Revell and Netgalley have provided me with a copy of Never Fall Again for review:

In the outskirts of Gossamer Falls, North Carolina, Landry Hutton has spent three years rebuilding her life behind the secure gates of The Haven. Landry is finally ready to settle permanently to give her daughter, Eliza, a safe place to grow up after serving as an artist-in-residence.

Former Marine Callum Shaw has always dreamed of joining his family's construction business one day. Though he longs for a family of his own, he has almost given up on the possibility of having one. He promises to keep his distance from the beautiful artist who has hired him to build her new house. It is not the first time he has loved--and lost--someone like her.

Landry and Eliza are in grave danger when Landry's pottery is destroyed in a suspicious fire. But from whom? If he wants to protect them, he will have to risk his heart again.

I give Never Fall Again five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Thank you to Netgalley and (Revell) Baker Publishing for providing me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this novel. All the thoughts and the opinions expressed are my own.

Landry Hutton has escaped her past and has landed in her safe place, The Haven Resort in Gossamer Falls, North Carolina. She is an art teacher for the resort and she makes and successfully sells beautiful pottery. She decides to build a house. While visiting with a construction company about building a house, she meets Cal Shaw, the owner. During this visit she gets a call that the store on the resort where she sells her pottery is burning. This begins a series of events that target Landry and her daughter. Has Landry’s past found her or has she been hit with a new threat.

This book is a suspense story but a light version. It focuses more on the romance rather than the mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a very sweet story. It sets up this new series by introducing us to a wonderful cast of characters. It has faith, but it is not preachy.

I would recommend this book to people looking for clean, light suspense stories where romance is the star and suspense is on the side. I would not recommend this book for anyone who likes faith elements to be of a heavier variety.

I loved Never Fall Again by Lynn H. Blackburn. I enjoyed getting to meet Landry and Cal, and Landry’s daughter Eliza was so sweet! I loved every minute of this book, and I can’t wait for the next one.

I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Why I chose this book:

What is not to love in Lynn Blackburn’s books? She is great at weaving together good romance and mystery. I have previously read her Dive Team Investigations and Defend and Protect series and thoroughly enjoyed the characters.

Type of book: suspense, romance, Christian fiction, crime fiction

Overall: This was one of the few books where I preferred the development of the side characters more than the main characters. While I truly enjoyed this book, it was very predictable what would happen and how Landry and Cal would act throughout the story. However, while the development of the plot didn’t intrigue me, I did enjoy the read.

Favorite character/quotes: My favorite characters were Bronwyn and Mo. We get to read their interactions at various points in the story, and the tension Blackburn creates between the two of them is off the charts. I can’t wait to read their story.

Bookshelf worthy: Never Fall Again is bookshelf worthy.

Teenability: Yes; cautions: discussion of an abusive marriage; woman and daughter get kidnapped

Cal and Landry are perfect for each other. Cal is a former Marine and his instincts are telling him that Landry and her daughter are hiding from someone. When Landry's pottery studio is destroyed he and his family surround them with love and friendship as they try to figure out who is behind it and what exactly they want. The story has a great plot, wonderful characters including Mo, Meredith, and Bronwyn (their stories are coming), suspense, action, romance, spiritual content and humor. I love the family aspect of the story, everyone in Cal's family sets out to protect and care for Landry and Eliza from his parents, to grandparents, to in-laws and cousins. i can't want for the next book in the Gossamer Falls series.

The author did not disappoint with this book. The romance is clean and the action is not difficult to read. In other words, it's a pleasant book to read. My only problem was keeping all the characters straight. But that sometimes happens when a book is about big families. I was somewhat disappointed that it ended rather abruptly. Everything is explained, but in a brief manner. The suspense was intense in places, but it resolved itself in good time.

About this book:

“Landry Hutton has spent three years rebuilding her life behind the secure gates of The Haven, an exclusive resort on the outskirts of Gossamer Falls, North Carolina. As the artist-in-residence, and with her pottery prized by The Haven's guests, Landry is finally ready to settle in permanently. She wants to give her daughter, Eliza, a safe home to grow up in and hires former Marine Callum Shaw to handle the construction.
Cal grew up in Gossamer Falls and always knew he would someday join his family's business. He longs for a family of his own but has almost given up on that ever happening. Landry is funny, gifted, and everything Cal could ever want in a partner, but he vows to keep his distance. Landry has a daughter and a past. Cal has been down that road before and barely survived when the woman he loved left, taking her two sons with her. He can't bear to lose like that again.
Before construction on the house can begin, Landry's pottery is destroyed in a suspicious fire. It soon becomes clear that Landry and Eliza are in grave danger--but because of whom? But, after losing one relationship, he is hesitant to try again.”

This book took me completely by surprise. I’ve read a few other books by this author and enjoyed parts of different ones, but wasn’t sure about this book. I almost passed on this book because I wasn’t super interested in the plotline, but I’m glad I read it because I ended up really enjoyed it!

The romance was really cute, Cal was the best, and it was overall a really enjoyable read. Definitely way lighter suspense than I was expecting, but that was good too. There were little things here and there that I didn’t care for, but nothing super major.

Cal’s personality won me over the minute he appeared on page. He was fantastic. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much in the suspense book before. He made the book for me.

I think I swooned when he prayed with her. Have I seen that before in Christian fiction suspense books? When the main girl is distraught over something that happened in the suspense plotline and he stops and asks if he can pray with her and then prays for her? How come we haven’t seen that more?! It was so sweet!

I did struggle to keep track of how everyone was related, the family feud in town, and all of those correlating elements, but I continued to read to hope that I could figure everything out. I did get really lost with the family trees and how everyone is related—a diagram of the main families‘ trees at the front of the book would’ve been super helpful! I did feel like I was almost jumping into the middle of a series or at least a very busy very active family life—make that three families!

The suspense element really didn’t kick in till right at the end about 85% into the book. There is a bit here and there, but not really much in that first majority of the entire book.
Don’t go in expecting a Lynette Eason or Lisa Harris suspense novel full of action, shoot outs, and car chases—because that’s definitely not this book.

This suspense book was unlike many other suspense books in many ways, but also because it actually covers a decent amount of time throughout the book. There are several chapters where it’s a few weeks later or several weeks later. Typically, I would get a little frustrated with that because I want to be all in our main characters lives and their interactions, but it worked really well for this book. Such as our main characters had discussions off page but then were told about them later when it’s important. I never felt like I was missing out.

I will say that I wasn’t a fan of the villains from Landry‘s past being Christians in the public eye but then being backstabbers in the private. That’s some thing I’ve seen more and more in Christian fiction is the so-called “Christians” that are actually the villains of the story. And I’m not liking seeing that as frequently as I have been seen it. I will say that it bothered me way less in this book compared to other recent reads because those characters weren’t on page causing mayhem or being terrible? We just hear about it from past events from Landry, so it didn’t bother me as much, shockingly.

Overall? This was a busy book with all the characters and trying to figure out how everyone is connected, but it had its really sweet moments and a bit of suspenseful ones as well. The faith content was a bit lighter than I would have preferred, but Cal praying for Landry and then little Eliza’s prayers made it good to me. It really was romance book with a touch of suspense, which I shockingly still enjoyed. (Shockingly because I typically like my suspense books to be heart-pounding suspenseful.) Because of mentions of Landry’s abusive husband, I would mark this book for ages 15/16+.

This is the first book of the latest series by Lynn H, Blackburn. I loved the story and look forward to the next installment. Landry and her daughter Eliza have spent the last three years keeping a low profile. Landry is a talented potter and has built her life and career within the gates of the exclusive resort The Haven in the small North Carolina community of Gossamer Falls. With her newly purchased land she plans to build a home and plant roots for her and her daughter. Enter Cal, the handsome caring retired Marine and owner of the local construction company. What starts as a friendship becomes so much more and sparks start to fly. Watching the romance unfold was a great treat.

"Never Fall Again" the first book in the Gossamer Falls series by Lynn Blackburn is a book you will not only want to read immediately, but you'll also be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book in the series!! The story starts out a bit slow but it quickly gets intense. The book shows the message of Christ, with intrigue and romance through -out. I thoroughly enjoyed!! Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and I read and reviewed of my own accord. All opinions are my own.

Never Fall Again is the first book in the Gossamer Falls series by Lynn Blackburn. Landry Hutton settles in Gossamer Falls to restart her life. She hires Callum Shaw, a former Marine turned construction worker, to build a house for her and her little girl. However, when her business is attacked, echoes of the past threaten her life, and Callum decides to step in and protect her. Blackburn has emphasized the romance while leaving most of the suspense to the end of the novel with one final twist at the end.

4.5 stars- I enjoyed this immensely. The author has such a natural way of writing, it feels genuine. Things that I loved about this story - setting (NC mountains), huge family/ extended family, the cousin friendships and interactions, family group text, the cousin group all living near each other, small town feel/drama, great dialogue, open and quick communication, no third act breakup —- ALL of this I totally LOVED about this book. Cal was so special. The side characters were fabulous - and MO..I can't wait for his story.
So for about 90% of this story, I definitely planned on giving it five stars. Unfortunately, what got me was the way the suspense aspect of the story wrapped up.
First off,the suspense part was VERY mild. It almost felt like a side story. Which I was totally ok with. I adored the book even without the suspense. Even so, the suspense was an added bonus for me. Until the end. Then I was a bit disappointed.
We are given the conclusion, we see the characters escape safely from the bad-guy, but then he's basically never mentioned again. We get no information about HOW he pulled off the events, WHY he did it, WHAT happens to him afterwards? It felt like the mystery conclusion was a bit rushed. And as a mystery loving, true-crime listening girl, I REALLY needed those loose ends tied up. I need to know why and how and what. I need the juicy details. So that's what kept it from being 5 stars for me.
But honestly, otherwise, it's a fabulous book. I would have read it even without the suspense and totally loved it. The characters, the setting, the dialogue, the relationships - all absolute perfection. Top tier. I would eat up a series that focused on those aspects entirely!
Anyway, overall I REALLY enjoyed this. I would highly recommend!

Great start to a new series! This was a great story! I enjoyed Landry and Cal's interactions and chemistry. The suspense was well-done. The cast of characters were so good that I cannot wait to visit Gossamer Falls again!

I absolutely loved the story line, characters and small town setting of this brand new series! I liked getting to know Landry, her daughter Eliza, Cal and all his family and friends. I loved how close knit and protective Cal’s family was and how the whole town rallied around Landry and her daughter to protect them against the unsuspecting attacks.

There were so many great characters mentioned in Gossamer Falls that I can’t wait to read more from this series. Easy to read, clean suspense and romance book that will keep you interested and intrigued from beginning to end. My 13 year old also enjoyed reading it!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and views expressed are my own.

Never Fall Again is a bit different from Lynn H. Blackburn’s other books, but I loved it just the same. The romance is still sizzling, even if the suspense is more peripheal than her past books. However, the suspense is still there, and there are plenty of twists and turns in the story.

And once again, Blackburn has an incredible and loveable cast of characters. Cal, of course, is incredible. Blackburn definitely knows how to write a hero. And I loved Landry, too. She’s strong without being the anti-man heroine I see so often.

But within the romance, Blackburn also weaves in these reminders that this is a suspense book and danger is near. I did not see the twist coming at all, but it made so much sense in the end.

I loved every minute of reading this book and was a bit sad when it ended. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Overall, Never Fall Again is a great romantic suspense with incredible characters and a page-turning plot.

I know it’s only the first book of the series, but it just may be my favourite series by this author. I enjoyed the community camaraderie, the ease in which everybody helped everybody, the emphasis on faith and family, and much more. I enjoyed the cast of characters and could easily imagine many of them quite easily. They’re my kind of people.

Landry is a woman of honour who has been through a lot in her lifetime. Her need for safety and privacy are understandable after lies and betrayal. Likewise, Callum is a man of honour who went through terrible heartache and loss and his walls of safety also made sense. Seeing their friendship develop naturally and organically was the stuff of wishes and dreams. They got each other. They respected each other. And they came to trust each other.

The build-up of suspense was slow but grew with intensity and complexity. Honestly, the book just kept getting better and better as the drama grew and as the romance blossomed into something beautiful.

The one thing I would have liked differently was an epilogue rather than the brief and abrupt “six months later” part. I felt like I missed out. Lol!

I want to move to Gossamer Falls, have Cal build me a house and a fireplace, decorate with Landry’s pottery pieces, then get takeout from Cassie’s restaurant. I can’t wait to see what transpires with Meredith, Gray, Bronwyn, Mo, Cassie, etc. Oh, and I call dibs on a puppy or two from Maisy!

Never Fall Again is the perfect balance of romance and suspense. I loved the small town of Gossamer Falls and all of the people in it. The town was full of people who were there for each other and all up in each others’ business. Exactly what you would expect of a small town! Landry and Cal hit it off right away and the slow burn romance was just right. Eliza was adorable and stole everyone’s hearts! I loved Cal’s family and how they all loved fiercely and were there for each other. Everyone wants a family like that. There were emotional and heart wrenching back stories and I loved the depth that made you feel what the characters did. Overall I loved the story and cannot wait to read more stories from Gossamer Falls! I received a complimentary copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

** Thank you so much to NetGalley and Revell Publishing for an ARC of this book! These thoughts are entirely my own.**

I LOVED this book! It was so good!

First off, the characters were very compelling. I loved getting to know them, and I really cared what happened to them. All of the characters had great backstories, some of which were revealed, and some that were hinted at (I’m assuming so more books can be in the series). The dynamics between the families and love interests were developed really well. I usually read and continue books for the plot, but this is a rare instance where I was more engaged because of the characters than I was in the plot.

Speaking of which, the plot was pretty solid! This book definitely has some action, especially towards the end, but I liked that it wasn’t overly dramatic like I think most Christian suspense books tend to be. This book felt pretty believable, and I was surprised by the ending. My only problem with the plot (and the reason giving this book 4.5 stars) is with the huge action twist at the end. I don’t quite understand why the “villain” did what they did, and it didn’t feel like Lynn H. Blackburn did, either. There was reasoning given, but it was not very convincing. Plus, the big action starts and ends WAY too fast. The climax is from page 181 to 198 (out of 209 pages), which is 8% of the book. It just felt really fast. There was definitely suspense throughout the whole book, though, and that was really well-paced and developed.

Of course, I loved this book! There were a few issues, but it was still a really fun and fast read. Never Fall Again is another home run by Lynn H. Blackburn!

I loved this newest start to a wonderful romantic suspense series. I loved Landry, Callum and Eliza. I really enjoyed the romance, intrigue and suspense. I loved how Eliza won over Cals heart. I could not put this book down. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I really enjoyed this story. The suspense was light, but just enough to keep the mind going throughout the book trying to figure it out. There were plenty of clues towards what was going on, but also lots of distraction.

What was not light was the arc involving the romantic lead. Their chemistry was wonderful despite their insistence on wanting to be alone. It was clear from the beginning that they belonged together. This fact did not detract from the story, it enhanced it., I love the setting and the families in this story. A little bit of an age old feud just made things even more interesting.

I felt for Landry and her daughter and I fell for Callum, who wouldn't. With just the right touch of growth, love and forgiveness as well as setting up the stories for several characters, I found this story to be absolutely wonderful and I would love to visit this town again. There is nothing better than a good romantic suspense when you need a good escape and this one offered the perfect opportunity,

As far as the suspense piece goes, I really did not see that coming. The romance was expected but felt organic. The story had the perfect touch.

I received an early copy from the publisher via netgalley and this is my honest review.
