A unique dinosaur book for all of those dinosaur-loving children. Great size comparisons with fun pictures. Delightful!

I sort of expected more information about the relative size of baby dinosaurs, or at least of the adult ones. REally, it's a collection of quick dinosaur facts. A cute construction but doesn't contribute a lot of knowledge.

Eleven dinosaurs, depicted as little ones, alongside their full-grown parents…or, at least, their parents’ feet! Each dino features their name, the translated meaning of their name, and a few sentences of description. It’s brief, making this a great primer for kids just getting interested in dinosaurs.

The final two pages have a few more sentences of description for each dinosaur, but no accompanying images, making it kind of text-heavy for early readers, but just fine for those who are more comfortable with longer, more complex text.

I especially appreciate the size comparison on the back endpaper, giving you an idea of how each dinosaur baby compares to a human child. Although, the human child isn’t given an age or height, so the size is pretty vague. I’d also have loved it if the front endpaper (of flip them) had a comparison of adult humans to adult dinosaurs, to impress how big these babies REALLY get!

The artwork is digital media, with a focus on realism and recent scientific consensus on appearance. Most of the dinos have protofeathers and fuzz, though some are QUITE well-fledged! There are some absolutely ADORABLE pictures in this book, such as the baby triceratops with donuts on its horns. I also love the veliciraptor babies racing a toy car, especially since they’ve got nearly fully-formed WINGS!

Pick this up if you have a dinosaur-loving child, and this should definitely be on public library shelves! It’s a great resource, and sure to be a hit.

Big Babies is a fascinating book filled with not just tons of fun, but lots of facts, too. The illustrations are perfectly paired with creative but factual information about dinosaur babies. A unique idea for a book that kids won’t want to put down!

First - I must rave about the artwork in this book: the textured skin, the fluffy feathers - it's WONDERFUL! And, I love seeing dinos depicted as big-eyed babies with toys and doughnuts! BUT, the book is also VERY informative. There's a bit at the end with facts about each dinosaur (two of which I'd never heard), and a chart comparing the size of each baby to that of a four-year-old child.

I cannot WAIT to get a copy of this for our library!

This book has some of the best illustrations I've seen in awhile. I love the uniqueness of them and how they show dino actual size with comparisons to things in our world today. Young dino enthusiasts will be thrilled, as books about dino babies are rare. The text is best for the youngest reader, but the illustrations are so good that any child with an interest in dinosaurs should give this a read.

I can not even say how much I love this. Short easily digestible facts about each dinosaur. Brief enough my two-year-old will sit through the whole book, every time! The facts are fun not the typical boring presentation of them. The illustrations are just darling, if this book came with a little poster it would be on our wall right now. We have read this every day since our first reading. The author truly understands how to keep the littles engaged!

I would say the cover doesn’t do justice regarding the illustrations inside!

The illustrations are really amazing as they seem so real and you will get to see some actual shadows of a few as well! It’s that good.

In this book, the kids will get to know about some of the different types of dinosaurs. The language is perfect and the colours! You will love the book!

This is the cutest book! If you love dinosaurs or have a child that does, this is the book for you!!! The illustrations are so cute, and it's a nursery of dinos! You learn all about dinos while looking at the cutest pictures! I would recommend this for a read a loud in the classroom or for anyone that loves dinos!

This was cute! I liked the rhymes and enjoyed most of the art. There was a good variety of prehistoric creatures shown.

An engaging look at a topic that will thrill all of the "littles" in your house. Everyone loves baby animals, now your dinosaur lovers of all ages can see and learn what baby dinosaurs looked like and how they lived. The illustrations are perfect! My dinosaur "experts", ages 4,6, and 7 all approved of this book and now are telling the story to their friends. Patrick O'Brien has done an excellent job of writing to his audience. 5 easy stars.

My 6 year old is obsessed with dinosaurs. He's very knowledgeable about dinosaurs as he's been researching them since he was one years old and he hopes to be a paleontologist someday. He was so excited to read this book. We learned about a few dinosaurs that we've never seen in children's books before which was very exciting for us. Like the Mei Long and the Micropackycephalosaurus which was hard to pronounce but fun to read about. I do question how accurate some of the details about the dinosaurs are but I also know that some facts are often debated in the dinosaurs community. I liked the extra pages of facts about the dinosaurs but would have liked it better if those facts were on the same page as their designated dinosaurs. All together we thought this was a great book and think it would make a great edition to our dino book collection. My 4 year old dinosaur lover really was engaged while listening to the book. He loved trying to say the names and liked the illustrations. I didn't love all of the pictures. I'm not sure if these were AI generated but some just felt more like a bad school text book than a children's book.

Overall we liked it.

A delightful book for anyone interested in Dinosaurs, this provides some fascinating information about how baby dinosaurs may have looked and what they were like when they grew into their adult selves.

Alongside the cute cartoons and creative illustrations, the book provided a lot of information that was new to me, and might also be new to many other readers.

I was interested to learn about the small dinosaur known as the "sleeping dragon", the remains of which were found in China, and how it got its name.

And it was also surprising to find out that the Pteranodon is not a dinosaur - and what the word 'dinosaur' actually means!

My favourite part was the size comparison of baby dinosaurs with a 4 year old human child in the chart provided in the book. All in all, this is an excellent addition to any dinosaur enthusiast's library.

My 2.5 year old LOVED this book! She said the babies were SO CUTE and she wanted to read it “again and again”! We really enjoyed it, but struggled with some of the names!

Big Babies is a fun journey through a nursery of baby dinosaurs. Beautiful illustrations showing the relative size of baby dinos when they are first born. As huge as these creatures became, they all started out tiny in comparison. Most of them were small than a ten-year-old human!

Educational, entertaining, and adorable, kids will absolutely love this!
