As always. reliable, yet easy non committal thriller from Slater. One of my favourite to come back to. I've enjoyed all of her books, despite them being a bit more trashy and will continue to request and read and review hers. This was a bit more twisty than some of her previous titles and you really didn't know who to trust.

A whole new type of Bunny Boiler....a husband who lies, a wife who lies and deceives and a confused, a concerned mother wondering how she can best protect her grown up son. and an indifferent Dad, who doesn't seem particularly bothered about the predicament his son is in and doesn't seem to care his wife is upset and worried. I wasn't sure where this book was going but it had me gripped. Really interesting, you start to think you know who has done what but then the twists keep on coming.....very good!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. If you are looking for a thriller that will keep you reading late into the night just to find out how it ends, this is the book for you. Yes I might be a little biased as I absolutely love K.L. Slater's books but she did it again with this one. The book starts off with Parker asking his mom to babysit his son, Barney as Parker & his wife, Luna have a conference to attend out of town. Nicola is absolutely thrilled to watch her grandson as her visits with her son and grandson are very limited these days as all their free time is spent with Luna's parents so Nicola will jump at the chance to hang out with her grandson for an overnight visit. When the phone rings in the middle of the night at Nicola's house things start to take a dramatic turn for the family. This story has it all lies, cheating, affairs, and even murder. Slowly everyone's hidden secrets will be revealed by the time the last page is turned. Great read, loved the twists and turns and just when you think you have it all figured out another secret is revealed and it takes you in a whole new direction. Enjoy!!!!

4.5 Stars!

Parker and Luna Vance are involved in a horrible car accident, leaving Parker clinging to life. Just before the couple left for their social engagement the night of the accident, Parker told his mother, Nicola he had a secret to tell her. This story is told from multiple perspectives as Nicola and others unravel the mystery of Parker and Luna's lives.

The ending of this book absolutely threw me for a LOOP. Excellent read! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGAlley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Brilliant story about a couples life that unfolds whilst they lay in hospital recovering from a car accident. A scarf is found that links them to a murder case- fab twist, great writing, 5stars!!

A girl has been murdered in an alley and her scarf is the only thing missing......

After dropping off their son at Parker's parents house for a fun night out, Parker and Luna are in a car accident and now the hospital. Parker's mother, Nicola, happens to talk to her son before he goes into a coma and he tells her not to go to his house....so off to his house she goes and so begins the crazy story!

This story was all over the place, the story not realistic at all....if my son was in the hospital, I would not be leaving much less waiting at home for an update and the list goes on and on.

I finished it but did not enjoy it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

This one was quite twisty... It was a bit slow in parts, but fairly engaging. It had a decent amount of suspense.

So good! This is a quick, page turner with multiple twists. Each well written, short chapter identifies POV and its place on the timeline.. I was intrigued from the first chapter. Husband and Wife was a one day, couldn’t put it down read for me. I’ve read/enjoyed other K.L Slater books -this one is definitely my favourite so far.
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture and author, K.L Slater, for the opportunity to fly through/read and enjoy this ARC.

Husband and wife, both with secrets and one...or the other possibly involved in the murder of a young mother!

Mothers who have spend their lives protecting their children now questioning everything they thought they knew about their children!

You won't believe all the secrets revealed in Husband and Wife and the hits will just keep coming!

Husband and Wife is told from multiple view points of spouses and their mothers from prior to and after the car accident that leave both husband and wife hospitalized. This is a hard story to put down with twists and turns from beginning to end! And, when you think you've got it figured out, another twist is revealed with an ending that I didn't see coming!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this E-ARC in exchange for an honest reivew!

Great book. Major twists kept it really exciting. The story turned out way different than I expected ( as to who actually murdered Sarah).

Wow! Parker and Luna are fighting for their lives after a terrible car accident. Parker’s mother discovers evidence that may connect one or both of them to a murder. Who is telling the truth? Who is keeping secrets? This one kept me guessing til the very end! Another fantastic book by KL Slater. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this fabulous ARC!

Husband and Wife is yet another testament to K.L. Slater’s indelible skill of storytelling. I raced through this compelling, twisty novel.

Where do I even begin with Husband and Wife? What did the title mean? Husband and Wife – they promise to look after each other in sickness and health, right? To support each other through the good and the bad. There’s a feeling of mutual respect and partnership. So, when Parker and his wife, Luna are involved in a very serious car accident, will they continue to honour their vows?

The story is told in multi-POV’s, Laura, Parker’s mum, Luna, the wife and Parker, the husband. Laura has a difficult relationship with her son and his wife. It really gets to Laura. She used to have a wonderful relationship with him. But with the marriage to Luna came big problems. They didn’t visit often, she wasn’t invited to their home, and they rarely saw her grandson, Barney.

When Parker and Luna are involved in a car accident that has Parker in critical care and Luna with a broken pelvis, Laura, and her husband rally round. There’s several things that Laura is confused by. Why were they travelling home when they were apparently staying over night at a dinner dance and when she get’s the keys to Parkers home to collect some things for Barney, she discovers that the couple were sleeping apart. Their home is up for sale and why in a bag of discarded rubbish does she find a silk scarf that is pertinent to a murder case of a girl called Sarah Greyson?

I really liked the character of Laura. She was a true mama bear that would stop at nothing to prove her son’s innocence. She’s running on little sleep and adrenaline as she’s trying to fill in the gaps of Parker’s days before the accident.

If you’ve read any of K.L. Slater’s books before you’ll know that you’re in for a wild ride. Husband and Wife was no different. It’s a twisty rollercoaster of a read. The author takes you at knifepoint, the knife edging further into your skin as the reveals are made. Your nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time. I relished the horrors and once again I found myself wondering why the biggest evil of all is humanity. Forget ghost and ghouls. People are the biggest threat.

Another great read from K.L.Slater. Very well written and told from different POV, never knowing what or who to believe. Fast paced and twists I didn't see coming.
Thank you to Netgalley and to the publishers for allowing me to read this advanced copy.

I have read all of KL Slater's books in the past and loved them all. This one for some reason just felt like it was lacking in something and wasn't my favourite. I still enjoyed it though as it had twists and turns which I love and was written from different POVs which I also love. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

"I have something very important to tell you. But you mustn't tell anyone..."

Kim Slater continues to thrive with her deluge of thrillers and this one she well and truly had me hoodwinked. Though when the villain was revealed I was surprised but not shocked...because everything just fell into place with that one piece of knowledge. All throughout, with her sleight of hand deftly moving the pieces, Kim weaves a tale which pitches wife against husband and husband against wife. And despite having the facts laid out before us, I was still blindly lead up a false trail wanting so badly for the villain to be someone else entirely. And while she was deftly moving the pieces behind the scenes, I didn't see the truth until she spelled it out for us. And it had been hiding in plain sight.

Nicola and Cal are excited to be babysitting their seven year old grandson, a rare occurrence given that their relationship with their son and his wife appear to be somewhat strained. But a night out at a dinner dance his firm is holding, Parker delivers their son to his parents on their way out for the evening and into the night. His wife Luna naturally remains in the car and Nicola can't understand why the woman never makes an effort with them. But regardless, for Parker's and Barney's sakes she tries to offer an olive branch but it's swept away each time.

Before leaving, Parker whispers to his mother that he needs to talk to her the following day when his father was at work and Luna safely back at home. His words "I have something very important to tell you. But you mustn't tell anyone" have her intrigued and pondering what could be so important that he only wished to confide in her. And without his wife's knowledge.

But the conversation was never to take place. Because at 2am the following morning, she's shaken awake by Cal and the strobing blue lights lighting up their bedroom. Downstairs the police rang the doorbell. There had been a very serious road traffic accident in which their son Parker and his wife Luna had been seriously injured.

Leaving Cal at home to look after their sleeping grandson, Nicola rushes the hospital to find out just how serious this accident was and in what condition her son was. When she arrives, Parker is in the trauma unit and is barely coherent. Knowing that his condition is critical and that Luna is also injured, Nicola realises that it's left up to her to take over the care of her grandson Barney in his parents' absence and makes arrangements with the nursing staff to access Parker's belongings so that she can go to their house to collect some clothes and toys for Barney.

As she pulls up in front of her son's illustrious detached home, she cannot believe what she is seeing. Why hasn't Parker told them? Understandably frazzled by this latest revelation, Nicola swiftly enters the house, disarms the alarm and goes in search of Barney's room to pack a few things. As she wanders the rooms she continually tells herself "I will not snoop...I will not snoop...wait! What?" But the revelations inside the house were nothing compared to what she found when she decided to put their bin out...a piece of evidence that links her son to a murdered woman. This cannot be happening.

Now, armed with this new knowledge, Nicola scrambles to protect her family.

The story unfolds through various timelines and a handful of characters. While not in a straightforward timeline, it goes back and forth in a mish mash of times that would normally confuse a reader but made perfect sense given what was really unfolding. As the story progressed, the more questions were raised. I had my suspicions but this time I was way off base.

I love that Kim's books continue to involve DI Helena Price and her DS Brewster. It makes them feel almost like a series without being a series. And you don't get bogged down in all that police procedural info when all you want is a fun, entertaining and interesting thriller to devour.

Another addictive read from Kim sure to thrill fans alike!

I have regret reading this book and that is I regret not reading it sooner! To be honest I was apprehensive about whether to read this or not; I thought oh yeah a dead body, husband and wife story.. but it's so much more than that. The depth it goes into with each character and their storyline is remarkable. I was shocked and guessing the whole way through! Had to pick my jaw up a few times.
I'm honestly quite sad thatI've finished the book now. I have a book hangover
Will be reading more from this amazing author
Thanks to Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this amazing book for my honest review.

What a fantastic book, it had me hooked from the beginning. It is one of those books where you have to keep turning the page to find out what happens next. Would highly recommend.

I have enjoyed KL Slaters books in the past. Whilst this was not my favourite it was still an enjoyable read. Some good twists and turns as the book progresses, and as always a whole host of characters to supsect at different times.
