I’m a big fan of Melody Carlson’s writing style. Just for the Summer is a fun and entertaining story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The concept of the main characters swapping jobs is what drew me in.

Ginny Masters is the manager of a boutique hotel in Seattle and does her job well. With a demanding boss in a fast paced environment it’s beginning to take a toll on her. Jacqueline Potter manages her grandfathers fishing lodge in Idaho but is longing for a more sophisticated and exciting environment. The women agree to switching jobs and it’s safe to say the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Just for the Summer is an entertaining clean read with a bit of inspiration. There is romance for both women and I enjoyed the variety of characters in the story. I loved how Ginny repurposed items in her decorating of the old fishing lodge. Each character had a purpose that added to the story.

I recommend Just for the Summer as a fun and entertaining read.

Ginny is a manager at a hotel, she works hard and she’s strict. She’s punctual and needs everything a certain way. Her boss is hard on her and blames her tor mistakes even if it wasn’t her fault.
Jackie is hard around the edges, cranky and doesn’t like much change. She manages her grandfathers fishing lodge.
But what happeneds when they job swap? Who fails and who succeeds? Who falls in love? And do they come back or stay?

I felt this book was okay I kept reading only because I wanted to find out what was going on. So it did pull me in I just wasn’t a fan of the writing.

I really liked the JobSwap idea and enjoyed Ginny's character. The fishing resort was a lot of fun to read about and i liked all the side characters there. Yet, I really did not like Jackie's character, I know that is kind of the point in the beginning, but I didn't see any real character development from her. Working as. a maid for a week is not enough to convince me she is no longer a manipulative liar. Also, I strongly disliked how Ginny was always labelled as a workaholic, and encouraged to have fun and a man, as though her life is not complete without one. I wished we saw more of Ginny's sister and their relationship, and there was more build-up of the romantic relationships. Adrian and Jackie made no sense together, since she was manipulating him most of the book and was after him only for his money.

In true Melody Carlson style, Just for the Summer is a fun entertaining story I thoroughly enjoyed. 5 stars!

A new take on the old saying 'the grass is always greener on the other side" is in full play here. When Ginny Masters and Jacqueline Potter agree to a job swap, all manner of interesting situations occur. Both women are in desperate need of a change and convinced their new jobs will be just right. Ginny ends up at Fredrickson's Fishing Lodge in small town Idaho while Jacqueline lands at the sophisticated boutique Hotel Jackson Seattle.
While this story is full of humor and a lot of misunderstanding, it has a relatable theme of searching for a place to truly belong. I love how Carlson's love of decorating shines through in the fishing lodge setting and how Ginny brought the place back to life with old found things from the attic.

There are love interests for both women that brought another sweet element to the story. I enjoyed the variety of characters including Grandpa Jack, Margie, Ben, Alexi and Adrian. Even Diana has her place as the demanding, never satisfied hotel owner.

I recommend Just for the Summer as a lighthearted, perfectly delightful read. I appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

My eyes were already filled with the happy tears from the very first pages. The first few pages alone was all it took for me to fully connect, and I knew right from the start that this book was going to be special; and it very much was.

Melody Carlson books are always packed with fun themes and characters. Just for the Summer doesn't disappoint. While there were a few moments that were a bit fast, it is a fiction romance and that is to be expected. Thank you for the arc of this NetGalley and Revell!

The plot on this book is what drew me in, I love a good character swap! I also felt like the environments and details were really thought out and the characters each matched them very well!

With that, I did feel like there wasn’t a ton of depth to the characters, it sort of felt like some things were rushed to get to the next point. I found a connection with Ginny, but Jacqueline was definitely a brat (which I believe is how it is meant to be portrayed), but I wish there was more groveling for her.

I also really liked the MCs HEA together, but again I felt like the end was rushed into the last chapter. I wish there would’ve been an epilogue with more on their futures!

Overall, this was a cute book and I would probably recommend for someone who wanted a quick, light read!

This was a quick read. I loved the twist on the switch place trope. Good characters fun plot. It was a good palette cleanser but Alamo made you reflect a little.

This had such potential from the story line. It just fell flat for me. I felt like Jacquelyn was a spoiled brat and Ginny was a pushover. The maturity level of Jacquline was so off putting. Ginny was too sweet which made her a people pleaser to her detriment of voicing what she wanted. This was a quick read but I still found myself skimming. Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy, I’m leaving my review voluntarily.
