5 ⭐️ from my 9Y0, 3 ⭐️ from me

My 9Y0 gives it 2 thumbs up and a 5 out of 5 stars, mainly just because of the brand name, so great job on creating a fan base. But he also gave that rating after only a few pages in…

👎🏼 I deducted a star for no intrinsic value, I much prefer Middle Grade books with a valuable lesson that is obvious to the reader at such an impressionable age.

This is my first Big Nate book. I’ve read numerous complaints from other parents on their children starting to act out after reading this series, and while I can’t say I can relate to that, I just don’t find any real value to the story.

🥴 It is like a collage of comics all mashed together, but the story literally jumps from one scene to another without any warning. One minute they are at school, the next they are somewhere else. I was so confused, I had to re-read certain parts to decipher if it was the same storyline or another. There should be better segregation between scenes, better flow, streamlined stories, etc.

It’s just confusing and perpetuates the idea of not staying focused on anything for long. I do NOT like this for my child, and for that reason I deduct a second star.

🤷🏻‍♀️ But overall, it’s the kids opinion that rules the ratings, and kids give this a whopping 5/5 before even reading, so I guess that says it all.

Thanks to NetGalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Lincoln Pierce for providing me with a complimentary ARC to review.

Nate has a new rival. Kyle is trying to claim messiest locker at school. But Nate might just have a few things up his sleeve. Or, you know, in his locker. Lots of touchbacks to previous stories in the series. Two storylines even overlap when Klassic Komix agrees to sponsor Nate's baseball team. Of course, it doesn't go the way that Nate expects when Wayne chooses the name of an unexpected character.

Four stars

My children have read every single Big Nate books and I have read a few of them with them. I was excited to see a new one coming out and read it myself to see if it continued with its hilarious antics. It does! They will not be disappointed. I love when they get a Big Nate book and I can't wait until I hear the sounds of my older son reading this one to my younger son. It always ends in fits of giggles coming from their room. Peirce writes humor for kids well and honestly, they make me laugh too.

The illustrations are in their signature style for this series and as always, they just add to the funny storyline!

My 2nd grader LOVES Big Nate and was so excited we scored this ARC-- thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for allowing us the opportunity to read this. Big Nates have become so popular with my son and his friends, he reads one a week from the school library and has yet to find one he didn't love. 'This Means War!' holds true to the Big Nate reputation-- it was an appropriate read, funny, silly and enjoyable. My child and I will often read together before bed, and I found this book enjoyable too!

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS CHAD SPORTING A REALLY COOL BEARD THAT'S ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AUTHENTIC

I always enjoy a good Big Nate book and this one was no exception!

This book's compilation of comic strips includes a story of Nate and Kim exploring a haunted house, the gang protesting the laying off of Nate's favorite teacher, School Prank Day (always a favorite), a legendary Slob-Off and much more!

Honestly this one was probably one of my favorite Big Nate comic books, it made me laugh way too much!

We devoured this in an hour, complained that it was too short, but overall really good. Happy to have been able to read this before it is out in stores!

Nate is a middle school underachiever who’s daily life features encounters that would terrify any preteen: liking the same things as your teacher, not having the messiest locker, or having your baseball sponsored by a local comic shop and being named a ridiculous name because of the sponsorship.

Big Nate really brings the random goofiest happenings to this latest book.

This was a lot of fun. My 11 year old son really enjoyed it as well.. Fun and funny. As far as we're concerned, this series can keep going!

This review is done on behalf of my nine year old son, who is a huge fan of Big Nate. He has read all of the books in the series, and he owns them all! My son says This Means War is “required reading for any comics fan.” He had a smile on his face the whole time he was reading it and he can’t wait for March when we can buy a physical copy for his collection. He was really excited for the opportunity to read This Means War before it came out. Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for this advanced digital copy!

I absolutely enjoy Big Nate. There are some aspects of it that may not be kid appropriate, but they see worse things on the Internet. I laughed out loud at this book and can't wait to read the next one!!

My 11 year old gives it 5 stars. We love all the big Nate books at our house! He says this is his favorite book of the whole series. He really identifies with the characters and the funny kid/boy humor. He thought the slob-off was hilarious.

This was my first Big Nate but it hopefully won't be my last. So much fun! I was actually laughing out loud reading the antics of the kids trying to save art class and make all the kids smile and when they had a slob off to see who was the biggest slob...
Thanks so much to NetGalley for letting me read this hilarious graphic novel

If you love Big Nate, you will love this addition to the series. He and his friends deal with school, baseball season, and even go to the beach in this next installment of the beloved graphic novel series.

Thanks Net Galley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the temporary copy to review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC:)
I had a great time returning to the world of Big Nate! It's been so long since I last read a Big Nate book, so reading this was very nostalgic, and a fun read as well!

I read this book with my 10 year old. He's an advanced reader and enjoyed the humor in this book. He did have other Big Nate books in his library so he was excited to be able to read a book that's not been published yet.

I really enjoy Nate, and him getting up to his shenanigans whether it's having locker slob wars, trying to make his teachers laugh, dealing with crushes, and end of the year pranks. Also, can we say grandma is the real hero of the story! 🤣

Good, clean humor for the whole family. Loved it! Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the ARC!

My seven year old is loving chapter books right now (beginning reader) and is very excited to have the latest in the Big Nate series.

A new selection of the comic strips – well, while nobody buys or doesn't buy any of these books on a review's say-so, it is helpful to know if this is the strip or the book-of-the-TV-programme series. Here, Nate is disgusted at having similarities with a certain social studies teacher, hates the results when his comic shop starts sponsoring the ball team, and loathes the idea the art teacher gets cut from the curriculum. It's all just Nate Wright fun as expected – and a strong four stars as expected.
