Kate is a doctor and Mark is an airline pilot. They are married with a young son called Jacob. Mark becomes a suspect in a murder investigation with Kate doubting his innocence due to a previous dalliance with her best friend, Sophie. Mark is then incapacitated in a car accident, leaving Kate to unravel the truth, whilst looking after her son with help from her mum, her husband’s friend and his colleague.

I found the plot a bit slow moving. Then everything picked up and was wrapped up very quickly. The pace could have been more balanced.

The main character, Kate, is quite hard to like as she comes across as weak and gullible. Mark isn’t likeable either. He seems to lie and keep secrets from his wife for no discernible reason.

That being said, I didn’t dislike the book. It didn’t really grip me but it was ok to pass the time.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

Unfortunately I really didn't connect with this book and found it to be too slow paced to fully engage with. I found the main character very weak and annoying which ultimately led me to abandon the book midway.

"My Husband's Lies" by Liz Lawler starts off a bit slow, but hang in there because the real excitement kicks in during the last third of the book! The author takes her time introducing characters and laying the groundwork, and it pays off big time when the story suddenly ramps up. It's one of those reads where you might think, 'where is this going?' at first, but trust me, it gets there! If you can handle a bit of patience, it's a pretty gripping ride overall.

This book was just ok. Seemed like a very familiar story line to a few other books I have recently read.

Sipping thoughts: Ugh you know those characters that do the opposite of what you want them to and sometimes the opposite of what you are yelling at them to do! This is that book. Kate is a very smart A&E doctor but unfortunately those smarts do not roll over into her personal life to help her make common sense decisions. I enjoyed this book enough but the ending was a little too far from reality, but I still enjoyed it.

Cheers and thank you to @Bookouture and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @MyHusbandsLies.

This is a particularly meaty psychological thriller - lots of action to get your teeth into!

The story starts with Kate, an A&E doctor, missing a shift when she is shocked to receive 2 police inspectors to her front door, her alarm is further raised when she is advised that they are looking for her airline pilot husband Mark, in relation to an incident. Kate's sleuthing leads her to discover that there has been a murder in Barcelona, Mark's destination the previous day.

On Marks's return, little in the way of reassurance is given, as Mark fears his arrest is imminent. Is it a suicide attempt, or an accident, that lands Mark in a coma shortly after? With her husband's life hanging in the balance, Kate takes matters into her own hands as she travels to Barcelona to clear her husband's name. She leaves her son at home in the care of one of Mark's cabin crew - this is a story in itself! As events unfold we are taken on an utter emotional rollercoaster that I am extremely glad I am only experiencing vicariously!!

This is an other belter of a story from Liz Lawer! Cant recommend this highly enough.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

1⭐️ - Kate's husband Mark is a pilot, and while he is away for work, a beautiful young woman who is an ex-colleague of his gets murdered. The police show up at Kate's door, claiming Mark is a suspect in their investigation. Mark refuses to tell her where he was that night and in the following days, a car hits him and puts him in a coma. Was it an accident? Is Kate's husband capable of what the police are accusing him of? Or is someone framing Mark for murder?

Unfortunately, I was not fond of this book at all. I found the main character Kate to be infuriating. She was passive and did nothing to avoid negative events. Then, when she acted, it was completely irrational. felt disconnected from the story because of how hard she was to root for. Also, Mark refusing to give Kate an answer about where he was that night made me want to rip my hair out. What kind of husband can't tell his wife the truth about whether he committed murder? Within the first few chapters, it was easy to predict the plot, and I found the whole thing quite unbelievable.

Thank you NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kate and mark have a seemingly perfect life. He’s an airline pilot and she’s a dr. They have a young son and the perfect marriage. That is until mark comes home one day from a work trip accused of the murder of a young female colleague in Spain. The Spanish police are convinced he’s guilty. Kate finds herself questioning not only mark but everything about her life. She doesn’t know who to believe or where to turn. Could her husband be capable of murder?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A good page turner. I did get the twists but that didn’t detract from enjoying the book. A solid 4/5 for me. Fast paced

Psychological thriller – entanglement of secrets, lies and deception.

‘My Husband's Lies’ is told from Kate’s POV. Kate is a doctor and her equally high-flying husband, Mark, is an airline pilot. They are parents to a small son, Jacob. The book opens with Mark being interrogated by the police regarding the murder of a young female colleague in Barcelona. Although Kate is convinced of his innocence, doubts creep in due to his secretiveness. Not long after, Mark is the victim of a car accident. Sitting at his hospital bed, Kate needs to know what Mark is hiding from her. Meanwhile, the police are standing by to arrest him.

Mark's friend, Robert, and colleague, Olivia, offer to help Kate care for Jason, giving her time to investigate the chain of circumstances and what Mark is hiding from her, in an attempt is to prove his innocence. I found Kate’s judgement to be flawed and there are times when the plot requires a suspension of belief. However, at the halfway point there’s an interesting reveal that took the story in a new direction. This is a fast-paced thriller that asks how well you know your spouse. ‘My Husband's Lies’ is an entanglement of secrets, lies and deception, but you know that in a thriller, satisfyingly the truth will always out.

A psychological/ domestic thriller, ‘My Husband's Lies’ is page-turner with numerous twists and turns. Thank you to #NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced reader’s copy for my review. #MyHusbandsLies.

I really struggled with this book and found it difficult to relate to the main character. The story was very far fetched and unbelievable.

This was a fast paced psychological thriller which kept the reader on their toes as was full of action lies and deceit and no one was as they first seemed.

The story was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end.

I really enjoyed this book. I was invested in this story from start to finish. The story throws you headfirst into drama from the first sentence: ‘She cast a furtive glance over her shoulder. There was no one behind her. The sound of hurrying footsteps on the pavement had ceased’. You don’t get a chance to settle in and get comfy, you are swept up in the fast paced, spiralling life of Kate, her husband Mark and little Jacob.

The story brings us through the turbulence caused by Fleur’s death and Kate’s attempt to try piece everything together. Things don’t add up and she is determined to figure out the truth, no matter the danger.

I really enjoyed the writing style and the fast pacing. Gathering information and putting together the pieces about the dreadful night in Barcelona alongside Kate creates an incredible tension that builds and builds the closer we get to the answer. The novel kept me guessing until the climax. I knew something (or someone) couldn’t be fully trust, but I didn’t realise just how twisted the situation was. I was sitting on the edge of my seat reading the end of this novel, feeling all the emotions alongside Kate.

Do yourself a favour and read this book!

It started off well but soon became very drawn out and an extremely slow burn with not much happening in the way of substance to the storyline. The main premise of the story really got lost along the way and went off on so many tangents that it felt like there was a couple of storylines that didn’t really connect. I found Kate to be so naive and her decision making raised so many questions along with her actions being extremely contradictory. This one really fell flat for me and I struggled with it a little. Wasn’t for me unfortunately.

2.5/5 🌟🌟/🌟

My Husband's Lies is the second book that I've read by Lawler and it's definitely not going to be the last.

I like the authors writing style and the way she draws you in from the opening paragraphs and immerses you into a tangled web of lies, deceit and drama.

Fast paced from beginning to end with a plethora of red herrings and twists to keep you on your toes, My Husband's Lies is an addictive thriller with some clever, credible characters and a plot to die for...

Thank you so much to net galley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I very much wanted to like this book. It fits the domestic mystery trope that I seek out. I thought the beginning of the book kept me engaged but as the story went on, I found the story line to be unbelievable and far-fetched. I also figured out “who done it” pretty early on but was hoping there would be that twist or shocking element that I didn’t see coming but it never came. Too many elements of the story became so unbelievable that I began to lose interest and moved through the book with a rapid pace, simply reading to get the story line and finish it sooner than later. I will attempt other books from this author because the beginning of the book is engaging and caught my interest, but this one just wasn’t it.

If you know me, you know I love a good psychological thriller that keeps me reading late into the night! My Husband’s Lies was a fast-paced, suspenseful read. I thought I had it figured out – but I was wrong! This one was a definite “can’t put down” experience.

Kate is a doctor and her husband, Mark, is a pilot and they have a little boy together and a wonderful marriage. Mark has just returned from a trip when he is accused of murder. Kate, with the help of her friends, tries to prove his innocence. The whole crew is interviewed but Mark remains a suspect as a witness claims to have seen him with the dead woman. Kate will do anything to prove Mark's innocence despite the trust issues they had in the beginning, but now she doesn't know what to think.

Mark is hit by a car and is unconscious in hospital, leaving Kate to depend on Mark's colleagues and her own mother to keep functioning as normal and taking care of their son Jacob. Kate is on a mission to find answers so she sets ot to Spain to prove Mark's innocence.

Overall, a great story filled with betrayal, deceit and twists.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for my ARC.

This book is unsettling but in such a brilliant way. I wished I had superpowers so I can go through it in a second if possible. I devoured it from the very first sentence all the way to the end
My husband's lies is definitely a jaw dropping story with twists, turns and devious connections that I could not think possible
It had me guessing and took me on different paths but I could not solve this one
