A wonderful rom-com to set the mood for the holiday season. An overworked New York City attorney, Katherine, has an accident and is rushed to the hospital where she is diagnosed with a concussion. The hospital reaches out to her emergency contact, who happens to be her ex-husband, Tom. The hospital will not release Katherine unless someone will agree to monitor her for forty eight hours, so she, reluctantly, agrees to travel with Tom back to his hometown of Chicago. But a quick three hour plane ride turns into a crazy trip full of planes, trains, and automobiles. Through all the misadventure, Katherine and Tom get a chance to reconnect and revisit where their marriage went wrong.

Katherine is a strong female character that has a lot of layers to her. When she finds herself waking up in a hospital after an accident, she wasn’t thrilled to see her ex husband coming to her rescue. They go on quite the adventure to try to make it to Tom’s parents house so he can propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. But is that what he truly wants? Great banter and hilarious moments as everything that could go wrong - goes very wrong! Save this one for the holiday season! Perfect read for someone who isn’t big on holiday books, but wants just a hint of the Christmas season.

Sometimes you just have to let a story transport you into a whole new world and feel all the feels and not critique little things…that is exactly what I did with this rom-com wonderfully written by a wife and husband duo. The planes, trains and automobiles Christmastime second-chance romance between Katherine and Tom was just too sweet, charismatic and chaotic I could not help but smile and laugh. The banter between the two was perfection for the predicaments that they got into. Five stars to the narrators (Brianna Cohen & Tim Paige) of this audiobook-they did a fantastic job!
And what’s not to love about the cover?! It features some of the different modes of transportation and is complete lovey-dovey color scheme.

This was adorable. I don’t know how exactly to explain this it was just perfect. I couldn’t put it down. I liked both the characters, the pacing, the antics, the banter, and the side characters. Just an extremely fun time.

This was a really fun one to listen to and just in time for the Christmas season! I loved the banter between the FMC and MMC. The authors did a great job creating both the main characters to compliment each other’s personalities. I loved the plane, trains and automobile vibes this story gave. It made this book an adventure full of funny mishaps that I could totally see happening to myself. I also really enjoyed the second chance romance trope within this storyline. Through all the silliness there was an emotional side to the story that I really enjoyed. The narrators also did a great job bringing this story to life! I would definitely recommend ti anyone trying to squeeze in one more book before the new year!

Tom is on his way out of the city and he can’t wait to start celebrating the holidays. He is heading to his home town and he is ready to propose to his new girlfriend. What should be a quick flight and a few days of rest, becomes a nightmare road real that tests Katherine and Tom’s very beings. Can they make it to Chicago in one piece? Can they even be friends, at the end of this? Or can they at least find peace and joy during this time of the year? You will have to listen to it to see but you won’t be disappointed. The characters have a way to go to make amends but there is always hope. They are very cute together and their personalities really do show.. and their friendship is undeniable.. even if they can’t see it at first. I want to thank Netgalley & the authors & Blackstone Publishing Audiobooks for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to listen and review this book. Brianna Cohen and Tim Page did an excellent job narrating this story. They made the story that much better. I love a good Holiday Rom Com. I hope you enjoy it too..

Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne and Anthony LeDonne is a quick, cute read. It has a little love triangle, and some quirky wit.
When Catherine suffers a concussion the hospital calls her emergency contact her ex-husband Tom. What unfolds is a trip with one problem after the next and some love along with a little stress.

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.

Think the movie Leap Year but during Christmas time. This was so much fun and I love how giddy it made me.

I read The Prenup a few years ago and remember LOVING it so it's no surprise I absolutely ate this up.

Lauren Layne knows the way to my humor heart. I love how she writes comedy. It just lands so well.

Was this super cheesy and predictable? 1000% yes. But was it everything I wanted and more? 1000% yes.

We meet Katherine, an ambitious New York attorney, who just wants to make her late father proud by succeeding in earning the title of partner in a law firm. Because of this goal, her marriage took a turn and ended.

Then there's Tom. Her incredibly sweet and superhero of a man ex husband. Four years after their marriage, he's ready to propose to someone else. Except plans change when Katherine gets into an accident and he gets the call.

When I tell you I absolutely loved the plot of this, I loved the plot of this. Travel together for the holidays in order to make it in time for the traditional Christmas Eve proposal? Yes, please...I'll take it. So cheesy, so good.

Apart, you can see how different these two are. Together, you can just see how much they still love each other. Their banter was PERFECTION. Their cruel jokes and insults and digs were absolutely hilarious and every one of them landed perfectly. I laughed a lot.

I loved their sarcasm and I loved how after saying something truly hurtful, they always thought to apologize and just be real and vulnerable with each other.

I just love how this story had one problem after another and how as much as they wanted to give up on each other, the chose not to; they chose to stay together and help each other out no matter what.

I just loved watching their relationship begin to heal and grow again. It was beautiful. It was playful and it was exciting.

Every time Katherine mentioned her father, I choked up. Their relationship was so beautiful and how she speaks about him just had me in my feels.

Tom's family is actually hilarious for the fact that they still kept in touch with Katherine and when they see her for the first time, they all completely could care less about Tom's girlfriend.

The ending. Was it predicable? Of course. But it was just so cute and I'm not gonna lie, I got a little teary eyed. I just love how these two are together.

Would this have had me in the true holiday feels even more if I listened to it during Christmas time? Yeah...but it still had the same effect on me as I think it would of in December.

This was just an adorable little rom com and ugh, it made me so happy! I genuinely couldn't stop listening to it.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook!

Even though this novel is set at Christmas, Emergency Contact can (and should) be read all year round. I want to be friends with Katherine and Tom, the novel’s protagonists, and was sad to say goodbye to them when I finished this title. Add this title to your shelf if you like stories of misadventure or second-chance romances.

When Katherine gets diagnosed with a concussion, the hospital calls her emergency contact - her ex-husband Tom. Unable to be left alone, Katherine agrees to travel to Chicago with him for the holidays. But thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure that stirs up old feelings even as Tom prepares to propose to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve.

I thought this was so fun! I’m normally not a fan of the love triangle trope, but I found myself rooting for Katherine and Tom to get back together. I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend the audiobook.

I listened to the audiobook, thank you NetGalley and Blackstone publishing! Super fun and quick book to listen to.

Overall a cute, Christmas love story. Tom does happen to be in a relationship with someone else and planning to propose on Christmas Eve which is a tradition in his family. But he hadn't proposed on Christmas Eve to his ex wife Katherine. But also ick -- Men, do better than proposing on Christmas. But anyway.. just my personal opinion there!

It was fun, cute, funny, but also pretty obvious what was going to happen. :)

Definitely a fun Christmas/winter time read! :)

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing!

So romantic, and a very fun second chance romance. I really enjoyed this one! I didn't expect it to be a holiday read, and it wasn't overpoweringly so, but it added a special twist. I loved this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a first read from these authors and I really did enjoy the book. (My only wish is that the profanity had been left out. It was mostly mild with one F word.)

It has been four years since their divorce when Tom gets a call that his ex-wife Katharine has been in an accident. Apparently she had never changed her emergency contact (mostly because she didn’t have anyone)..

Theirs was not an amicable divorce. Both were left with hard feelings against the other. It is December 23rd and Tom is on his way to the airport to visit his family for Christmas when he gets the call. (So it’s not convenient at all and makes him miss his flight). While there he plans to propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve.

Because Katharine has a concussion and other injuries she must be monitored for the next 48 hours. She reluctantly agrees to go with him to his parents.

Their trip is not an easy one. If anything can go wrong it does! Because of this they keep having delays so they do get lots of time between verbal assaults to finally talk about their marriage and what went wrong.

There was lots of witty banter along with many humorous and awkward situations. (My favorite) I enjoyed their journey and the heartwarming ending as they come to realize what really matters.

I really really loved this second chance romance! Both of the characters are fun and unique, I enjoyed their every squabble and every adventure. This was well written and fast paced. I related to both of the characters, and think that most people will be able to - whether it's about miscommunications, overworking, or holiday travel. Both of the narrators were great. Overall a wonderful listen.

Thank you Blackstone Publishing - Audiobooks for allowing me to read and review Emergency Contact.

Narrators: Brianna Cohen & Tim Paige

Stars: 3

It is important to note this was in the synopsis: "An antagonistic overnight misadventure that stirs up old feelings even as Tom prepares to propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve" and I wanted the girlfriend (class) to prevail.

Take a minute and imagine your friend asks,"what do you think, I'm going to write a book centered around an Emergency Contact." What do you say? I was intrigued and hit request.

There is an accident leaving Katherine unconscious. Her employer notes her ex-husband is to be contacted in an emergency. The timeline worked for me. It was completely plausible -- it's the Christmas season, huge snow storm predicted, overbooked travel, etc. She needs watched for 48 hours, he agrees.

I didn't like their relationship. They banter childishly. The quips were hurtful not teasing. They took away from the story. The audio of them going back and forth was grading on my nerves.

While undergoing a series of incidents trying to maneuver to Tom's parents for Christmas, they begin to reflect on each other and their past. All the while, Tom has a girlfriend, a ring and told both families he is proposing. I was rooting for the girlfriend.

I liked that after the divorce Tom's family kept in touch and included Katherine in family traditions unbeknownst to him.

The authors and I disagree on the ending. I found Cohen a good fit. However, Paige never clicked for me.

There is no foul language. I would only recommend this to a young reader transitioning to easy adult books with guidance. My reader would be mature, and understand satire and respect.

I was lucky enough to get an audiobook of this cute holiday read and I adored it. I thought both narrators did a wonderful job of bringing their story and characters to life.

We start this book off meeting power woman Katherine who is 100% married to her job. As usual she is planning to spend the holidays alone as god forbid that she actually has some fun. Sadly for her, her plans change drastically and even though she is frustrated by that, it could turn out to be the best thing to ever happen to her.

After years apart, she ends up stuck on a road trip with her ex husband Tom, and boy do they bring meaning to the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles. This pair drive each other absolutely crazy but man does it make for a fun storyline.

I really adored the banter between this pair, it was fun, it was sweet, it was just the perfect little holiday read.

If you are looking for an easy quick read I absolutely recommend you pick this one up.

This adorable, heartwarming, clean romance story is a delightful read even when it’s not Christmas. I love an enemies to lovers romance, especially when it’s about two people who find their way back to each other.
