Gentle illustrations tell the story of four friends who find an egg. One spring day while together Bear and Mouse are playing ball and Mouse discovers an egg. Mouse calls to the others and Bear, Hare, and Turtle come running over. The friends decide that since Mouse found the egg, Mouse will have the first turn of taking the egg home and caring for it. Each in their turn host the egg which hatches the second day at Bear's house and becomes Little Bird. Hare helps Little Bird discover what foods to eat and Turtle encourages Little Bird to wonder and dream. Soon enough Little Bird is striking out on her own as the friends learn that they can always learn and grow from one another.

I really, REALLY did not like this book. It felt like the worst knockoff ever of Winnie the Pooh.
The title felt promising, teaching kids about an important lesson of being kind to your friends and not being selfish. However, that had almost no correlation to most of the book. It started out that way, but soon turned into a book about finding your identity? Or maybe finding independence? I had no idea. The whole story was so all over the board, it was hard to find it interesting and entertaining.
Another reason why I didn't like this book was there was no conflict whatsoever. Without conflict, what point does a story have?
In a nutshell, this story was just about a baby bird being born and doing stuff while other people hang around.
One thing that was good was the art. It was soft and bright, perfect for a children's book.

This was such a sweet story.

I loved how this group of friends not only found "little egg" but they made sure to each take turns in taking care of her without fighting. Each animal friend had a role in the "growth" and learning process of little Egg. Each animal friend took their time with little egg and took her to the next house, with a brief explanation of what they just did.

I enjoyed this book with my toddler, all the way to the end.

Though not particularly groundbreaking, this book is really cute. I think adults would likely get more out of it than children would. Though it's structured as a sort-of graphic novel, preschool and kindergarten readers would likely be most engaged in the plot line.

I love this little book! So much is packed into the lovely illustrated pages, including strong friendship, animal habitats, nurturing, taking care of each other, diversity, and it taking a village to raise a child. This book can be a springboard for discussion and further activities. Recommended!

This was special and surprising with a true story arc. The illustrations were precious with real heart and detail. I enjoyed the comic like style of the story. It was unique and the conversations were endearing. Each animal brought their own personality and lessons to the story. I especially enjoyed the ending with its quirky and charming twist. It’s a story about friendship, growing, sharing and self-worth. It is certainly one I would buy for my children and to give to friends and family.

I love the delicate illustrations in this children’s title. They made me want to both look carefully and turn the pages. The story itself is very sweet and also funny.

What happens when friends find an egg? It will mean changes for both them and that egg. Read this with a child as you both wait to see what happens next. It is so cute!

My kids loved this one! The illustrations and storyline are absolutely wonderful! I feel like this one will be a frequent request at bedtime.

This book was super cute!

My daughter and I loved it and we loved the illustrations too! This was a cozy little book about sharing, taking turns, and helping others with with their needs. This book brought about a good conversation and good lesson and those tend to be my favorite kind of kids books.

Would absolutely recommend for your littles!

Everyone Gets a Turn is a cute story about friends learning how to share. When a group of friends come across an egg, they all want to take it home and care for it, resulting in them taking turns. Learning to share is a huge part in growing up and should be expressed early on in life. The illustrations are adorable and easy to follow.

Cute book with adorable illustrations! My two year old enjoyed seeing all of the animals and he learned about chicks hatching!

Dubuc brings her characters to life with fun, joy and compassion. Readers meet four friends who honor playing their own ways. They find an egg and decide to bring it back with them. Their support and friendship comes through with their decision to take turns keeping the egg rather than fighting over it. A lesson to discuss with readers as the story unfolds. Then, the egg hatches and a fifth friend is added to the group. Little Bird has strong opinions and soon establishes their own home and way of being part of the group. I appreciate the emphasis on being who you choose to be even if others have been part of your caretaking. The artwork captures the friends and their surroundings so readers feel they are living in the forest too. A fun read for elementary level readers.

This was such an enjoyable story with cute illustrations and structured scenes. I loved how it talked about self-growth and friendship. This is a must for young readers!
