I’ve rated this 4.5, rounded up to 5.

The author warns at the beginning of the bookthat "there is a lot of sex in this book", and she sure delivers!

What I enjoyed:
- This book was sexy as hell. The explicit scenes begin fairly early in the novel and continue frequently throughout. The author manages to make each scene feel fresh and hot to read. It was definitely on the kinkier side for historical romance, which tends to be pretty tame even when explicit. We get some semi-public sex in a garden, as well as a scene involving strawberries that was reminiscent of an encounter in Suddenly You, one of my favorite historical romances.
- The heroine has a complicated relationship with both her parents (including her estranged birth mother), but they're never demonized. No one-dimensionsal villainous parents here.
- A non-virgin heroine who is no shrieking violet; she's never ashamed of herself or her sexuality. Her sexual exploration with the hero is eager and enthusiastic. In their first scene together, the heroine gives the hero a firm dressing down about the double standards in society regarding women and men who seek their pleasure.
- The side characters were well-formed and had their own interesting arcs, especially the heroine's best friend and fiancée who were a delightfully wholesome couple that you wanted to have their own HEA. The sister-in-law has a great scene where she shatters a vase to break up a fight between the hero and the heroine's brother that was pretty badass. Also, I would gladly read a book about Montaigne!
- We get a sweet scene of the heroine tending to the hero's wounds. Which turns steamy when Trem is more than willing to figh through the pain to be with Henrietta again.
- Representation for characters of color, and commentary on their place in society through the heroine's best friend, mother and fiancé, without feeling out of place.
- Loss and grief, and the different ways they manifest or can occur, are important themes in this story. The hero and heroine have fairy deep and candid discussions about their individual trauma that was refreshing.

This book surprised me in that when the hero and heroine ended up together fairly early in the story, I expected some sort of drama to lead to a break up and the third act to be devoted to their reconciliation. That is typically how these stories go - instead, the second half about the book is not only about them strengthening their relationship, but about their individual character development, particularly that of the heroine. This is also where their relationship grows from lust to love, and we get more tender moments rather than just steamy sex (although there is still plenty of that!).

All in all, a great read if you’re looking for a sexy historical romance with plenty of steam and good writing.

I love a good historical romance when written properly and this one does not disappoint. The author did a good job of building the story between the H&h so you could feel the connection and were rooting for them. The storyline itself was a little different than what I would consider a traditional historical romance. The heroine was strong and determined and wanted what she wanted even if it was a bit outside of what was considered acceptable at the time for a female and the viscount just wanted to save her from herself. It was an easy read and I didn't get bored like I have been recently with most novels in this genre.

I enjoyed this book. Lydia Lloyd’s ,'When the Viscount Wanted Me’ surprised me, as the general premise initially turned me off. However, Lloyd’s ability to create a narrative was engaging and enjoyable.

The characters in are well-defined and likable, even if I was frustrated with them at times. While this is a standalone, I think that it might be better appreciated after reading the first book in the series. I did not, and I regretted it to some extent. I think I would have enjoyed certain interactions between characters more if I was more familiar with them.

Lydia Lloyd has been an absolute fantastic addition to my historical romance to go to authors club. Her newest book When the Viscount Wanted Me is just as fun as her previous book. I was worried this wouldn’t live up to the hype of her first book, but I was wrong. If you’re looking for a different take on historical romance, this is the book for you! I loved how Henrietta empowered herself and Trem was right there by her side.

This was a quick, enjoyable, smutty read! Both main characters had quirks & were still relatable. The writing was intriguing and thorough & I enjoyed the book!

When the viscount wanted me by Lydia Lloyd is such a brilliant book. This book is just my cup of tea.

This book have a high sexual tension, suspense, dark past, angst, explicit spicy scenes, heart breaking moments and tears. This book keep reader at the edge of their seat. The spiciness of this book is just intense. The book shows that women also responsible for their own desire. They have the right to choose the man who they want to bed which is very refreshing storyline from any other book.

I'll definitely be waiting for more books from Lydia Lloyd and I'm looking forward to read the next part.

Yes, you'll need to turn that heat down because once you read this book, you'll need some alone time! Trem and Henrietta just spark the flames with their longing for one another and I enjoy every page. Amazing story that breaks all stigma for historical romance. Page turner and it leaves you wanting more when this ends.

10/10

Agh I was really looking forward to this book based on the synopsis but I just could not get invested in it. If you are all for a very open door and quick romance, this is definitely for you, but I find that I adore the slow burn.

When the Viscount wanted me is the story of the Viscount of Tremberley and Lady Henrietta Breminster.

The minute Lord Hugh, Viscount Tremberley hears the Earl of Hartley talking about his best friend’s little sister in a intimate way, he stands to make right by her. Little did he know that by rescuing her he would rescue himself. On the other hand, Lady Henrietta who always cared deeply for her brother’s best friend challenges him with her secrets, passion and impulsive decisions while dealing with a dangerous stalker.

I read this book as a stand-alone before reading “When the Duke loved me” which is the first book from the Rake Chronicles series. Every reference to the past was well explained here so you would be able to follow the story perfectly.

Prepare yourself to read lots of sex scenes with a low suspense level plot.

Lydia Lloyd has long been a favorite follow for me on bookstagram. When her first novel came out, I'll admit I was worried it might not live up to the hype I'd built up in my head. No worries there - it was an easy 5 stars for me. If you haven't read When the Duke Loved Me yet, run don't walk to pick it up.

When the Viscount Wanted Me quickly cemented itself as another favorite for me. The tropes all hit the spot - older brother's best friend, reformed rake MMC, age gap (10 years, she's 22). Trem and Henrietta, whose romance was teased in the first book of the series, get together relatively quickly (and in a way you don't often see in HR) but there's plenty of plot left - though it is relatively low stakes.

Pick this up if you're looking for:
- non-traditional regency heroine
- plenty of sex in your HR
- low stakes plot
- instalove (although the characters have known each other since they were children)

I think this would be fine as a standalone if you haven't read book one, but I think you'll appreciate it more if you read When the Duke Loved Me first (doesn't hurt that book one is even better than book two in my opinion).

I really quite enjoyed this book. This was a new author to me and I hate no issue with this not being the first in the series. I liked both the main characters but I loved the cast of character in all! Each really added to the story and we’re interesting and I would be happy reading even reading just a short novella of all them. Also her best friend had my name so of course I love that. I don’t love the brothers best friend troupe cause the age gap and then romanticizing their meetings when the heroine is very young always is kind of gross but that didn’t happen in this book and I liked that the MMC acknowledges that for there romance to work it would have happened now as she was an adult. I appreciated that she was 22 and that she was very much in to wanting to experience passion. Their first time together happens quickly and is very hot. Thank you NetGalley and to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was my first time reading this author and this story was a really bonkers plot in a very fun way. I think sometimes the plot had too much going on, (there was a point where they explain what happened in book 1 and for someone like me who hadn't read it, it made me dizzy!) but for the most part it was a fun story about a young woman who had an indiscretion with a guy and it taking this for her brother's best friend to start looking at her in a new light -as a potential romantic interest.

Very good. I usually don’t like the brothers best friend with heroine theme- but I enjoyed this one. It was fast paced and steamy! A good read!

When The Viscount Wanted Me was so much fun to read!

This was my first Lydia Lloyd but it definitely will not be my last, especially given how much I loved all of the secondary characters that filled out the world. I want every single one to get their own book and I will read them all in a second. But keeping with the main event of Trem and Henrietta, I absolutely loved this couple. There is no dawdling for time with their story, they get together very quickly (a praise, not a criticism) and it genuinely left me in suspense of what the rest of the book was going to entail.

I shouldn't have worried at all because what happens afterward is action packed, emotional, and a story that really delves into family and friendship and how those bonds are tried and tested. I don't want to give too much of the plot specifics away but what I dearly loved about this book was how much Lloyd filled out the world with characters that undoubtedly existed in the time period but who are rarely highlighted. Sebastian and Cordelia left me hoping for a book that followed them, Mrs. Seymour was so fascinating, and I would die for a Mary Forster and Mr. Ryeston prequel.

This was a good story. The plot was interesting and a page turner. I really enjoyed reading this book and it was the right amount of spice.

When I started reading this book, the first thing that came to my mind was, 'Damn Henrietta!'. This book is quite spicy, so if you are not into that, then don't read the novel. The story as a whole was enjoyable; Trem and Henrietta were well-suited for each other and the plot development was superb.

It never stops being an absolute thrill reading an author for the very first time and falling in love with their every word page after page. The beauty of Lydia Lloyd’s writing and the detail with which she renders her characters took my breath away.

I'd been looking forward to Trem and Henrietta's romance ever since they were teased in When the Duke Loved Me, and it doesn't take very long for them to get together in this book, that too, thanks to another man, inadvertently.

I appreciated this book's treatment of sex and female sexuality; Henrietta is curious about sex and decides to experiment with a friend (who is not the hero), and her experience is a good one. You don't see this in a lot of historical romances, namely, the heroine having premarital sexual experience before the hero, or if she does, the experience is a positive (and consensual) one. When Trem demands to know why she did this, Henrietta quickly makes him realize "because I wanted to" is an absolutely valid answer, like it always has been for men. And Henrietta explicitly acknowledges the pregnancy risk and states she would be fine with having Trem's child out of wedlock, which, again, isn't something I see very often in a historical romance. Also, I did find it funny that while Trem felt suuuuper guilty about debauching his best friend's sister to the point where he sent ye olde batsignal to his other friends to counsel him, that didn't stop him from doing it over and over again (not that Henrietta was complaining)

Here is where I became a bit confused about the direction of the plot and conflict: Henrietta and Trem quickly become engaged without revealing they've had sex to Henrietta's brother John (the previous hero and Trem's best friend). John is happy at first but becomes suspicious about why they've suddenly decided to get married. After that, he devolves into this almost comic state of immaturity and freezes out Trem. On top of that, Hartley is demanding Henrietta marry him and goes as far as to make a public fuss, but he's never quite treated as a villain and is instead treated as a mere nuisance. Eventually, Henrietta runs away to see her birth mother, with Trem chasing after her, however, even that conflict is quickly resolved between them as well as Henrietta and her birth mother. Hartley ends up making a random, final appearance where he does actually try something dastardly, but there's still no explanation or motivation for his actions.

There were also a couple plot points I think could have been explored further: Henrietta is given an opportunity to run a ladies' magazine, and she wants to expand its offerings to include political articles on subjects such as abolition. In addition, Trem comes to the realization that he's, well, an indolent lord, and he could be doing more with his life, but there isn't much development or discussion on that front apart from his one grand gesture near the end of the book.

The sex:

Plentiful would be the best way to put it. Trem seduces Henrietta by asking her to show him exactly what she did with Hartley which I thought was just great, and after that, nothing can stop these two: Not being in a public ball or the middle of the woods, not cockblocking siblings, not even gunshot wounds (as Trem tells Henrietta, "I could fuck you with a bullet in both [arms]").

Funnily enough, this will be the second book this year I'll be recommending by saying if you felt cheated by that scene in A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas where St. Vincent insinuates he's going to use a pearl necklace on Evie but we never read the follow-through, this is your book.

Overall:

I'd recommend this book for anyone looking for a historical romance with instalove, plenty of sex, and a relatively low-stakes plot.
