This book follows on from The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctor’s Widow which I thoroughly enjoyed and this book certainly didn’t disappoint. We meet up again with Fern (the doctor’s wife), who has changed her name and appearance and is now on the run with her baby. Alice (the doctor’s mistress) has been recently released from prison and is struggling coping with her baby. She is desperate to track down Fern, with the help of Tomlin the detective who was on the case. Alice is out to wreak revenge on Fern who framed her for the murder of her husband. Unbeknown to Alice, Tomlin has hired a previous investigator friend to try to
find Fern. Will he be successful? This was another great book and I look forward to the next one in the series.

I was not able to finish the book and therefore do not feel that I can give an unbiased review about the book, its plot, characters, or the author's work. I might revisit this book at a later time and finish it then, but not right now.

In the past year or so, I really enjoyed me discovering Daniel Hurst and binge-reading his popcorn thrillers: The Couple in the Cabin, The Holiday Home and, of course, The Doctor’s Wife & The Doctor's Widow. They were addictive and fun and I would rush to get back to find out what would happen next. So, when I discovered there would be a third (and possibly) final book in this series, I jumped on it.

Only, this time, I didn’t find this fun or addictive reading. I found it boring, frustrating and struggled to pick up the story once I put it down. Which isn’t good.

Now, this might be because I’m not in the same place than I was when I read Hurst’s previous last year. But there were things that happened or were revealed very early on in this instalment that made me start picking holes in the plot and questioning the decisions that the characters (and the author) made or whether these happened for shock twist value.

In my honest opinion, this is the weakest out of the Doctor’s Wife series. Which is really annoying as the both Doctor’s Wife and Doctor’s Widow were gripping, fun reads. But this was a slog and made me not care about the characters nor the situation they were

This book is number #3 in the doctor series. I like Daniels writing and I simply couldnt put it down until I knew what was going on. Told by multiple povs. I recommend you read the other books first.

Its been nice to get a series from the author and i have enjoyed all three

Not as good as books 1 and 2 and i feel that the story could have ended with 2 however the mistress does get her side told

My Thoughts: This is the third book in The Doctor’s Wife series and does a phenomenal job at tying the three novels together, but is it the end? I love the way Hurst writes, full of secrets, betrayal, and twists. Even the twists have twists. Hurst is also known for suspending belief within the plot lines, which I have no problem with. Even though this is a series book, there is enough repetition in the book to be read as a standalone, however, for maximum character enrichment, I would recommend reading all three in order. Alice was freed from jail and is swept up in getting revenge on Fern, almost to the point of loosing the luster for life, including her own child. Fern has been in hiding with her own child for some time and has even established some friendships and routines, a dangerous activity for someone on the run. This follows the tropes of revenge, desperation, and a parent would do anything, I mean anything for their child and/or to keep their child safe. This also follows the cat and mouse theme with a larger than life finale that was just perfection.

The story was narrated by the widow, Tess/Fern, the mistress, Alice, and the ex-detective, Tomlin. I loved the different play on the narrators in this installment. Tess/Fern has devious undercuts but has mellowed out with a baby in tow and the baby is the only thing that matters to her. Where for Alice, the only thing that matters to her is revenge, and everything, her relationship and child are an afterthought. The characters are not likable, written that way, but in someways could be relatable. The characters were developed with depth, envy, mystery, and brilliantly curated. The author’s writing style was complex, twisty, suspenseful, and just brilliant. The characters were established and the backstory continued a bit, there were some flashbacks with the good ole doctor, the plot was delivered in many twisty layers, and the ending, I LOVED the ending!

I have both the digital and audio ARCs. This was a fast paced, dark, captivating psychological thriller that will keep you turning pages, or escaping to listen. I loved this whole series so much that I have read some of Hurst’s other works. I think my favorite of the series was the second book, but this one was still great! If you like Freida McFadden, you will love Hurst. I highly recommend this book. Available in Kindle Unlimited.

This book series started out fantastic, I was all in, by the 3rd book, I am out ! It's dragged on and it didn't work for me. It felt frantic and rushed, I didn't like the pace of the book, I had to really talk myself into reading it any further.

I enjoyed this much more than the second book in the series, it was super fast paced and really made you feel like you couldn’t trust anybody. It was slightly far fetched at times but overall a good twisty turny thriller.

The Doctor’s Mistress is the third installment in this series. Fern is on the run and Alice is out for revenge. The story is told from the POV of Alice, Fern, and Detective Devlin. I am always impressed when a thriller makes me care about the characters and their lives. Daniel Hurst has a talent for keeping me in suspense while keeping me invested in the characters as well. The plot is fast-paced with a constant sense of foreboding. I found myself cheering for both the wife and mistress at different times. The conclusion was unexpected and satisfying. I was entertained, gripped, and enjoyed every minute of this twisted saga. Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy.

Another thrilling, tense, and twisted 5 star book (I'd give it 10 stars if I could) by Daniel Hurst. I swear ya'll that he can't write a bad book. I've lost count of how many of his books I've read because they are so insanely good.

The Doctor's Mistress is the third in the series and it's just as good as the first two, where a wife and the mistress are playing a game of cat and mouse. Both women loved the wrong man. Both cannot move on with their lives when they are hell bent on revenge! This book is told through 3 POV's- Fern, Alice, and Tomlin. I love the different perspectives because it seems to make the story more fast paced and by the third book, the characters are already beautifully developed. The beginning of the book sets the tone and the pace quickly speeds up as the story develops. There are juicy twists and turns making this book simply unputdownable. One of them is hiding and one of them is hunting. Has either one of them truly changed now that they are both mothers? I guess you'll have to read to find out. I recommend this book and this author every chance I get!

I thought this was an exciting and surprising end to what was a very suspenseful and sometimes jaw dropping trilogy! In order to appreciate the brilliance of this author and this series you really should read The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctor’s Widow before this book and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Daniel Hurst continues the intrigue with this 3rd instalment of the Doctor’s Wife series. Once again, he’s written a hard to put down, quick read. Reading the books in order is ideal but not crucial to enjoying the books independently.
My ARC expired before I had the chance to get to the final pages……I’ll be at the store, after the release date, to pickup a copy and find out how things wrap up for Fern.

Francis, and Sarah Durham is the third book in the Doctor's Wife series and this series has been 5 stars especially as it is an addictive psychological thriller with a breathtaking twist that will have you gripped from the beginning till the very end. I just loved it. Once I started to listen to The Doctor's Mistress I could not put it down.

What a start of a book.

I can't recommend this series enough....So sit back open your kindle of listen to your audiobook. It will not disappoint It is one of the best psychological thriller series out there.

The Doctor's Mistress is the third book in The Doctor's Wife series. I have read each of the books in this series and have enjoyed them all. I think this could be a stand-alone read, but for me I enjoyed reading them one after the other.

This one focuses on both Alice and Fern's lives after Alice is released from prison after a wrongful judgement. Both women now have a child to care for and seem to be struggling mostly because of what started as a result of Fern's husband having an affair.

Both women are looking for revenge after what they suffered from loving the same man. But when one of the baby's lives becomes in danger who will be able to rescue the child and will it change the course of the women's lives going forward.

I really liked the series, although I didn't like the characters. For me, they come off very selfish. I think it's possible to dislike the characters and enjoy the story at the same time. The writing is very good as the story relives some of the events of the past that brings us to the present. But it also told from several points of views which gives an insight to each of the characters state of mind. I highly recommend this book and series.

Enjoyed this book as much as the other two in the series. One of my favorite series this year! Didnt want this story to end. Really enjoyed the main characters...the good and bad side of each of them.
