The Doctor's Mistress is the third book in The Doctor's Wife series. It is fast paced and intriguing. It kept me hooked and turning the pages long after I should have put the book down for the night.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

The Doctor's Mistress is the third book in Hurst's exciting series, The Doctor's Wife, and like the previous books it delivered a gripping and twisted tale.   A tale of two women whose love for a cheater brought nothing but despair in their lives. The wife is on the run for murder. The mistress languishes in prison for a crime she did not commit.  In this instalment, both women are caught in a game of cat and mouse with only one outcome, who will have the ultimate revenge.

In The Doctor's Mistress, Alice, the mistress name is cleared, and she has been released from prison. However, her troubles have just begun. She gave birth to the doctor's child, and she is not coping well in taking care of the baby. Her prison experience coupled with her obsession for revenge made her life a mess. If it wasn't for her relationship with the detective who investigated the doctor's murder, which led to her gong to prison, the poor child would have suffered more.

Alice is not the only who gave birth, Fern is also a new mother. Now not only is she fighting to stay out of prison for herself, she now has a baby to consider. So she is willing to do what it takes to ensure her daughter does not end up in the foster care.

The characters of course are not nice people, but I had my favourite. Despite Fern's diabolical nature, I secretly hoped she would continue to evade capture. As for Alice, I was never a fan of hers from the beginning and that has not changed even after all that transpired in The Doctor's Mistress. As for the detective, I am still trying to figure out his reasons for his involvement with Alice. I am not sure if he was with her out of guilt, pity, or both.

Can the Doctor's Mistress work as a stand-alone? Probably, Hurst provide sufficient information for readers new to the series. However, for full enjoyment, I recommend you start with The Doctor's Wife and read the series in order.

This is as much detail I am willing to give because to provide more will only lead to spoilers. However, readers who are big fans of the revenge trope will want to pick up this series.  Readers can prepare for another fast-paced, twisty, and crazy edge of your seat ride.

Having read the other 2 in this series and absolutly loved them, I was intrigued as to how the story would develop.

I have to say I did find it slow going to start with, with some slight repetition from the last 2 books as the characters background was described. However it certainly did warm up and as per previous books, the twists and turns kept coming with an ending I certainly didn't predict.

What did come through, was the bond and unconditional love between mother and child which will always outshine any other demands and how this shaped the ending to the book.

Highly recommend this series and can't wait to see what the last book will hold.

Man, I love Daniel Hurst's writing and this series. I absolutely loved the first two books in the series and this one was a really great follow up. I was really interested to see where Daniel would take this one and it was along the lines of what I was expecting but had a lot of surprises as well. The characters were once again extremely dynamic and never boring. I do wish there had been a bit more cat and mouse play in this one but thought overall it was really well done. The ending of this book was particularly amazing and a great way to end the series. Daniel Hurst's releases are an automatic read for me now because you'll never find yourself bored or waiting for the story to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The doctors mistress by Daniel Hurst.
The doctors wife book 3.
Alice is the mistress and she was wrongly accused of murdering Doctor Drew Devlin. But she is out of prison and wants revenge. Will she get it?
I really enjoyed this book. Love this series. I did like Alice and Fern. Victoria i did feel for her. I felt for both of them. I did not see that coming. 4*.

The doctor’s mistress is the 3rd book in the doctor’s wife series which can be read as a standalone.
But I would recommend reading the first two books first.
The book is told from the POV of Alice, Tess (Fern) and Tomlin (the detective).
Tess (Fern) is on the run with her baby leaving bodies in her wake.
Alice (former mistress) with baby is out of prison after being set up. Her prison sentence has been dropped in light of new evidence. Alice is now in a relationship with the detective Tomlin who is after Tess (Fern).
Tess (Fern) is adamant not to get caught even going as far as changing her name.
But Alice can’t wait to find her and seek revenge.
I didn’t see the ending coming at all I so saw it going another way but was very surprised.
Another great book written by Daniel Hurst which I would give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and would definitely recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy.

A very well deserved 5 stars from me for this one - if it wasn’t for work I would have finished it in one sitting, honestly brilliant!

Alice is doctor Drew Delvin’s mistress, this book follows her story and the doctors wife, Fern. Fern killed her husband and framed Alice for his murder and now it’s time for Alice to get her revenge. Only Fern hasn’t been seen for some time, she went on the run so revenge isn’t as easy to come by as Alice had hoped.

Fern changes her identity and moves to Cornwall, where she befriends her neighbour - but what lengths would she go to keep her neighbour on her side?

Once Alice & Fern come face to face again, will that revenge be worth it?

Alice is out of jail and about to give birth soon after her release she starts dating the detective Tomlin but Alice has other issues for one her need for revenge overrides her need for common sense she’s also hanging around her friend she met in prison drinking too much and even at one point endangering her new baby little Evelyn who seems to never stop crying. Fern is still on the run in living in Yorkshire she too has a little girl in a new friend named Victoria who lives across the hall from her in the Slummy apartment house she stays in she has run out of money and is desperately trying to get into Drew’s email so she can sign into his Cayman bank account because she is absolutely broke. Knowing people or on her trail she must Lilo but it will be her desperate need for Drews money that will cause the ultimate showdown. There were many things about book 3 that I thought I could’ve lived without. more than once I thought Daniel hearst should’ve let dead dogs lie after Book2 but the ending of this book is so good and so worth reading the rest for. it isn’t boring by no means but it also isn’t as thrilling as the first two books. the ending makes up for all of that. I love his books and so wasn’t too disappointed but no he’s done better it’s still so worth reading as I said. I want to thank Bookoucher and Net Galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This is part 3 in The Doctors' Wife series called The Doctors Mistress. I received a copy from Bookouture via Netgalley and it is out today, the sixth of December.

Again we follow Fern who is on the run as we have seen at the end of Book 2. We also follow Alice and Tomlin who are a couple now and who are still obsessed with catching Fern. There are a few new characters but the main story is still Alice trying to find Fern and make her pay for whatever she caused.

Just like the other books I like the fact that each chapter has a different protagonist changing from Alice to Fern and also sometimes Tomlin. That makes a story quite fast paced and interesting to read because it changes perspectives each time. The characters are well developed because it's already book three and the story remains pretty much the same as it is a continuing story from book one onwards and does remain a very interesting story. The author manages to captivate the reader again with this perfectly written book.

4,5/5 ⭐

Possible spoilers if you havent read The previous 2 books............

The third in the series and we follow Alice, a new mother, recently released from prison as it became clear she did not murder Dr Drew Devlin. That woman was his wife Fern who is on the run, also with a newborn baby. Alice is out for revenge for her time incarcerated and as such finds it hard to bond with Evelyn.
The story alternates between the 2 women as their lives become parallel to each other.
Having spent the last book disliking Ferns character, this time I found Alice annoying, she came across very whiny and unlikeable especially with her dialogue with Tomlin, maybe it's because of how she suffered but its testament to Daniels writing that he can provoke such a reaction. A good story to end a great series

Another thrilling, gripping and twisted tale by Daniel Hurst where a wife and the mistress are playing a game of cat and mouse. Both women loved the wrong man. Both cannot move on with their lives - not when revenge is getting in their way!

This book will work as a stand-alone but I highly suggest reading the first two books: The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctor's Widow before taking on this bad boy girl. They are both gripping and entertaining books.

Alice was the Doctor's mistress and spent time in jail for Doctor Drew Devlin’s murder. She has been released after being cleared of the crime, has a baby and is looking for revenge. Tess/Fern is hiding and on the run. She also has a baby in tow and is constantly looking over her shoulder.

This book is told through 3 POV's and kept me on my toes. I had both the book and the audiobook which made for an enjoyable reading experience. I enjoyed the tension, the pacing, and the cat and mouse feel of this book. I have enjoyed reading about Fern/Tess and Alice from the very first book in the series and enjoyed reading about them once again. Have they changed? Have they grown now that they are mothers? You will have to read to find out. This was a fast paced and addictive read which had me turning the pages!

Addictive, fast paced, thrilling and tense.

This book gives new meaning to the old saying somewhere hot hath no fury like a woman scorned. The two main characters in this book are a hot mess. One is on the run for her life, and the other is head set on getting her revenge. This is book #3 in The Doctor's Wife series. If you have read books 1 and 2, there is a lot of repeat of what happened in those two books, but I guess it was necessary for the newbies reading this series for the first time. Fern is living in relative obscurity by trying to fly under the radar. After all she is a murderess who has no qualms about killing anyone who gets in her way. She has calmed down a bit now that she has a young child to care for, but it is still about survival of the fittest.

Alice is the other woman who actually served some time for allegedly killing Fern's husband. Fern set her up for his murder. Revenge was sweet for Fern. However, when it was proven that she did not, in fact, kill the good doctor, she was released. Now she has revenge on the brain. This lust for revenge has consumed every area of her life. She cannot even enjoy her new baby (compliments of the good doctor). Her days are spent daydreaming of what she is going to do to Fern when she finds her.

The book is mostly told from POV of Fern and Alice, but the good detective who has taken up residence with Alice has a few chapters with his name at the head. Everything is about to come to a head with the battle of wills between these two women. The ending was quite shocking, although not the usual gasp worthy ending that I am used to seeing with Daniel Hurst. This one was definitely not my favorite, but it still kept me glued to the pages as I awaited the explosion that was going to happen when these two women met once again. I would still give it four stars just because Daniel Hurst knows how to hook you in to his stories. I honestly do not like either of these women. One is a killer with no regard for human life, and the other is an adulterer who is also a user of people. I guess I was not supposed to like them. They actually deserved each other and their scorn for one another.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another fast paced instalment of this series which was very hard to put down. Really enjoyable and would have concluded the series well, except there may be a fourth book coming!! Can't wait for that one.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Doctor’s Mistress’, book 3 in the Doctor’s Wife series written by Daniel Hurst, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Fern, wife of the late Dr Drew Devlin, is on the run with a new identity and her baby Cecilia.
Alice is the mistress of the Doctor and while struggling to bond with her baby Evelyn is intent on getting revenge on Fern for being mistakenly imprisoned for the Doctor’s murder.

‘The Doctor’s Mistress’ is the first book I’ve read in the series but I don’t feel that I’ve missed out by not reading books one and two. I’ve been involved with the characters from page one, so keen to know who was going to win the battle of retribution that I’ve been unable to stop reading. This is a thoroughly enjoyable psychological thriller that contains drama, intrigue and twists and turns, and I can definitely recommend it.

Oh my! This is absolutely the best of the series! I loved every minute of it! I really loved to see the dynamics unraveling between the two archenemies and the struggle Alice has with bonding with her child as a new mom who already suffered so much. I cannot recommend this book enough. The good thing is I believe you don't need to read the previous ones (it is of course preferrable to get the underlaying story) to understand this one solo. Kudos to Mr Hurst, I can't wait to read more from you! Thank you for such a wonderful, thrilling ride!

This third book in The Doctor's Wife series may a must read, but it is not an amazing read. With the antics Fern (the wife) has been up to in the first two books, it is difficult to keep the story arc in acceleration mode. Alice (the mistress) has had quite a change for the better. Yet, she is obsessed with revenge and cannot enjoy her sweet little girl Evelyn. Fern also has baby of her own(Cecilia) in her care. Thus our two dueling MCs are somewhat subdued by the babies they are now responsible for. It was quite exciting to imagine the two eventually meeting. When they actually do, this book loses a star. And the police investigator Tomlin is such a pathetic excuse for a law enforcement worker. There goes another star! If you have read both books one and two, I do think you will find some closure in finishing the series with this one. You could also make up your own endings for Fern and Alice and call it a day.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I was a bit worried about reading this as haven’t read the previous two but it was good, and not like I was missing out.
I wouldn’t say it was a psychological thriller but it was a good, easy read that I finished in a day.

The Doctor's Mistress is book 3 in the series.

I loved book 1 and 2 and was looking forward to seeing how the saga concluded.

I didn't feel like this installment had quite as much wow factor as the previous two. Quite a bit of backstory from the first two books.

Don't get me wrong. I still greatly enjoyed the book and there were a few surprises. I guess you can't have as many jaw dropping moments in the conclusion of the story.

The characters were still written very well and had the same feel to them. The continuity between the three books was consistent.

I will still read anything Hurst writes. Love his work.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

@danielhurstbooks continues to deliver without fail with a fantastic finale to this trilogy.

This series is the book that keeps on giving! The follow up to The Doctors Wife, The Doctors Widow was a delightful surprise, and this was the perfect ending.

I don’t want to give any spoilers to the earlier books - just to say that I loved this trilogy from start to finish. Daniel Hursts writing style is gripping keeping me hooked from beginning to end, and easy to read.

You need to read these in order, so if you haven’t yet, order yourself The Doctors Mistress immediately!

Thanks to @bookouture @netgalley and @danielhurstbooks for this ARC.

The third book in the series and just as good as the last one. Daniel Hurst is definitely on my favourite authors list.

Fern’s life has dramatically changed after being on the run. Not only has she had to change her identity to escape her crimes, but she also now has a 3 month baby daughter, Cecilia, to look after and very little money to her name. She has managed to settle in Southern Cornwall with the help of fake documents and is now known as Teresa Brown, but she is still looking over her shoulder knowing that one wrong move will end up with her getting arrested, sent to prison and Cecilia being taken away from her. Alice is now living back in Arberness after being released from prison when Fern’s confession came to light. She also has a baby daughter, albeit older than Ferns, 8 month old Evelyn, but has a helping hand in the form of her now boyfriend Detective Tomlin which is a relief as Alice is struggling to bond with Evelyn. All Alice can think of is revenge. Whilst Fern is free and living her life after framing Alice for Drew’s murder Alice cannot rest, she feels every second that Fern is free feels like another insult for all she put Alice through. The police are still looking for Fern but having no luck so unbeknown to Alice, Detective Tomlin decides to employ a private investigator friend to find Fern and finally get Alice, Drew and Greg some justice. Who, if anyone, will find Fern first; the police or the private investigator and will Alice get the closure and justice she deserves, and will Detective Tomlin get to right his wrong of sending an innocent woman to prison or will Fern carry on evading them?!

This book was just as good as the first and second and a fitting end to the saga of Fern, Drew, Alice, Rory, Greg and Detective Tomlin. I am so pleased I waited until I had all three ready to binge read as waiting for them to slowly be published would have been so difficult! I didn’t see the twist coming with Victoria (but I will say no more about as this is a spoiler free review) which was great and although I was surprised by the ending, I think it was a good end to such a crazy story. Fern is still in my top 5 book villains. I actually think this series would make a really good television drama series!

Once again, a great psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst and one I highly recommend. Wholly deserved 5 stars! I look forward to seeing what Daniel Hurst writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture my advanced reading copy. Out 6th December 2023.
