You know that someone really understands something when they are able to explain it well enough for other people to understand. ADHD is misunderstood and often overused as a topic by people who don't understand it, but Jessica McCabe knows how to explain it in a way that makes sense.
Even better, there are so many pieces of advice so that someone with ADHD can better deal with the world. Step by step, you can learn things you can do to make life easier and less stressful.
I recommend this for anyone suffering from ADHD, both adults and teens, and for family members trying to help their young relatives cope.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

In a house surrounded by people with ADHD, I have been spending an inordinate amount of time learning about the diagnosis and how to best support. This book was heartfelt and gave me a lot of insight into how to think about the reality they are facing. I'd recommend to anyone functioning with ADHD or living with/having a relationship (of any sort) with someone who has it.

From the creator of the Youtube channel with the same name as this book comes a book all about ADHD and how to navigate it. I thought she did a great job creating a book that presents a lot of examples, tools, and support. I also liked there was a chapter for those who want to support their loved ones who have ADHD. This is where I fall in. I feel like I learned a lot here so that I can better understand my husband who has ADHD!

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was incredible for me. I found out this year about my ADHD and have had a hard time connecting my experiences with others and how they reflect with the diagnosis. The book made me feel less alone and is a really great tool for anyone struggling with this.

I was first introduced to Jessica McCabe by the psychologist who had performed neuropsych testing on our daughter, At one point in our discussion, she pulled up one of Jessica's videos and said that it would explain, much better than she, the way the ADHD brain works. At that point I was hooked.

How to ADHD, the book is just as amazing. McCabe, who is neurodivergent herself, explains in simple terms how the neurologically different brain processes information and offers tips and strategies on how to navigate a world that is not designed for them. She teaches the reader that the goal is not to force your brain to work in the same way as the majority of people - that is not going to happen. The goal is to implement real tangible strategies to learn how to work with your brain. As she says "Forget “try harder.” When your brain works differently, you need to try different."

She has more to offer than just shared experiences and strategies. McCabe also shows you how to recognize your strengths and instills a confidence and validation that may not present in many of the readers.

She does not pretend to have the cure. What she has is a toolkit to help you thrive in your life. In this book, Jessica McCabe shows that she sees you. You are not alone. You are wonderful just the way you are.
This should be required reading for families of and ADHD individuals. I know my copy is already on pre-order.

My thanks to NetGalley and Rodale Inc. for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was an interesting read. Some valid and handy knowledge regarding ADHD. It added a personal implement to the story of the writers ADHD journey.

I've been watching Jessica McCabe's "How to ADHD" Youtube channel with regularity a few months now - not as someone who manages ADHD themselves, but as someone who has had several loved ones get diagnosed diagnosed within the last year. I have found her videos to be so informative, so clarifying, and above all, just so helpful in giving me a better understanding of this condition, and how to enjoy stronger relationships with those in my life who need to manage.

And as soon as I was able to start reading her brand new book, I found it to be just as fantastic an aid. In its clear, wonderfully accessible layout and writing, not only have I received some good reminder lessons that I first encountered on McCabe's channel, I've been learning so much new information that I feel like I need to start having a notebook handy whenever I pick up "How to ADHD." It just helps explain so much, and provides so much context - not to mention a few potential strategies for me.

This is such, such, SUCH a helpful guide - not only to the neurodivergent, but to neurotypicals too (or at least it is to this one enormously appreciative reader outside of the target audience).
