Heiress Olivia Owens wants revenge on her father for cheating on her mother, then kicking Olivia and her mother out of their home and the only life they've ever known. Olivia's mother is in debt and struggling and Olivia is not about to happily watch her father marry wife #3. She's planned a heist to steal millions from him during his wedding, but can she pull it off when her ex-boyfriend and many other obstacles get in the way?

HEIRESS TAKES ALL was just plain escapist fun, with a dash of romance that kept me turning pages one after the other, racing to the thrilling finish. I loved every second of it! While there was a certain element of having to suspend a bit of disbelief, I almost didn't care about that. I was too invested in Olivia and the crew she had worked to establish, the roles being played, the high-stakes con, and the heartbreak waiting in Olivia's interactions with her ex-boyfriend, Jackson.

This is my first read by Emily Wibberly and Austin Seigemund-Broka and now I'm kicking myself for that. Wow! Seriously, every chapter ending on a mini-cliffhanger kept me going. Every new threat to the plan, every new thing that side-tracked the plan, every moment Jackson tugged at Olivia's heart, every time her emotions got involved--all I wanted was to keep going, see her figure it out. I was totally invested in this book and actually read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! And oh, the tug at my heart-strings as Olivia battled with trying to figure out if she could trust Jackson and let him back in. Ouch, my heart.

Fans of Leverage will love this book. Filled with twists and turns, HEIRESS TAKES ALL kept me wondering what would happen next.

“Why pull a heist when you can be an heiress?”

Emily and Austin are autobuy authors for me for a reason, and with this foray into a new young adult sub genre for them, they’ve further solidified that. There’s absolutely nothing these two can’t write that isn’t pure magic, and HEIRESS TAKES ALL is simply another layer to the already impressively tiered cake of their career.

I was completely obsessed with the premise of this one, of a scorned heiress attending her father’s wedding simply to swindle him out of the inheritance she was owed. And with the Chess Club crew at her back, things should’ve gone off without a hitch. In fact, the act of them getting into the wedding and the first few phases of The Plan go smoothly, which ultimately lulls you into a false sense of security.

But while I should’ve known better, I wasn’t surprised when things started to go off the rails. I loved viewing the evening through our narrator, Olivia’s, eyes. Through the lens of a daughter pushed to the side by her father who only cared about things like wealth, status, and power. It amazed me, by the end, how many people were ultimately complicit in the heist, and I loved Olivia and the crew’s quick thinking to get them out of sticky situations.

In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this complex tale of familial expectations and dynamics, of found family and how they often mean more than blood bonds do, and the daughter who will stop at nothing to achieve retribution.

HIGHLY recommend!

I'm a firm believer in silly, fun books. They have a lot of charm and are easily digestible between serious, lengthy novels. Heiress Takes All fits perfectly in that category.

Olivia's father is the textbook definition of a deadbeat dad. Fortunately, he's a rich deadbeat dad. Olivia is hellbent on revenge after he screwed her and her mom over. The perfect opportunity drops into her lap: her dad's marriage to his mistress. She assembles a crew to steal millions of dollars from her dad. But, nothing goes to plan, especially as her ex-boyfriend keeps getting in the way.

Again, this book is just so much fun. It starts fast and resumes that breakneck speed. Olivia is a high-strung untrusting MC. She's quick on her feet and changes her plans as more and more things go wrong. Her crew was easy to distinguish

I had to suspend my disbelief from the beginning. Immediately, there were plot holes and questions swept to the side for the book to work. I had to ignore these things for the book's ending to work. I didn't mind, since the authors weren't going for a complicated, serious heist.

There were too many twists for my taste. While they kept the book entertaining, it was too much. The twists formed several subplots and mysteries that were hard to track as the authors built the story. Two subplots kept my attention, but I'm guilty of tuning out the rest.

I didn't expect the emotional turmoil Olivia would go through. Between crazy plot twists, Olivia grapples with her complicated feelings about her dad. She struggles with anger at how he's treated her, and the shame of still wanting him to be proud. The trauma and mistrust he's caused carry over to all of her relationships, especially with her ex. Usually, I don't like romantic subplots, but here it worked. It was integral to Olivia's character arc and coming to terms with her trauma.

If you want something light-hearted, and crazy with a feel-good ending, this is a great one to pick up! Just be ready to ignore some obvious plot holes from the get-go.

I liked the romance and the friendships, but the overall plot wasn’t my favorite, and I found myself wanting the main girl to go to jail for majority of the book. Which, I get that’s it’s for character growth and you’re probably supposed to dislike her for most of it, but as a very character driven reader, it made it a lot less enjoyable for me.
Realistically I’d put my rating at 2.5 stars, but I just rounded it up because I did like the friendship aspect of the book a lot!

Seventeen-year-old Olivia Owens isn't thrilled that her dad's getting remarried...again. She's especially not thrilled that he cheated on her mom, kicked them out of their Rhode Island home, and cut Olivia out of her rightful inheritance.

But this former heiress has a plan for revenge. While hundreds of guests gather on the grounds of the gorgeous estate where she grew up, everyone will be thinking romance—not robbery. She’ll play the part of dutiful daughter, but in reality she’ll be redistributing millions from her father’s online accounts. She only needs the handwritten pass code he keeps in the estate's safe.

With the help of an eclectic crew of high school students and one former teacher, Olivia has plotted her mid-nuptial heist down to the second. But she didn't plan for an obnoxiously nosy wedding guest, an interfering ex-boyfriend intent on winning her back, greedy European cousins with their own agenda, or a vengeful second wife. When everything seems like it's going wrong, Olivia has to keep her eyes on what really matters: getting rich. And when she’s done, “something borrowed” will be the understatement of the year.

This was a very unique premise that immediately caught my attention. A 17 year old organizing a heist? Count me in! I could also completely understand her reasonings behind it because I too would do whatever I needed to help my mom. I enjoyed the overall plot of the story, but there were some instances where it dragged a bit with the storylines weaved in. I wanted more of the right now action, and toward the end we see a lot of it. Overall, I would recommend this for teens in high school or early 20s!

I've said it before and I will say it a hundred more times- I love a heist plot. This was no exception. It was a bit slow to roll but the introspection paid off in the end. Well end of book one probably 😀.

Ahh I loved this!! I loved reading the inheritance games and given how I felt this had similar vibes, I fell in love with it! The mystery aspect was super thrilling and I was always on the edge of my seat reading. I hope to read more from this author in the future!

I loved the quick pace of this heist novel. There were interesting characters, twists, and high stakes. It was such a quick and engaging read, and while I would have loved to have seen more character development, the plot carried the book so well that I barely realized it was missing.

Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick and fun read.

Heist books are almost always fun because of the fast pacing. I found the pacing to be pretty good with this one, but maybe not as much as other books I've read. What I really enjoyed were the characters. It was harder to like Olivia, but I did understand why she was so messed up. But it was her crew that stood out to me. Her dad was horrible. I felt like I could see the wedding because of all the details. The book ended in a way that suggests there could be more and I would definitely read them.

I gave this book 4 stars. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my arc.

YA novels can require, and get away with, a bit more suspension of disbelief than other books. I go into them understanding that, and in general, I do tend to enjoy YA the most. But, with this book, EVERYTHING was unbelievable. One example, which bothered me the most, was when Olivia mentioned one of her crew members gave her more details on a phone call they had DURING the heist that we as readers somehow weren't privvy to when the whole story is from Olivia's perspective. HOW did we miss part of this conversation when Olivia is narrating everything in real time? I was also annoyed that the code names were useless.

I did enjoy around the 85-95% section of the book and thought I might bump this up to a shwitty rating based on that section alone, but then the book just.....kept going, and as it kept going I found myself getting annoyed again.

🦇 The Roughest Draft Book Review 🦇

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

❓ #QOTD What's your favorite heist book or movie? ❓

🦇 "Something borrowed" is about to be the understatement of the year. After being cast out by her cheating father, Oliva Owens is ready for revenge. She'll play the part of dutiful daughter at his upcoming wedding, letting everyone see a spoiled heiress while she steals millions from his online accounts. All she needs is the passcode locked tight in his safe. With the help of an electric crew of high school students (and one former teacher), she's plotted the heist down to the second. Too bad her pleading ex, greedy Swiss cousins, father's vengeful second wife, and massive security team are in the way. Can Olivia steal her rightful inheritance right under her father's nose?

💜 I will probably read anything that comes from writing duo Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegmund-Broka, who know how to weave together a rich tapestry of plot, character development, and hard-hitting prose. A good heist story isn't easy to pull off--it's as difficult as the heist itself. Like a chess game against a worthy competitor, there are moving pieces, gambits, and traps around every corner. You need to think ahead. Wibberley and Siegmund-Broka do so with precision, giving Olivia and her crew plenty of obstacles to navigate as they try to pull off a heist in the middle of a messy, drama-filled wedding. More than the heist, I appreciate the emotional depth and development we see in Olivia throughout the story. Despite hating her father and wanting vengeance, she yearns for her father's approval. No kid can help that, even when wounds are still raw. Olivia struggles with an ex who cheated on her, the pain echoing after her father cheated on her mother. Olivia clings to her anger and thirst for revenge as a motivator throughout the book, but we do see her develop, grow, and forgive.

💙 Usually, I don't comment on covers, but I want to point on the detailing on this one. The crossed dagger cufflinks, Olivia's necklace, the chess pieces. The stark mess of red cutting against stunning, pure white, reflective of the messy con occurring during an otherwise perfectly planned wedding. Well done.

💙 The first 30% of the book was a little difficult to fall into, namely because it's more exposition than action. The entire story feels a bit more tell than show, despite the setting's opulence and potential for strong visuals. Usually, I annotate Wibberly and Siegemund-Broka's prose like crazy, but there were only a few delectable one-liners to choose from this time. I also found Olivia to be a bit...exhausting, especially since the story was in her first-person POV. She puts on the act of being a spoiled heiress, but her "true" persona isn't any more likable, even when we see dashes of empathy. I also guessed at Abigail's identity the moment she was mentioned--a great twist, but not well concealed.

When a teen daughter cast out by her rich father has her heart set on revenge, what better time to exact it than at her father’s third wedding?

That’s what happens in this book as Olivia leads a ragtag group of her peers (and one former teacher) in a revenge plot to steal millions from the man who cheated on her mom and discarded the two of them with nothing. Her carefully planned chess game ends up facing multiple unexpected moves and more betrayals than any teen can be prepared for. Oh, and there’s also the matter of her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart being in attendance to distract her.

There were so many hijinks in this book that it was comical. Every time it seemed Olivia and crew had something go right for them, another bump in the road was just around the corner. It was fun to see how she would find a way out of every new tight spot she and her team got backed into. There were a few twists I had figured out but still had well-executed reveals, and there were others that took me by surprise.

The pacing did get slowed down a bit by the sheer amount of internal monologue from Olivia. On the one hand, it helped get to know her and what her motivations were behind planning the heist against her father. On the other, there got to be so much that went on for pages that it took me out of the chaotic action, which was where all the fun was.

The way things end sets up for more potential scheming against Olivia’s corrupt family, so it will be interesting to see if there end up being more books to come with these characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Books for Young Readers for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Olivia Owens has planned the perfect heist. She and her crew will steal millions from her father as he celebrates his marriage to wife number 3. Will Olivia finally get revenge on the father who snubbed her, or will unexpected twists ruin everything?

When I saw this being compared to Inheritance Games and Ocean's Eleven, I immediately wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, this was just not that interesting. Despite being kicked out and facing money hardship, Olivia was still just a spoiled brat who acted like she was a hero for wanting to steal from her father. Yes, he sucked, but it didn't justify what she did. The authors tried to go for a found family dynamic with her accomplices, but I never really cared about any of them. I do think the twist at the end was kind of interesting, but itwastoolittletoolateat that point. Teens will probably love this one, but I'll probably forget about it in a few days.

Emily Wibberley's "Heiress Takes All" is a gripping exploration of the world of teenage rebellion and retaliation, enveloped in the richness and elegance of upper society. Wibberley creates a figure that is both deeply broken and incredibly driven.

The book does a fantastic job of depicting numerous dynamics and relationships. The encounters Olivia has with her diverse group of high school friends and her former teacher give the story richness and humor. Olivia's already unstable predicament is made more difficult by the quirkiness and personal motives that each character brings to the table.

"Heiress Takes All" stands out for having the ideal ratio of humor to suspense. I'm constantly wondering if Olivia's plan will work out or fall apart due to unanticipated difficulties because of Wibberley's astute dialogue and deft story turns.

The book delivers insightful passages on issues of wealth, family, and identity, in addition to its undeniable entertainment value. I pondered Olivia's voyage and the true worth of material belongings, as well as how far I would go to exact revenge.

To sum up, "Heiress Takes All" is a fun trip through the world of high-stakes heists and juvenile schemers. After reading every page, I was left wanting more from Emily Wibberley's incredibly entertaining novel because of its intriguing characters, exciting plot, and clever style. And I can't wait to read more from her. I know it's going to be worth it.

I really shouldn’t have worn heels to my very first heist.
3.75/5
I loved this plot. The way that we got to experience it through Olivia’s POV was a great choice. Usually when a book has a lot of characters in the main plot the author tensed to make it a dual POV which Wibberley didn’t do. I’m not saying it is a bad thing, because I feel there are already so many books that do that. I enjoyed the climax of the story though and the ending, through I feel like the beginning was somewhat slow. What I didn’t enjoy in the book was that the characters used code names. I made it harder for me to remember who was who.

This book was a cute little read. It did take me some time to read because of how many twists in the heist there was- because why would a heist go smoothly?
I didn’t expect the ending twist, but I wasn’t WOW-ed by it if that makes sense. I had fun reading it, but I am not sure I am invested enough for a possible sequel,
It read VERY YA, but for younger YA readers, they may like this.

Kevin is my fave character- he’s a whole mood.

Concept? Excellent. Execution? Ugh. I wanted to love this book. Marketed as “The Inheritance Games meets Ocean’s 11,” I was so so so excited to get this arc. The first chapter hooked me, and then… things kind of went downhill. I could not find any of the characters enjoyable until Kevin came along, and even then… he was really just comic relief. I can’t even pinpoint what it was that made this so unenjoyable to me. Unfortunately, the plot and twists were predictable. There was so much and so little happening all at once. The last 2-3 chapters were so good I felt like I was reading a different book. I’ll never tell anyone not to read a book, so even though it wasn’t for me, it might be for you! Even though I didn’t love it (or really even like it 😭), I’m glad I was able to get this arc from NetGalley and have the chance to review it.
