Another stellar addition to this series. Perfect twists and turns to keep you glued to the story. I thought the suspense was really good, without being over dramatic. The characters are amazing, and the ending was great. Can't wait for the next one.

This whole series is not to be missed! The protagonist is such a cleverly written character and she's not the stereotypical female protagonist. The book is well paced and my mind was blown more than once with twists I just sidnt see coming. I liked the writing style and found it easy to just lose myself in and the plot wasn't the usual predictable plot lines. Absolute must read

This is the 8th book in the Nikki Hunt series and they just keep getting better. Two girls are found dead and a 3rd girl is missing in a house that a family was murdered in years ago. The owner of the house is the only surviving member of the family that was murdered, and now he is becoming a suspect in the current murder. Nikki is out to prove who really did commit the murder as she faces some similarities from her own life.

Great characters and a great plot! I can't wait for more of this series!

Nikki Hunt book 8.

This is a great series and as usual I was hooked from the start. I read it in two sittings as I didn't want to put it down.

When Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a home on Bone Lake, she is devastated to find blood all over the floor and two young women who clearly fought for their lives. But the viciousness of the scene isn’t the only thing that strikes Nikki. The house was the scene of another murder twenty years ago. The killer was never caught. Is this a terrible coincidence, or have they struck again?

Nikki’s team quickly identify the girls from their belongings in the bedrooms upstairs. They had a party the night they were killed, and Nikki realizes that one attendee, their friend Alexia, is missing.

Nikki and the team have a race on their hands to find the person responsible before anything happens to her.

A great book that I'll recommend to all crime genre fans.

I am enjoying this series! I really like the main character - she has been through some things and she is a far from perfect person but she is a good mum and partner and an excellent police officer :)

Nikki is tasked with solving the murders of two young women in an infamous house - the setting of more murders, an entire family (minus one young boy), 20 years earlier. There are a lot of threads to pull in this book and I figured out who the murderer was pretty early on, which is unusual for me!

Enjoyable but I do wish there was more mention of Rory and Lacey in the book, it just softens the story a little bit and I like both of those characters a lot as well.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

4.5 stars

Bone Lake by Stacy Green is the eighth in the FBI Agent Nikki Hunt series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:    (Contains spoilers from previous books)
Nikki Hunt is an FBI Agent whose parents were murdered when she was young.  Their real killer is now behind bars, after she helped free Mark Todd (who she originally helped incarcerate). She now lives with his brother Rory, and family dynamics are settling down. She has a young daughter (Lacey), and her ex-husband (Tyler) was murdered by a serial killer (Frost) who is also now behind bars, and is apparently Nikki's half-brother.  Nikki heads the BAU unit based out of St. Paul Minnesota.  Her team consists of Crime Scene Analyst Courtney Hart and Agent Liam Wilson.  They work closely with Sheriff Kent Miller.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Nikki and the team are investigating the deaths of two young women found savagely beaten at an Airbnb on Bone Lake.  A young man was found injured in the basement.  The girl who had rented the house is missing.  Alexia had felt it was the perfect place to watch the crime documentary of the case that she plans on solving. That crime had occurred in this house 20 years ago.

There are a lot of people to interview, as Nikki soon discovers that Alexia had a lot of guests come and go throughout the day.  So, will one of these visitors prove to be a killer, or does this have something to do with the violent murders of the three people 20 years ago....and whose killer was never caught?

Sheriff Miller works on finding Alexia and her car, while Nikki has her staff interviewing the guests.  She and Liam start looking into the cold case, and discover that the house is still owned by the son of the family that were killed 20 years ago.  Matt has not had it easy, and misses his older sister to this day.

Nikki and Liam are at odds.  Liam is sure that the perpetrator is Matt, but although there is a lot of evidence against him, Nikki thinks it's all circumstantial.  Alexia had dug into Matt's past, and used him to find out more about the murders.  He felt betrayed and was angry.  Nikki feels a certain empathy towards Matt, as it brings back memories of her own family and their murders.

Meanwhile, they have a new boss to deal with.

My Opinions:
I am really enjoying this series.  The plot was very good, and although I had an idea as to the identity of the killer, I was not positive.

There were a lot of characters, and sometimes I had to stop and think whether this one belonged to the current case or the cold case.  Occasionally they were involved in both.  It wasn't confusing, but it did make me stop and think.

And yet the characters were interesting, although I can't say I particularly liked many of them.  I was not fond of Alexia or her family, and I couldn't quite figure out why her friends were so supportive.  I cheered for Matt, but that could be because of the empathy Nikki felt for him. His family were not high on my list of likable characters either.  However,  I continue to really like Nikki and her team. The jury is still out on her new boss.

Overall, this was a fast and entertaining read.  Please, read these books in order, as you'll want to get to know Nikki's past to understand her present thoughts.

This is book eight in the Nikki Hunt series and another crackin read to the fabulous series.

Nikki is a strong resilient character who despite her own traumatic past seeks to make the community a safer place.

Book eight sees her tasked with solving the murder of two girls whose bodies are found in a house were a family were murdered twenty years previously, are the two crimes connected? has the murderer returned? Or is there a copy cat killer on the loose?

A fast paced intense read that didn't disappoint.

This series has been a 5 star read from the very first book called The Girls in the Snow.......

Bone Lake by Stacy Green is the eighth book in the brilliant Nikki Hunt series and its been an absolutely gripping, heart-pounding and twisty mystery and suspense thriller, that will just grip you from the very first page till the very last.

This is a must series to read and they have just been an excellent read that will have you gripped and looking forward to Stacy's next book.

Bone Lake by Stacy Green is the 8th book in the series but the 1st book I have read by Stacy. It can definitely be read as a stand alone. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read the ARC. This had so many twists and turns and a book that you just can't put down.
When Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a home on Bone Lake, she is devastated to find blood all over the floor and two young women who clearly fought for their lives. But the viciousness of the scene isn’t the only thing that strikes Nikki. Nikki realizes that this was also the same place 3 murders happened 20 years earlier. Could this be a copy cat murder or is it possible the murderer, who never was caught, returned and killed again? Really enjoyed this book.

#8 in the series. I missed more of her daughter and partner in this one and tension between her and Liam was a bit annoying. Another mystery where the current day murder of three young woman may be linked to the murder of a family many years before. I did figure it out but it was an enjoyable police procedural read.
I was given a copy by NetGalley. Opinions are my own.

This was SO FUN!!! Book 8 in the Nikki hunt series and each book gets better and better! The twists were excellent!! My mind was BLOWN at one point in the story! However I wish we would have seen more of Rory and Lacey in this one. The story wrapped up nicely and I did not see it coming all together until the very very end! I LOVE this series and I am so excited for more.

I love the Nikki Hunt series! This book has a lot of characters to keep track of, but it’s constantly moving and keeping you wanting to read just one more chapter. Before you know if you’ve finished the whole book! The ending was very satisfying, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Another good instalment in this series, however quite a few characters introduced with connections sometimes confusing to work out!

Bone Lake is the 8th book in the Nikki Hunt series, but it is the first I have read. It can be read as a standalone, as the crime is committed and solved within it's pages, but I am now going to read from the beginning of this series as there is a lot of backstory that I want to learn. The book opens with a crime committed in 2002, the brutal killing of 3 family members. Fast forward to the present and there is another killing at the same house. Two highschool seniors have been beaten to death, another is missing and a young man has been injured after the dumb waiter he was in fell apart and he fell. Nikki Hunt is called in by the local sheriff. Is it the same killer? Is it a copycat?

The present day murders are wrapped up in the showing of a Netflix special trying to get the 2002 coldcase reopened. The missing girl, Alexia, was involved in the next episode with information that might blow the case wide open. Nikki, Liam and her team are in a race against the clock to find the missing girl. Solving the cold case would be a bonus. I enjoyed seeing how the investigation played out and how Nikki approached solving it. We see how the team is affected, especially when they disagree on where to go next, and possible suspects. There were things in Nikki's past that gave her a different insight and empathy, but was it misplaced? Nikki is a strong and vulnerable character, but she is tough, persistent and didn't give up or give in. Her partner, Liam, also has some stuff in his background that affects his behaviour and I know I will learn more when I read the previous books. The case was gripping, and although the murders were grisly, I didn't find the book as dark as some other crime thrillers I have read. I had a feeling about one of the characters from the first time he/she is introduced and I was right, not somethin that happens often. Overall, I found this an enjoyable, entertaining story that I read in a couple of sittings. If you enjoy a police procedural, one with strong characters and enough personal stories to make them interesting, then I recommend you pick up the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green.

One of the things I love most about this series is the struggles Nikki has overcome and the family she has built. I would never have guessed that a book that is very light on her personal life and family could be one of my favorites. But this one is unique and has her investigating an old case that his similarities to her past. Throw in a potential podcast and I was won over.

Nikki is a strong female character that doesn’t have a problem going a little rogue to find justice. Normally she ends up paying dearly for it, but she goes all out investigating a case and worries about the fallout after it happens. I like that book 8 found a clever way to make it personal for Nikki. I always think that adds a layer of complexity to a police procedural. And instead of putting someone close to Nikki in harm’s way, this one has her sympathizing with a suspect over a common past.

I appreciated the time sensitivity of their case and how the current case tied into the past case. This had the potential to go awry but the author does a good job of intertwining the cases and leaving no dangling strings. While I had no idea why, I thought there was only one potential bad guy, but that did not take away any enjoyment from the read. And I was so glad to read either in the acknowledgements or social media that book nine is a go. I really look forward to each new book in the series. I’ve been lucky enough to start this one from the beginning. And while it can be a stand alone, I think Nikki’s struggles and growth in each of the books is a reason I like the series so much and highly recommend you pick up the entire series.

This story was filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing; all I could do was turn the pages and see what would happen next. It is the eighth book in the series but my first, and I plan to correct that and read the other books. Many thanks to #Bookouture and #NetGalley for my gifted eARC.

Stacy green is one of my favourite authors and I devour both Nikki hunt and Lucy Kendall as soon as I grab them.
This was as good as every other - really sinister story around a murder and kidnapping from a home that was the scene of an unsolved murder 20 years previously.
Nikki and the team try and solve both cases - knowing they had to be connected somehow.
I wasn’t hugely shocked by the killer - but that didn’t spoil it at all. Absolutely fantastic with a kind of “scream” theme which was so cleverly written! Hurry back please Nikki!

When I first picked up Bone Lake by Stacy Green, I wasn’t aware that it was number eight in a series. I soon discovered that this absolutely doesn’t matter and can totally be read as a standalone novel. Nikki Hunt is an FBI agent and each book in the series covers different cases. Some references are made to what has happened previously, but nothing that means you need to read the others first.

I really enjoyed Bone Lake. It was incredibly fast-paced, and I could hardly keep up with what was happening, let alone who I thought the murderer might be! The author cleverly keeps you guessing, right up until the very end, and there were a few times I thought I’d worked it out, only to have something or someone else thrown into the mix!

If you enjoy a good thriller which will keep you on your toes, then I would definitely recommend Bone Lake. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I’d love to read more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review Bone Lake by Stacy Green.
