A beautifully presented book consisting of everything you need to learn embroidery, set out as 30 projects, over 30 days, covering 30 stitches. Ideal for someone who has never embroidered before, each little project introduces a new stitch for you to learn. At the end of the 30 projects there are 2 bigger "bonus" projects that put together what you have learnt over the 30 projects.
This book as a modern feel and everything is clearly explained. All the templates are included at the back of the book and instructions on how to use them.

I love all types of sewing, but hand embroidery really is fantastic for wellbeing and inspiring creativity. This book is full of beautiful embroidery ideas, for making everything from toadstools, to rainbows. Each stitch you’ll need is introduced and taught with accompanying photographs, and the actual patterns are clear, simple, and easy to follow - perfect for a total beginner or experienced sewer alike. You can follow the patterns exactly, or use the skills to create your own patterns and ideas. I love that you can turn your makes into finished, wearable designs. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

30-Day Challenge: Embroidery

4.5 Stars

30-Day Challenge: Embroidery is a beginner-friendly, fun, and challenging book. I'm completely new to embroidery, and I was able to follow along. This last book helps the reader explore a variety of stitches and techniques by building on skills one day at a time. I learned a few things! I'm currently in visual therapy for a concussion. So, I moved through this book at a slower pace. I'd highly recommend this book if you want to learn embroidery.

Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing, for providing me with an advance review copy for free in exchange for an honest review.

This book is really beautiful- I’ve done quite a lot of embroidery before, but I still learned quite a few things from it!

I think it would suit a beginner, but also someone who wants to get back into it (me!) or someone who just wants some inspiration.

Thank you NetGalley for a review copy of this title.
The projects are very good for beginners and the images chosen are very bright and colourful. A little simple if you are already embroidering but a good starter project book.

Rating: 4 stars

If you've always wanted to learn embroidery but didn't know where to start, then The 30-Day Embroidery Challenge by Jessica Anderson is the perfect book to kickstart your creativity and get those needles stitching! Anderson, the talented creator behind Cutesy Crafts, has put together a comprehensive guide that will teach you everything you need to know about embroidery, even if you've never picked up a needle before.

The book starts with an introduction to the basics of embroidery, making it super easy for beginners to dive right in. Anderson takes you on a journey of 30 days, where each day you'll learn a new stitch and create a beautiful project featuring that stitch. From flowers and birds to houseplants and rainbows, the projects are filled with popular modern motifs that will make your creations pop.

What's great about this book is that the projects are designed to be completed in just an hour or two, so even if you have a busy schedule, you can still carve out some time for embroidery. And as you progress through the book, you'll gradually build your skills by combining multiple stitches in more complex designs. Before you know it, you'll be creating stunning embroidered pieces that showcase your newfound talent.

One thing I loved about The 30-Day Embroidery Challenge is its flexibility. While the book suggests doing one project per day in order, you can totally go at your own pace. Pick and choose the projects that catch your eye or fit your schedule. The choice is yours!

The layout of the book is fantastic. The illustrations are beautifully done, making it a breeze to follow along with the instructions. Anderson's clear and concise explanations ensure that even someone who has never threaded a needle can easily pick up the art of embroidery.

The 30-Day Embroidery Challenge is an appealing and well laid-out embroidery tutorial manual by Jessica Anderson. Due out 30th Jan 2024 from Quarto on their Quarry imprint, it's 128 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats. This is a sister volume in the 30 Day Challenge series from the same publisher with other habit tracking and creativity prompts.

This guide presupposes no prior knowledge of embroidery on the part of readers. She has included a short pictorial intro for tools and materials as well as how to get started with the challenge. There are many (many!) online resources and youtube as well for readers who are starting without any support network, which can help a lot. She covers very basic supplies as well as transferring designs and tension hoops, etc.

The following chapters include 30 project tutorials including a new stitch-per-day. All the projects are small and very colorful. The author has included 2 bonus projects at the end which combine some of the earlier techniques and stitches and are slightly more complex and will take longer than a day to complete. There is no index included, but the table of contents includes a thumbnail gallery of color photos of the projects with page numbers. Full size templates are included in the book, along with a QR code to download the templates and additional materials electronically.

It should be noted that this book is about surface embroidery, not cross stitch. It's lovely to see tutorials and and upswing in interest for the other fibrearts; it seems like only cross-stitch had any following for a long long time and it's nice to see surface embroidery enjoying a renaissance.

Wonderful skill building tutorials. Four and a half stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

30 Day Challenge: Embroidery: A Day-by-Day Guide to Learn New Stitches and Create Beautiful Designs by Jessica Anderson is currently scheduled for release on January 30 2024. If you’ve always wanted to learn embroidery but haven’t known where to start, 30-Day Challenge: Embroidery is the perfect way to jump-start your creativity and get stitching. Even if you’ve never picked up a needle, you will quickly learn everything you need to know to master embroidery. After an overview of embroidery basics, author Jessica Anderson (Cutesy Crafts) shows you how to create—each day for 30 days—one new stitch and one embroidery design that features that stitch. The easy-to-follow projects include a variety of popular modern motifs such as flowers, birds, houseplants, rainbows, and more, and only take an hour or two, or less, to complete. As the book progresses, you will strengthen your skills with designs that combine multiple stitches. You can do one project per day in order or follow your own schedule and pick and choose. By the time you’ve stitched your way through the book, you will have an amazing collection of embroidery designs to hang up and display your skill and creativity.

30-Day Challenge: Embroidery is exactly what the title and description promise. A collection of information and projects in bite size pieces to help readers learn to embroider, learn some new stitches, or just keep using to skills you have to keep them fresh. I like that the designs are all relatively simple, and there is still room to change colors or small details as you go to make them fit in better with what you have on hand, or your personal tastes. The designs build on the taught skills as you go through the book, reinforcing what has already been covered and keeping things moving at the same time. I like that there is built in flexibility with the book. You could tackle a project a day in order, or you can change the frequency or skip around in the project order. I liked that the book included traceable templates for the projects as well as some extra designs to try that are a bit harder and more complicated than those included as lessons. I think this book would be good for those new to embroidery, those that have not picked up a needle in awhile, and those that just want to keep their skills fresh.

The 30-day Challenge book by Jessica Anderson is a day-to-day guide to learning new stitches and creating beautiful designs, teaching you dozens of stitches and giving you the instructions to create some amazing projects.

Perfect for Beginners
“The 30-Day Challenge: Embroidery” book organizes its projects by your level of progression. Anderson helps you create and learn stitches as you complete the project by following a reassuring step-by-step process.

Bold Butterfly embroidery project from the 30-Day Challenge: Embroidery Book from Jessica Anderson

Even before starting the embroidery projects, the author provides a list of the supplies you will need and a supportive message to help you embark on this creative learning experience. Don’t worry the book also explains how to transfer the templates. 30-Day Challenge: Embroidery is a well-rounded course for beginners.

Knowing your level of mastery, you can jump around and do the embroidery projects in the order you want. On the other hand, the way I felt more comfortable using this book is taking it from the beginning. Now having ZERO level of experience when it comes to embroidery, I was curious to try, since you never know what you can be good at unless you try it all.

The easy-to-follow embroidery projects include a variety of cute modern motifs. There are flowers, birds, rainbows, and more. In addition, the 30-Day Challenge: Embroidery book includes 2 bonus challenges (more advanced). From start to finish, you will have all of the steps to complete all types of projects, and encourage you to venture out into moving your projects from your hoops to your clothes or tote

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's always great to see an embroidery book with such detail patterns and this was no exception. What a great start to learn how to embroider and some patterns to help along the way. If you want a book to help you learn then I recommend this one.

What a fabulous idea this book is. With just a collection of colored floss, a needle , a transfer pen, fabric and some embroidery hoops, this challenge teachers the various stitches to create 30, plus 2 set of hoops.
Each day there is a new cute design and a new embroidery stitch to learn., which are easily accomplished. Finally there are two more projects which take a little longer to complete as a bonus.. all designs are provided to trace from.
This is a lovely idea, rather than doing row on rows of the same stitch for practice, this one actually is fun to do. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DR
