“ Her Last Cry" by Pamela Fagan Hutchins is a riveting addition to the Detective Delaney Pace series. As a reader who eagerly devoured the first two books in quick succession, the third installment continues to deliver on the high standards set by the author.

The story begins with the mysterious disappearance of Annabeth Dillon, a much-loved figure in Kearney, Wyoming. Detective Delaney Pace is called in to investigate, and the plot quickly thickens as Annabeth's lifeless body is discovered in a remote woodland cabin. The tension escalates with the revelation of dark ties and a mysterious figure at the scene, setting the stage for a gripping and suspenseful narrative.

Hutchins skillfully weaves a tale of murder, secrets, and a twisted killer on the loose. The intricate plot unfolds with unexpected twists, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The author's ability to create a sense of urgency and maintain a brisk pace adds to the overall intensity of the story.

The character development of Detective Delaney Pace continues to impress, and her determination to unravel the truth, even when faced with personal danger, adds depth to the narrative. The exploration of the victims' lives and the potential connection between the murders enhances the complexity of the plot.

As the story progresses, the revelation of DNA evidence belonging to someone Delaney knows raises the stakes, creating a gripping sense of suspense. The author adeptly balances the mystery with a sense of emotional resonance, making "Her Last Cry" a thoroughly satisfying read.

In this third installment, Pamela Fagan Hutchins reaffirms her skill in crafting compelling mysteries that captivate readers. "Her Last Cry" earns a well-deserved five stars, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Detective Delaney Pace's journey. Hutchins continues to excel in delivering suspenseful narratives with a perfect blend of mystery and emotion. I love the character development and am looking forward to a blossoming romance (I hope!)

After a quick celebration for her interim Sheriff's, Leo's, birthday, Delaney and Leo are called to a secluded cabin for a wellness check on Annabeth Dillon, a prominent area resident who may be running for Senate. Upon arrival, they find Ms. Dillon murdered and many items at the scene are not making sense. With another prominent citizen as her main backer, this leads to more questions for the team. Meanwhile, in her personal life, Delaney is filing to adopt her niece and her recently deceased friend's daughter... and someone is trying to sabotage her efforts. This is a great mystery series - however, the will they/wont' they relationship struggle between Delaney and Leo is a bit distracting from an excellent book. I hope in Book 4 this gets settled so the mystery storylines really stand out. Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is the 3rd book in the Detective Delaney Pace series, and it's still SO good! Yes, you have to read all the books in the series. There is a storyline connected to all the books, and it's the best part of this series, so make sure to read all 3 books!! Delaney and Leo are on the hunt to find out who murdered Annabelle and how is her death connected to Delaney's past. Excellent book and series!!

Wow, this was a very good book. The suspense and emotion was very high in this one.
It gets really personal for Delaney and the girls. Leo is trying to decide his future. Jefe is still on the loose or is he. Loved every minute of this one. I can’t wait for the next one to see what the future brings.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this one.

HOLY GUACAMOLE‼️

What a fantastic twisted whiplash of a ride. Every single book in this series got better and better. Wow. I can’t wait for book 4.

Delaney Pace is such a total bada$$. And Leo better get it together. 😉

I love how she is such a great mother when it was literally thrust upon her. I’m a huge fan of her surrounding people and I just know that more is coming…no body. Enough said.

This is a must read for crime thriller fans who love strong female leads! RUN.

I thought this 3rd book would have been the last of the serie, but it doesn't seem like it.. Beware, it ends on a cliffhanger. Otherwise, it was a nice serie, loved the characters, even if at times I was a bit confused.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Explosive from start to finish!

Book 3 in the Deputy Investigator Delaney Pace series & Hutchins weaves a brilliant story building on the last 2 books, and in anticipation of what is next for our main characters Delaney & Leo.

Full of action, mystery, you won’t want to put it down.

Have enjoyed the previous books in the Delaney Pace series and this one hit the mark. Plenty of suspense throughout and likeable characters. Look forward to the next one. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

I started this book within seconds of finishing book 2. I had to know if they caught Jefe. The murders were committed without revealing an abundance of clues, so this time I didn't try to presume who was responsible. Some emotional scenes, but plenty of action. Enough twists to keep you guessing. I now have to wait for book 4!!

Book 3 in the series with Delaney Pace and it's another entertaining and fast paced read. I am loving the Montana setting and the developing characterisation, especially Delaney. She is smart, determined and doesn't suffer fools gladly. There is plenty of suspense, tension and that wonderful ending leaving me eager to read book 4, if there is one! Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I've read books 1, 2 and 3 in this series, and even if it's possible to read them as stand-alones, it's definitely better to read them in sequence. As usual with this author, the books are well written and easy to read. The setting and the characters are fantastic, as always, but the most important is the numerous points of suspense through all of these three books. Add a little humor, and you have excellent entertainment.

I’m sad and disappointed, not in this book but because this is last one currently available and I NEED more Delaney Pace! This series has become a favourite and I can’t wait for the next one. Delaney and her crew feel like family at this point. This book was read at breakneck speed. I couldn’t put it down. I think this was the best one yet! Terror and twists and turn galore. A must read, stay up all night can’t put it down thrill ride.
I need more!!!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐½ (3.5 stars, rounded to 4)

Her Last Cry, the third installment in an ongoing series, proves to be a compelling mystery that skillfully weaves a complex web of subplots and characters. As a newcomer to the series, the initial disorientation caused was a little confusing, but I adapted quickly enough. In fact, after that first chapter, I quickly realized that I didn't need much prior knowledge at all, which I appreciated - it meant the book could stand strong in its own right without relying on a story already told.

From the outset, Her Last Cry immerses readers in a multifaceted narrative, introducing numerous subplots that intertwine with the central mystery. Delaney and Leo both I loved. While the abundance of storylines occasionally makes the narrative feel a bit overwhelming and confusing, the intricacy of the mystery itself adds a layer of intrigue that keeps the reader hooked.

The characters in the novel feel authentic, and the emphasis on relationships, especially those between Delaney, Kat, and Carrie, as well as among friends, adds a touching and relatable dimension to the story. The dynamics between characters are well-explored, and the complexities of trust are masterfully portrayed, keeping readers on their toes as alliances and motives remain elusive. The mystery of Annabeth's death was truly compelling, and especially after we meet her early on in the book, we're particularly shocked right at the end.

This constant uncertainty about whom to trust adds a fascinating layer to the narrative. The suspense and tension created by this ambiguity contribute significantly to the overall appeal of the book, making it a page-turner for those who relish the unpredictability of a good mystery.

While the multitude of subplots and characters may be challenging to navigate, the payoff in the form of a gripping mystery and well-drawn characters makes Her Last Cry a worthwhile read. I think I'll be picking up those other two books sometime in the near future.

This is third book of the Detective Delaney Pace Series. One again, we have so many intense moments with twist and turns at times it was hard to figure out who was connected to who. In this book we do finally get some answers, but not to every question. Is it really over for this small town in Wyoming. Will sparks finally starting to fly between her and Leo, the now acting Sheriff? If you like intense thrillers, with a touch of romance, this is for you.
I’ve enjoyed the series so far. But just as a heads up, be prepared as this book also needs on a cliffhanger!

Just love this series! Can’t wait for what comes next.

I love how Delaney is a badass who takes no crap from anyone.
I’m very big on strong female characters and the male characters who understand how to handle them.

This series is a must ready.
