Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this early release!
This story had me hooked from the beginning, I just kept turning pages to see what would happen next. Seth and Taylor are expecting twin boys and have just bought the house of Taylor's dreams to raise their little family in. After an unfortunate family event immediately following the home purchase, Taylor realizes they can not afford the mortgage, so she hatches a plan and takes in some boarders. That is when things get weird. For a bit through the middle of the story I was very confused as to where it could be going, I felt like there were a lot of players in the game. I can't elaborate too much on my thinking process there without spoilers. It was a page-turner for me in the beginning, but as we neared the end the pace really picked up and I found myself laying awake until I could finish! My first read by this author, but I can say that I would recommend her, and I would definitely pick up another of her books. Thanks again to NetGalley and Bookouture!

Taylor is expecting twins with her husband who is a new resident. Over lunch she tells him that she went behind his back and with her father's help bought a big house that they can't remotely afford without her father's money. Her husband tells her that he turned down the residency in Tampa, where the house is, in favor of Orlando. Then Taylor's father tells her he can no longer help with the payment so Taylor decides that rather than sell the house and get something affordable in Orlando, where her husband will be for FOUR years, she will rent out rooms in the house in order to make the payment. She ends up with a single tenant and a newlywed couple and weird things start happening as soon as they move in.

I hated Taylor probably more than any character in recent memory. The spoiled brat nonsense of buying this widely expensive house without telling her husband and refusing to move on from it when her father reneged was ridiculous. Deciding to raise the twins 2 hours from where her husband will be was ridiculous. Barely getting by once you get the rent payments from the tenants before you have added two babies to the mix, and still insisting on staying in the house was ridiculous. I could barely get over how much I hated her to actually read the story. Of course she had to make all of these stupid decisions for there to be a story, and ultimately she pulled her head out of her ass to some extent, but it was too late for me. This book was pretty boring for the first at least 50%, setting the stage for all of Taylor's stupidity and then getting to know the tenants, and then weird but not terribly interesting things happening. Then out of nowhere a twist gets thrown in and the action picks up, but I am not sure if I liked the direction it took. I like this author and I have mostly liked her books. This wasn't terrible, but definitely not her best. Regardless, I will read her next and hope I enjoy it more.

I had to do a quick 180 in my assessment of Taylor. In the first chapter I dismissed her as the typical rich girl who got it all handed to her. But the last 1/4 of the book displayed her savviness and determination.
This book knocked me sideways because I didn’t expect the drastic turn it took about midway.
Kernan conjured up some wacko characters for sure.
My creep detector was on high alert.
The last part was pure adrenaline and I read feverishly to find out what would happen.
It’s a great thriller!

Thank you to Bookouture, NetGalley and Jenna Kernan for this ARC to read and review!

This book is ONE WILD RIDE! A slow burn psychological thriller full of suspense, twists, mystery, secrets and oh ya, some big ol’ whopping lies! Throughout the entire thing, I was yelling at the characters for their choices, wondering who the bad guy was, wracking my brain to decide whose story to believe and trying my darndest to figure out who I could trust ... all while sitting on the edge of my seat, racing to find out the truth! I was not expecting the turn it took in the middle … nope, didn’t see that coming! Wow.

This is a great follow up to the first book in this series, The Nurse, where you learn more about the main character’s wacko parents … but you could totally read these out of order without getting lost!

This book started off slowly but once it got going it developed into a real good story. Well worth a read.

This does start off quite slow and has you wondering if there's any point to all this and then all of a sudden ... it all kicks off and omg what a ride! I actually liked that you get lulled into this sense of routine and normality before absolutely goes insane and you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see what twists and turns will happen next. Absolutely amazing

In The Patient’s Daughter we meet Taylor pregnant with twins and Seth her husband is training to be a doctor, she announces that she has bought a house without him knowing. She is then cut off by her parents and can no longer afford the mortgage payments, and decides to advertise for roommates to share the house with her. Three new housemates arrive, Jules and Becca a young married couple and Zoe a single woman.
Things that are happening have Taylor questioning whether these people are actually who they claim to be. Are her unborn babies in danger?

The first half of the book was slow-paced, building things up slowly, and getting to know the characters, but then it switched into an intense whirlwind of a thriller. As the twists kept coming, I was on the edge of my seat. My emotions couldn’t keep up!

This is the first book I have read by Jenna Kernan; I will read more now she is on my radar. It was a brilliant read.

You need to put this one on your TBR pile. I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It’s a fast pace read that really keeps the intrigue and suspense but in a way that isn’t frustrating to the reader. You really don’t know what’s happening or where it’s going and then 💥BOOM💥 it all takes off and all you can do is hang in there as the twists keep coming. I liked the main characters Seth and Taylor but my god Taylor’s mothers really was a horrible person. The characters are well developed and I felt I really got to know them. This is a cleverly written, fast paced read that has something a little different and it’s a really engaging read.

The Patient's Daughter was an interesting read. It started off as a slow burner but once it got going it had me on the edge of my seat with all its twists and turns and its secrets and lies.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I did not finish the first book in this series because I just felt it was so long in descriptions and very repetitive. However, I decided to give this one a try because the storyline sounded interesting. I have mixed feelings about this one. Taylor purchases a million dollar home for her and her husband, Seth, with the promise from her father that he will take care of the mortgage payments. After changing his mind, Taylor decides to take in boarders to help cover the cost of the monthly mortgage payments.

Some of the book fell flat for me especially with her husband gone working his residency at the hospital and she was constantly hearing noises in the night. The story definitely could have been shorter. It was just an okay read for me. Parts were a little far fetched.

This book started off a bit slow, but by the end, it had me at the edge of my seat. I could not put it down.
It was interesting to see things from Taylor's point of view and where her life had led her.
It was also interesting to read a bit about her husband's cultish life.
I, again, could relate to Taylor as she was an expecting mother. She eventually had her babies, and I could relate to her primal instinct to protect her babies. I felt so much anxiety reading about her and her babies kidnapping because I could almost feel what she was feeling.
I felt that the ending fell a bit flat for me. After the buildup and the crazy twists and turns, the ending was just a bit boring. Just like the Nurse, I wanted some more answers.
I can't wait to see what else this author has in store!

I hadn’t read any other books in this series but this was so well written it didn’t matter. A well written rollercoaster of a read. It grabs you from the fired page. I love novels that get straight into it, and this one did it beautifully!

Did not expect the twists and turns that this book has. Absolutely thrilling from start to finish. Loved it. Highly recommended.

After a slow start, this book had me hooked and then the twists kept on coming. Although I hadn't read the first book in this series, and I did wonder at the title so obviously there was a link that I missed, it could still read as stand alone, but I will definitely look out for the continuing Roth family drama.
Thanks to Netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.

I’ve been following the bizarre Roth family so I knew going into this one that their daughter’s life would, at some point, brush up against the craziness and provide some gobsmacking gasps. Lies featured heavily in book one, and I expected the same for book two. Kernan delivered. Sabrina Roth, Dr. Henry Roth’s wife, was the patient in The Nurse. Their heavily pregnant daughter, Taylor, is the main character in book two, hence the title.

Without giving too much away, know that the central theme is appearances can be deceiving.

The Parker’s problems may have escalated when they are forced into a situation where they are struggling to pay the mortgage on their new home. However, their problems began with Taylor and her upbringing by a manipulative mother and a milquetoast father whose lives were built on lies.

In a moment of genius (?), Taylor decides to rent out rooms in their new home to supplement their mortgage. Zoe Furr and Joules and Becca Currie move in … and life soon gets WEIRD.

I loved the cat-and-mouse shenanigans, not knowing what Sabrina was going to come up with next, and how far I’d have to stretch my level of plausibility/possibility to accept the directions the plot took. Yes, some of it may have been far-fetched and some of the characters should have been forced to wear their ‘big boy’ pants and ‘man up.’ BUT, it was entertaining.

With an ending like that, there’s going to be a third book. I’ll be there in line for it. Serve up the craziness, Jenna Kernan. I’m ready for it.

I was gifted this copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

The beginning of this book sucks you in, and it does so biiig time! That alone makes this book a noteworthy read. Then it slows down and by the end, all the excitement has died down to a somewhat flat and very weirdly neat finish. It being a beginner to a book series, I’m afraid I will not be looking forward to reading the next installments. The book really started with a BANG and then turned into a slow burn that didn’t lead to much of anything. I believe the premise was great, and the writing was ok, but somehow something got lost there along the way.

The vibe in this book is certainly mysterious…and highly strange. That prologue, though!! That’s how you draw in a reader, folks. I was hooked, wanting to know who was who in the very beginning. The pacing was good until about 60% or so, and then 💩 got *weird*, people. The big reveal happened earlier than I expected, and I was thinking it was obviously false, due to the sheer outlandishness thereof. But, no…it was actually true. Hijinks ensue for a little while, and then the ultimate wrap-up was so neat and tidy that I found it extremely unsatisfying. Come on! Also, little hints are dropped about a couple of other people being in the headlines (at the end), and it’s never explained or resolved, which was just irritating. I think I have to give this 3.5 stars, but I’ll round up for the prologue and the first half of the book, since I was entertained until the big twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow, I read this in almost one sitting! It was a twisted thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. Taylor is pregnant and expecting twins with her husband Seth. She’s always had a challenging relationship with her parents, Dr. Roth and Sabrina Roth. She appears to be a spoiled rich kid, but we soon learn there’s more to that story. After buying a house that’s way above her means and her parents cut off the purse strings the couple is forced to bring in renters to make ends meet. Becca, Jules and Zoe seem great, but soon Taylor starts seeing and hearing things. After dealing with her mother’s mental illness all of her life, she’s a little more suspicious. Alone with strangers while her husband is going through his residency. Great characters and a twisted storyline that kept me on the edge of my seat guessing what was going to happen next. I’m hoping for a sequel to the story or more information on what’s happening with Taylor’s parents.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and the author for this ARC.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Patient’s Daughter’ written by Jenna Kernan in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Taylor Roth Parker is due to have twins and finds a larger house that her father offers to pay the mortgage for although there’s nothing in writing. Then her father changes his mind leaving Taylor and her husband Seth with a house they can’t afford and no means of paying for it. They don’t want to lose the house so Taylor forms a plan to take in lodgers to help pay the mortgage.

I enjoyed the reading the first book in the Roth Family Lies series so fully expected to enjoy ‘The Patient’s Daughter’ but it was nothing like as good with the first half so slow I longed for something to happen. Then the plot becomes weird with a highly improbable twist and is so far-fetched it could almost have been a completely different book. I have no doubt it’ll appeal to a lot of readers but I’m afraid I’m not one of them and as I couldn’t empathise with any of the characters I rapidly lost interest. I apologise for giving negative comments but this is purely my own honest opinion.
