This book hooked me from the very beginning. The ending was a bit predictable, but in the end, it was overall good read.

The first half of the book was strong and exciting. The last half of the novel made me excited for it to be over with. It wasn’t bad enough to DNF but the plot felt incredibly underwhelming and underdeveloped. The twist at the end was obvious and it is a tired trope.

Another great book by Tarryn Fisher! This was one I did not want to put down. Iris saw her sister get kidnapped but unfortunately no one believed her, and the cops did nothing to help her or do much in a way of finding what happened. I think any twin, or sibling would want to find out who kidnapped their sibling and find justice. Iris goes to great lengths to find out what happened all those years ago as she is not able to move on until she finds what happened.

Tarryn creates a great story, the first part doesn't have much twist and turns but towards the end, things change and they change quickly. All of a sudden things are happening and you can feel the truth is about to be untold. Great book and not the ending I was expecting which is great as many times with psychological thrillers you already have an idea early on

GOOD HALF GONE
Tarryn Fisher

First, let me say, I was a big fan before I read GOOD HALF GONE. Second, I STILL AM.

GOOD HALF GONE stars Iris. Iris’s sister was kidnapped right in front of her eyes. Iris has had a lot of trouble getting over her sister's disappearance. She has built her life around the sequences of that horrible day her sister was kidnapped. And many years later it is still the most horrible thing that ever happened to her.

We meet up with Iris when she goes undercover at a local mental hospital to get information about her sister’s disappearance. We follow as secrets are uncovered and motives are revealed in Tarryn Fisher’s GOOD HALF GONE.

GOOD HALF GONE didn’t work for me. The characters' quirkiness was distracting and caused a tonal shift that I did not appreciate in a thriller. Each character seemed to be constructed by throwing a dart at a wall. All those elaborate details detracted from the story. It felt almost comedic.

Nothing in the synopsis led me to believe humor would be involved in a kidnapping scenario.

I am a big Tarryn Fisher fan and I have followed her career for years. I want her to win, it’s just not happening this time with this one. I’ll still be here requesting, reserving, buying, reading, and discussing her work.

Thanks to Libro.fm and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for the advanced copies!

I want to say more about this story, but it is difficult without spoilers! I liked Iris. I liked that it isn't entirely clear what happened, and I liked how it is revealed through the story. I did see the twist coming, but not until right before, so it makes me wonder if I was right on time. Pairing the book with the narration gave extra tension! This was definitely an atmospheric novel. I guessed the twist pretty early and was screaming at Iris most of the book, but that could be because I have read a lot of thrillers and can see twists coming usually. There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book, namely Iris, her dedication to her sister eventhough she was hit with road block after road block. The police were no help and it just made me feel so sad and frustrated for her and her family. There were a lot of story lines that I felt didn't pan out though, or have much to do with the story and that did bother me. I just wanted them to have a resolution.

I was excited to read this book after enjoying The Wives but this ended up falling flat for me. The beginning was strong, but the middle dragged and felt choppy at times. I found myself avoiding reading this one rather than it being something I looked forward to. Thank you to the publisher for this ARC.

This one started off slow, and I totally caught the twist early on. I liked it, but didn't love it. I'm giving it four stars!

I did not love this one. I liked Iris as a character, but the story did not grab me. I also felt like the twist was a little too far fetched. It was still decently written, and I will continue to check out Tarryn's books in the future.

This book is entertaining for what it is. Definitely not this author’s best.
I was ok with the back and forth for telling from past to present. I think it helped the reader understand the girls better.

There was some suspense and twists but that ending came out of no where. Not very believable for me. I thought the formatting of the story could have been better. Lots of slow parts and then quick.

Iris sees her twin sister, Piper, get abducted when they were teenagers. Everyone thinks, including the police, that Piper ran away. It’s years later and Iris is interning in a psychiatric hospital on an isolated island. Everyone thinks Iris is there to work, but the reason she took the internship is because she thinks the only person that really knows what happened to Piper is a patient at the hospital.

The plot was entertaining, and I loved the isolated psychiatric hospital setting. The story was told by Iris in the present and from the past when Piper was abducted. There was some suspense and twists but the pacing was choppy with slow and fast paced parts. I also thought the ending was a little too farfetched.

Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher is a slow burn thriller, where twin sister Iris searches for answers on what happened to her twin Piper after she was kidnapped more than 10 years ago. She interns at a psychiatric hospital where one of Piper's murderer is now imprisoned to meet him and seek revenge. However, the hospital and its patients is more than it seems.

I was a bit disappointed with this book... the first half of the book was slow paced. Fisher navigates between the past and present, giving insight into Iris's character and Piper's disappearance. The buildup was slow and led to an ending that was predictable and underwhelming. It certainly wasn't Fisher's best.

Thank you to Netgalley, author Tarryn Fisher, and publisher for providing me with an ARC, in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

Good read. A bit predictable. The first few chapters had me hooked. Then it seemed to drag but picked back up in the end.

Goodness this book was a binge-worthy read. This was my first read by this author and I didn't know what to expect. She's a brilliant thriller writer that keeps the readers at the edge of the seat. I was consumed from the moment I started. I twists came out of no where and kept me glued!

A girl named Iris whose twin sister Piper was abducted right in front of her. After going to the police, no one believed her about what happened. She decided to go at it alone and try to find the answers for herself. Iris even went so far as to get a job at a remote island hospital for the criminally insane. She will work as an intern at the Shoal Island Hospital for the Criminally Insane, where she believes she’ll find the answers to her sister’s disappearance all those years ago. Will she find out what she wants to know?

The author has written a suspenseful mystery written in cyclical perspectives I was surprise to find that there is something sinister in the mystery. The ending was not what I expected. It’s a novel that I found fascinating.

'Good Half Gone' by Tarryn Fisher is a fantastic psychological thriller that goes back and forth in time and has a fun twist.

The first third of the book I was hooked. I have read a lot of Tarryn Fisher, and have always liked the way the twists in the book are crazy and unique. This book however, did not hit the mark. After the first third, it fell flat for me. Fortunately, it started to pick back up around 3/4 of the way in and I was hooked until the end. The twist ending was guessable, but was well worth waiting for.
This book has both past and present timelines, giving good backstory to the “present” chapters. . One thing I really love about the writing is that it flows seamlessly between past and present timelines, leaving you wanting more each time the chapter ends on a cliffhanger. Overall, I give this book 3/5 stars.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Tarryn Fisher for the ARC!!

When I first picked up Good Half Gone to read it I got to 25 percent. Then life happened and I wasn’t able to read for a while. When I picked it back up I read the remaining 75 percent in one sitting. This psychological thriller is intriguing and I kept reading to see what would happen. Good Half Gone is well written and keeps the reader turning page after page. The pace is great and the story is unique. I really liked Iris and felt for her. Her quest to find out what happened to her sister was realistic and I would have felt the same as her if this happened to me.

The one thing I have mixed feelings about is the ending where the story takes a twist. I did enjoy it. But I’m not sure if I loved it.

Overall Good Half Gone is a great read and I’m glad I was able to finish it. Go one click!

Overall, I enjoyed this read. It started out pretty slow, but I’m glad I stuck with it. This definitely gave me Shutter Island vibes!

I had really high hopes for this book but overall it fell short for me. It was a slow burn and I just wanted to get to the ending honestly. I didn't expect the turn it took near the end but overall it just wasn't great. I will read more from this author in the future but Good Half Gone was a miss for me.

Tarryn Fisher is a master of thrillers. With her relatable tone she sets a stage that pulls in a reader from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Good Half Gone was no exception. This book was unique while still holding all of the elements I enjoy is a good psychological thriller.

Iris’ twin Piper was kidnapped years ago at a local movie theatre. Iris has made it her mission to reach the man that killed her by becoming an intern at a hospital for the criminally insane. She knows she is getting in deep, but that doesn’t stop her. I love Iris. She is real, brittle, and yet gritty at the same time. While the setting in this story is riveting, the character Iris also makes this read super enjoyable. Aren’t all the good ones a little bit broken? This book was great! 5 stars!
