Her Silent Bones by Pamela Fagan Hutchins and narrated by Stephanie Cannon is the first book of a promising new Detective Delaney Pace series and what a brilliant audiobook this was. It was a gripping crime thriller with lots of twists and turns throughout with a heart-stopping twist that will just take your breath away! WoW....Didn't see that coming!

The narrator Stephanie Cannon did an excellent job of telling this story.

I highly recommend this audio/book I loved it!

Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Her Silent Bones.

I think I would have done better reading this one than listening to audio. There were quite a few characters to keep track of.

It was a good storyline and I didn’t see the ending coming. I kept waiting for something like that to happen, but was shocked at how it played out.

I know this is the first in a series, but I didn’t like how many loose ends were left open. I recommend not starting this one until you know you have access to book two as well so that you can get the answers you are going to want to have.

Her Silent Bones (Detective Delaney Pace Book 1) by Pamela Fagan Hutchins

Thank You, NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This audiobook was an interesting listen with it being a thriller. A small town where everyone knows everyone, there is history and dirty secrets. Hence, so much potential for suspects and motives. The author did a good job of bringing all the elements together.

I enjoyed listening to it.

So, definitely go for it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen to this audiobook. I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I got so into this book that I finished listening to it in 24 hours. Usually I take a few days, just listening in my car, but I wanted to know what was going to happen so I listened every chance I got. I wasn't crazy about the narration at first, I don't really know why, but I changed my mind before I got halfway. This is a fast paced twisted crime thriller. It kept me guessing the whole time, so many twists. There is some gory parts so be aware of that. There were a lot of characters that made it a little difficult to keep straight. The main story was solved, but it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger which normally I don't like, but I was already thinking about getting the next book before I was even finished with this one.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

This was a solid 4.5 stars for me and since GR doesn't have that rating I opted to round up with 5 stars. This was a fast-paced book with genuinely likable characters. There are enough twists to keep you hanging on for more. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing how interpersonal relationships play out.

First I would like to thank Bookouture Audio for providing a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Delaney who is pulled back to her hometown to take care of her niece after her brother and sister in law died in a car crash. To make some money she decides to take her old job at the sheriff's office and is called in for a murder on her first day. When the murder victim turns out to be her sister in law, who was supposed to have died in a car crash, and her only new friend Mary is taken. She has to work with her new partner before Mary is the next victim.

What I Loved:
Delaney, she is a bad ass who has taken care of herself for most of her life and is willing to step up and take care of her niece
Multiple POV, this story has Delaney, her partner and the killers POVs and I just loved having all the different perspectives of the same events
Narrator, with the multiple POVs the narrator did a great job differentiating their narration between the different characters
Twist, the twist at the very end was NOT what I was expecting and it is absolutely a cliffhanger and I will be reading the next book to see what happens
Niece, Delaney's niece Kateena is a spitfire who is a typical young person but also is able to step up in difficult circumstances

Overall this was a good thriller with a great twist, good characters, and a cute town to base the series on. I will be continuing to read this series as I cannot wait to see what happens with the "big bad".

I couldn't finish this book. I was so excited about it which made it hard for me. Perhaps, this book wasn't right for me at the time I tried to read it. Sometimes books are that way! I'm going to try again, sometime soon.

Her Silent Bones (Detective Delaney Pace Book 1)
by Pamela Fagan Hutchins
Narrated by Stephanie Cannon

Rating: 4.4/5.0 Stars

Her Silent Bones is the first book in the Detective Delaney Pace book series by Pamela Fagan Hutchins. This was my first book by Ms. Hutchins, and I can absolutely say that it won't be my last. Ms. Hutchins crafted a well-thought-out story and created characters that you feel something for, which isn't always the case with other authors. Ms. Cannon's narration was well done and definitely added to the story. I had no problem knowing who was talking throughout the audiobook and her character voices were all believable.

Now for the story...Delaney is brought back to town to take care of her niece after her brother and sister-in-law were killed in a terrible car accident. That meant giving up her long-haul trucking career and stepping in once again as a local sheriff's deputy in the town where she grew up, and take over the top level management of her brother's bar.

Things quickly go from bad to worse when her sister-in-laws body is is found. So apparently she didn't die in the car accident. If she didn't die there, who was in the car crash?? I don't want to give away anything else, but someone is after the people that Delaney cares about and she's on a deadline to figure out who it is.

I enjoyed the twists and turns and thought that the characters were developed well. I know that I'll be reading or listening to Book 2 when it comes out! Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and the author for this ARC!

Mystery

In this new series Delaney Pace finds herself back in her hometown, again facing her demons. She has been called back to start a new job on the police force, and assume custody of her orphaned niece, Kateena, and dealing with a preteen is no easy task. When a killer turns up, she is thrown another curveball.

This book marks the first in a wonderful new series by Pamela Fagan Hutchins. Having the appropriate amount of mystery but with the soft undertones of a woman assuming a new role as caregiver to young girl. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

3.5 Stars !

Her Silent Bones is the first in the Delaney Pace series, a detective crime thriller that follows the detective as she comes home after ten years to take care of some family business.

I liked that a female main character was written to be intelligent, skilled, and independent.

The beginning of the story moved a bit slowly, but once you get going it moved quickly. The ending really kept my attention and finished with an interesting twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the arc !

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for asking me if I would listen to this audiobook.
This was a fast paced filled with mind-blowing twists. Full of Police procedures and the first book of a Delaney Pace Series.
Stephanie Gannon is one of my favourite narrators. She adapts her voice from male to female so well. Her attention to detail within the book is always exceptional!

Detective Delaney Pace saw her father getting murdered 15 yrs ago and in the present she has the huge responsibility of looking after her niece as her brother & sister-in-law are killed in a car crash.

As she is trying to settle in with the new responsibility she almost comes face to face with a killer - more shock awaits her when she sees who the killer's victim is, she cannot believe her eyes - it's her sister-in-law and she has been killed in the most possible merciless way!
If her sister-in-law died recently then who was the woman who died with her brother?

fast paced and I am looking forward to the next one in the series. thank you bookouture Audio, netgalley and the author for approving audio ARC in exchange for unbiased review.

I am totally here for this Delaney Pace series! Yikes ANOTHER series I love, where does it end?! I didn't see all of those twists and turns coming! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, I hope she tracks down her brother and throws the law at him! What a douchebag. This was my 1st book by Pamela Fagan Hutchins but I am now adding all of her books to my TBR!

A faced paced thriller with the most colourful main character - Detective Delaney Pace, a lady not to be taken lightly or to get on the bad side of her. The narrator, Stephanie Cannon did a brilliant voice portrayal of Delaney, sounding like Queen Latifah in her bad girl movies. If you don't like the narrator's voice then you get put off the book, but Pamela Fagan Hutchins chose the right person to narrate her book.
The story line was gripping and it got so exciting in parts you wanted the audio to match the pace of my heart so I could hurry to the next scene. Thank you Pamela Fagan Hutchins for a nail biting story and I'll definitely be looking out for book 2.

Her silent bones is a good murder mystery story. The narration done by Pamela is perfect . The narrator was engaging and kept me hooked to story. Although I thought the first half was slightly slow paced . Loved the hate and love connection between the partners. Looking forward for the series as there is a great potential for a plot development and characters to evolve. Also loved the main character Delaney (good , intelligent detective).

This is the first in the Delaney Pace series and where I did enjoy it I felt the beginning and end moved at a steady pace but the middle just dragged. The plot lacked that little bit extra in the sense of twists when it came to a page turner to keep you engaged but it was more going through the motions. I did like the characters but didn’t really feel we got to know them except Delaney herself who is a typical bad ass female character but as far as characters go they need further development. With it being the first in the series I feel it can only get better when the characters and backstories come into their own. I would definitely give book 2 a go…

Delaney Pace returns to Wyoming to resume her job as a cop and to take care of her niece after her brother and sister-in-law are murdered. Delaney, once a cop has spent the last 10 years as an over the road ice truck driver. As she steps back in to her role as a police officer she quickly encounters some rough characters, but she is tenacious. She will stop at nothing to get the answers she needs.
I look forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my ARC.

I really liked this story. It kind of reminds me of the Deadwood series by Ann Charles. The storyline isn’t even close, but it definitely had an underlying similarity to it that I really enjoyed. It was the tone of it more than anything else, the snarky humor. I love a good small town thriller, especially if it’s in Wyoming. Maybe because it’s so close to me, I don’t know. In any case, it was easy to picture everything as it went. Characterization was great too, although I will admit, the killer’s identity shocked me. Not for the reason you would think though. You’ll know it when that part comes! I’m definitely intrigued enough to read the next one. I was a little pissed at the ending, but not because it wasn’t tied up as much as it could be for this story. It just went in a direction I didn’t want it to go in. I’m just hoping that particular part redeems itself in future books!

Huge thanks to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
