This a really important and timely look at immigration law and how we can view any human as "illegal". The dehumanzing way that immigrants are treated at the American border do not make anyone safer and are a stain on American policy. I hope many people prioritize reading this book.

I really enjoyed this book on the topic of immigration. Not so much legal immigration, but illegal entry.
I thought that the Justin Bieber and the 21 Rampage comparison was top notch, really made you think about is it really about illegal overstayers or more about race.

I liked when he brought up about most people want to follow the law. As long as they are treated fairly.

The downside of this book was that it did not highlight what could be done in the United States. It did not highlight how legal immigration worked.

I felt that somethings, like who could enter before 1920's, the white people of Northern Europe was not compared to the immigrants of today.

OVerall a good book to read to get a better understanding of illegal entry in the united states.

Immigration law is one political topic I’m quite passionate about. I considered myself aligned with Democratic legislation around the topic until reading this book. I’ve learned a lot from this research and now realize that there does not exist a constitutional, moral plan on either side of US politics. This author does a fabulous job bringing the laws and policies under a microscope and revealing them as inhumane and discriminatory, whatever the motives may be. I was impressed with all the footnotes and references included and will likely reread this when it’s available as a Kindle book- so I can easily click through the footnotes as I read (the PDF copy I received had them at the end).
If you are interested in learning about this topic, or feel ignorant and want to know more about this, I recommend this one. It’s worth the time.
