I want to shout out about this book to the world. What a wonderful and important story. Violet is an introvert like me. In this story she keeps to herself and doesn’t speak out. However, just because Violet is quiet doesn't mean she has nothing to say. In fact she is very smart and is passionate about cooking. She soon learns to find her voice when her passion for cooking outweighs the quiet girl inside. I love this book so much. I love that it teaches those children, and adults, that being an introvert is not a bad thing. They too have so much talent and things to be excited about. They just have to find the right moment to be heard. The book includes a section to help parents with discussion and activities for their children. I know this book will be a treasure to many children and show them so much possibility. I wish all children who feel the introvert in the crowd still feels encouraged to be themselves. A brilliant and well written story. The illustrations are perfect for this book and really complement the story itself. Your family will love this book. We received this as an ebook ARC but I will be adding to our home library. It also makes the perfect gift for the quiet child in your world. I also think it would be perfect to explore in a classroom. Enjoy this amazing book.

Violet has a hard time finding her voice. She is quiet, but she wants to be heard when her class cooks because she is a very talented cook. I enjoyed seeing Violet’s growth and the idea that fixing a child’s quietness is not the goal. This is a great educational read!

In a world that is designed for extroverts, today’s book might be resonate with my fellow quiet, introverted readers!

In QUIET VIOLET FINDS HER VOICE (written by Gabrielle Nidus, illustrated by Stephanie Dehennin, published by Free Spirit Publishing), Violet Blandin has no problems blending in. In fact, she is so quiet and so good at blending in that people would often forget that she was even there! Now, while her voice may be super quiet, her cooking skills are anything but! In the kitchen, Violet does NOT blend in! And because of her love of cooking, Violet is delighted that her teacher assigns a cooking group project to practise measurement skills. However, when she tries to speak up as she notices all the measurement errors her group member are making, no one hears her, as usual. Then, the teacher announces that Violet’s favourite cooking show will be filming the next episode in their classroom the next day! But when during filming, her group members continue to talk over each other, and make disastrous errors that will guarantee a terrible outcome, Violet knows she can no longer stay quiet… but will she be able to finally muster the courage and confidence to be loud and heard? Will her group members finally listen to what she has to say?

This empowering book will resonate with those quiet, introverted readers who may find it a struggle to be heard in a world made for outspoken, extroverted people. The author does a wonderful job in portraying Violet as quiet but capable leader. The bright and lively illustrations capture Violet’s initial timidness, but also her joyful confidence when she is cooking. The back matter contains some ideas to support quiet children, as well as one discussion questions about this story. I think this book would match wonderfully with SO LOUD! by Sahar Golshan.

I immediately connected to Violet and her quietness. She has a passion for creating in the kitchen and easily is herself in the culinary environment, but in a group, Violet is reserved and quiet. I enjoyed how she quietly observed the other students' mistakes until it became a critical one for the flavor of her group's project and found her voice. I want the recipe for Violet's cookie--I enjoy baking and trying new recipes.

“Violet Blandin makes it a habit to blend in. At school, no one notices her, but in the kitchen, she cooks up confidence and can't be missed. When a hands-on lesson about measurement goes haywire, Violet finds she is the only one who can save celebrated Chef Delaclaire from an awful encounter with a very salty cookie.”

Quiet Violet Finds Her Voice by: Gabrielle Nidus
As a mom, of a quiet child, this book really spoke to me. I am anything but quiet so I have a hard time understanding some of my daughter’s reactions and interactions with others. Violet was a sweet girl who was not heard by her friends until she finds her voice. She helped me to see my daughter in a different way.
I enjoyed:
• The bright and visually pleasing illustrations.
• Violet as the main character
• The message that it conveyed to the reader.
• The information at the back of the book for care givers and kids alike.
This is a perfect book for a child that needs encouragement to speak up for themselves or a confidence boost. It is also great book for any K-3 classroom, school or public library.

Thank you to Net Galley, Teacher Created Materials, Free Spirit Publishing, and Gabrielle Nidus for the opportunity to preview this book. The book is set to release on March 19, 2024.

When Violet and her classmates are given a cooking assignment she should shine. Violet loves to cook at home.
At school her soft voice is drowned out by her classmates. Will Violet find her voice and prevent a cooking catastrophe?
This delightful story reveals that a quiet child has talents to share. The brightly colored illustrations throb with energy and spontaneity. The children's facial expressions give depth to the story by conveying their diverse emotions in the different situations. And the small, colorful creature throughout the book pairs perfectly with the story.
There are other children's books about a quiet child however this one has a playfulness that will engage young readers and listeners.

This is a book that needs to be out there to show kids that while they may want to blend in that sometimes if they stand out that could make all the difference. I was a quiet kid and seeing a book where a quiet little girl stands up and uses her voice to be able to help her friends means a lot to me.

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Such a cute and relatable story about a quiet little girl with some important things to share and a difference to make. I really like the chef's contest angle, and that Violet shows that you can be assertive in advocating for yourself while remaining true to who you are and without being unkind. The art is adorable. Violet is such a cute little thing. My one complaint is that I did not really care for the font or typesetting.

I don't read many children's books as I am a middle school librarian, but I loved the message behind this story. I will be passing it on to our younger kids! I loved the beautiful illustrations as well. This book was a delight!

Violet is shy and quiet and doesn't like to be the center of attention, but when she realizes her classmates are messing up the cookie recipe, she finds her confidence and her voice and learns that she can be quiet and stand out at the same time!

Power to the introverts!

I just reviewed Quiet Violet Finds Her Voice by Gabrielle Nidus and it is a lovely example of the daily experiences of a quiet or introverted person. Violet is quiet but not boring - she makes bold statements through cooking and baking! But at school, Violet finds it difficult to share her thoughts or make her opinions heard. When an important group project involves baking for the host of her favorite baking show, can she figure out how to speak up and prevent a disaster from happening?

Well thought-out and empathetic story about introverted children. This story would be wonderful to share with groups of children to both give support and encouragement to those who are like Violet and to broaden the understanding of more extroverted children about seeing the quiet child they know in a more full light. The illustrations are beautiful, mostly full page spreads which really add to the story arc and feelings of the characters. A page of discussion topics for parents and children also adds to the overall quality.

Recommend for libraries, classrooms and for your favorite introvert!

Meet Violet Blandin. Her voice may be a "two-inch whisper," but in the kitchen she shines.

Her noodles were naughty.
Her cakes were kooky.
Her bread, breathtaking.
Her hot dogs wore high heels, and
Her French fries danced in Russian dressing.

When her class does cooking in teams, it is hard for Violet to be heard over the louder voices on the team. Violet's passion for cooking saves the day when a teammate almost makes their cookies with salt instead of sugar. (Been there. Done that.) Just because a kid is quiet, it does not mean that they don't have something to say. Included at the end of the book are tips for helping kids with quiet voices. A big thank you to my Goodreads friend Debra for bringing this book to my attention!

I absolutely loved this book for children 4-8 with its bright colorful illustrations and its important message about how to support quiet children to find their own voices, and learn how to communicate with confidence. Now I want a dozen of Violet's Confident Cookies, made with chocolate, coconut, marshmallows, cinnamon, curry, and cardamom!

I LOVE this book!! Such a powerful and affirming story for those children are shy or quiet. It will also build empathy for their peers. I really enjoyed that the main character loves to cook, which we don’t see often in children’s books. Highly recommend!
