Loved this story. So glad I have rediscovered Danielle Steel. She is an amazing storyteller. I would love to see a sequel to this about what happens to the main character or even what happens to some of the people who were in her life.

Joy from Danielle Steel is an ode to women who lose so much but still never lose hope! Allegra had been through so much loss and turmoil but she never lost sight of hope and the meaning of love!

The life that Allegra loved is one that could bring even the strongest to their knees but she always found a way to push on. I admired her determination and her steadfastness! The true meaning of joy is finding happiness is the world around you and loving who you are.

I truly loved how the story ended and I could picture Allegra in the future full of love and life as she always had been!

The main character in this book, written by a popular author, has a childhood with cold, unloving parents. She is foisted on her grandparents who really do not want her either. Despite these shortcomings in her family, she grows up to a productive person in the publishing industry. After her marriage ends, she leaves NYC and moves to the west coast...a new life for her...she meets an older man, becomes his assistant, falls in love, and marries him. This is a storybook romance...I liked this book. The realistic characters kept the story moving quickly. The story did end abruptly...leaving us wondering what would happen to her, Allegra, next...this is a fun book. Enjoy. Thanks Netgalley.

Joy by Danielle Steel. Such an amazing story how a child could be raised with virtually little love compassion and kindness and turn into such a wonderful human being.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC of this book.

I have been a fan of Danielle Steel for 20+ years so I had high expectations for this book. Unfortunately, I found it to be very slow paced and depressing. I didn't feel an emotional connection to any of the characters and the plot was overall very sad. Fortunately, it was a quick and easy read but I felt sad instead of joy when I finished it.

The pace of this story was really slow. It was a quick read, but the plot was weak. A lonely girl whose parents and extended family have no use for her, and her husband loves the army more than her. The story turns a little more positive when she changes coasts and finds some joy.

Awesome book. It was a sad life of Allegra. Her family couldn't love her, her husband was afraid he would kill her, and her second husband was forty years older than her. There was nothing wrong with Allegra. She just was not a priority to her parents, grandparents and first husband. Henry her second husband showed her so much love in the seven years they were together. Jordan was a friend to Allegra in the days of Henry's passing. Allegra wrote a novel to honor Henry. Danielle Steel has wrote a wonderful story about how a lonely girl has a beautiful life.

Danielle Steel’s last book that I read (Only the Brave) was an amazing piece of work, uplifting and memorable. “Joy”, unfortunately, is the exact opposite. The story follows Allegra, a resilient woman who powers through a sad childhood, a sad marriage, and a pretty sad life for at least through 80-90% of the book. The brief moments of joy were way too brief to make the story a feel good read. Fortunately, it is a fast read. Recommend you plan to read something more uplifting. I could say more, but really “Joy” is no joy and I will eagerly await the true gem from Danielle Steel because I KNOW it will be forthcoming.

Another great read from Danielle Steel. This book was heartbreaking as Allegra went through life constantly searching for love that was always just out of reach. This book does paint a harsh filter on military life - a bit extreme - but does show how important mental health recovery is for our veterans. I loved how Allegra always seemed to pick herself up and keep on going, even when it was so hard to trust in and believe in people as she had so much coldness in her life - especially early on. I didn't like the quick interlude she had with one character as it seemed a bit out of character for her but I really loved the ending and would add "Hope" to the title in addition to "Joy". I received an ARC in exchange for my review and greatly appreciate the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity.

A heart-wrenching romance novel. Allegra has never had any love given to her by her family but she has so much love to give. She stayed out of everyone’s way so she wouldn’t inconvenience them any further. Her best friend was the only person who cared about her. Her dad and grandpa were in the military and her best friend joined too. Her life had a lot of losses but also a few amazing loves of a lifetime. The epitome of someone who came from nothing who became something big. Loveeeeddd this book like usual!!!
