In Shari Lapenas new novel, we follow a small town that all quickly falls apart at the death of Diana Brewer. She had everything going for her; good looks, good grades, very sweet, and overall popular with everyone in town. Over the course of the book, we see how quickly everyone in town makes assumptions about the other townsfolk after she is found dead. Everyone is paranoid for their families, and is scared someone in town is a killer and will get away with it.

My review: I ate this book up with my bare fingers! I was lucky enough to get an advanced ebook copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. I listened to another one of Shari Lapenas other books earlier last year and was enamored with her books. She’s quickly becoming one of my favorite thriller writers!

I thought the story telling was great, and I loved how the point of views changed every few pages in this novel. It made the story interesting and kept me guessing on “whodunnit”. The plot was well thought out and the premise was so enticing that I binged this book in 3 days. Small town People drama is what I live for! I also very much enjoyed the parts where Diana’s ghost was talking to us, the audience, in first person. It gave it another level of story telling along with the third person point of views that I think is what had me wrapped up in this story for those three days!

The only thing I have to say negatively about this book is that I felt like the “bombshell” of the big secret and twist at, what I thought was the end, was not big enough. It seemed like this book was coming to a HUGH head, but when the ending was revealed, everything seemed like it wasn’t as major as it was going to be.

Even still, the twist at the VERY very end of the book and what the character said in the ending chapter gave me chills. Overall I gave this book 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun and twisted as always, and a terrific whodunnit as always, with psychologically complex characters, My only regret, is the killer was obvious to me from the start, but it didn’t take away from the fun. Another hit for sure!

Shari Lapena does not disappoint in this new thriller. This novel deals with the mysterious death of a child and what happens in the aftermath. With a few main characters, the book takes you through the loss of a friend/child and the amount of work that goes with looking at the different suspects. With new information uncovered throughout the story, the reader is kept engaged until the very last page. Just when you think you know, you have no idea.

I guessed who the murderer was early on in What Have You Done although it could have been one of many characters that was the culprit. I didn't like the "ghost" part of the story. In my opinion, it would have been better without it.

A girl is found dead in a field by the farmer that owns the field. Was it her boyfriend, her teacher, the weird guy who looks at her at work or someone completely off the radar?

This book was good, I am not into ghosty books so I do wish that wasnt a part of it so that is why I am giving 4 stars. I skimmed those parts.

Good thriller book that makes you wonder who it was the entire time. Though I think I figured it out a bit early.

I wanted to give this book 5 stars because I really enjoyed the story, however, I didn’t like the ending and there were about 9 POVs throughout this book and it was a little confusing keeping up with who was who. Overall, I thought this was a very intriguing storyline and on par with other Lapena books that I have read!

One of my favorite authors! Didn’t disappoint! The book opens with a farmer finding a dead girl -Diana- in his field. We soon meet all of the people (read- suspects) in her life - we meet her teacher, principal , coach at school, boyfriend who she broke up with the day she was murdered. We meet her friends, parents, and the farmers daughter. Is one of these people to blame? It gets juicier when Diana’s ghost shows up to look down on all of the people in her life defending themselves. But Diana doesn’t remember what happened.. until she does. This book was so good I didn’t want it to end. But I did want to find out who it was and that was all the more satisfying. Run don’t walk to pick this one up!

Shari Lapena's done it again! She never disappoints, so I was really excited to receive this ARC. To start, I loved the setting of Fairhill. It was the perfect town for a story like this. I just looked it up and it's not real, but it felt real. I think Lapena did a great job of setting the scene, both in the descriptions of the town as well as the relationships between the townspeople. The story itself took so many turns, I never could have predicted the ending. I definitely recommend this book to those who like mysteries/thrillers. I think it's another feather in Lapena's cap, and I look forward to reading whatever she does next. Thank you to Pamela Dorman Books and NetGalley for this ARC!

This book was a fantastic whodunnit about a teenager who is found dead in a field in small town Vermont. Everyone knows everyone there and how could anyone they know possibly do something like this? Told from alternating perspectives and it keeps you right on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend.

Another solid book for fans of Shari Lapena. Many twists and turns as secrets unfold over who killed the teenage girl that everyone in the town loved.

Shari Lapena is an "auto-request" author for me and I've read her entire backlist ever since her 2016 "Couple Next Door", so I was really quite happy to get an early copy of her latest, "What Have You Done?". This is yet another very solid mystery thriller, centering on who murdered a popular small-town teen, Diana. There's plenty of suspects, plus twist & turns galore as I raced through this fast-paced story. Really enjoyed it & highly recommend it to all who enjoy this genre! My sincere thanks to NG, et al. for providing an electronic digital review copy, my pleasure to review it.

I absolutely love this book! I could not put it down. The storyline was thrilling and suspenseful and I just had no idea where the author was going to take me next! 5 stars!

Well told story that keeps you guessing as you hear from the characters in a murdered teenage girl’s life from boyfriend to best friends to teachers and creepy stalkers. Sad at times, frustrating at others especially when dealing with how hard it is for females to report abuse. I’m not one for grizzly murder stories but this one is very different and well done especially with character development.

Another hit from Shari Lapena! This is a classic whodunit with lots of twists thrown in. I was constantly second guessing who the true killer was and could've read this in a single sitting. Short chapters, easy writing, and page turning suspense.

Another Lapena book that I did not want to put down until I reached the end.

Several characters, giving multiple perspectives, that add the creepy feeling of the who done it theme. This made me think and rethink who the perpetrator was. I enjoyed the exposure of the community members along the way!

This was a quick read that hooks you right from the beginning. A teenaged girl is found murdered in a field and there are several possibilities as to who committed the crime. A few other side stories complicate the matter but add to the tension throughout the novel. I got this as an ARC and Shari Lapena does it again w another incredible book. She will have you hooked by the 2nd page. Her characters are so easy to get invested it. This is by far my favorite book of hers, a must read. #netgally #bestbook2024

Shari Lapena has penned several favorite books of mine and this book is no exception. We follow the murder of popular teenager Diana, and in doing so become privy to the perspectives of several people close with her. There are numerous red herrings in this book that lend suspense to the plot, and ultimately as we get to know the dead teenager and the suspects in her life, we also get glimpses of their secrets and what could have motivated them to murder Diana.

I enjoyed the plot structure, there was never a dull moment and I found myself frantically trying to solve the mystery. There was a lot happening in this book, but even when I thought I’d found our murderer I couldn’t have anticipated the ending.

I read this book in one sitting, and while I enjoyed its fast pace, I felt a little defeated at the end. While it may not be my favorite Shari Lapena novel, it’s definitely worth the read.
