Another fast paced book from Steve Frech.
As I have come to expect from this author, the book was well written and kept you guessing the whole way through. What really did happen to his wife? Is he safe? And what of his family?
Get settled for an adventure as this story unravels, leaving you no option but to read ‘just one more chapter’ as you won’t be able to put it down!

This book was my first by this author and better than i expected. The first part was very strong and engaging, the characters likeable and it was easy to read. The action part was less interesting to me, but that is how i feel aot action, nothing bad about the book and the ethical issues make it more meaningful. I will be checking out his other books 4.5

What a ride this story was. I could not put the kindle down until I had finished .
I sympathised with Mark who was always trying to be the good father and worried about the relationship his daughter was forming with Aiden. The characters were so believable and the descriptions of their emotions were so well written.
The story starts with a bang and ends with one as well.

I was invited to read this title, and I’m extremely grateful! Steve French is a new author to me, and I’m most impressed! This was an explosive thriller that I got into from the first page. Mark is anxiously waiting for wife Amy, where is she?

I loved that while the writing was simplistic (no criticism!) it was also edgy and fast paced. I will definitely read more!

A gripping thriller. Great characters, a fast-moving plot and superb writing make this a great read. Steve French’s books always drive you to finish them to find out whodunnit but at the same time you don’t want to finish them because you’re enjoying the story. A great read.

𝑴𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓. 𝑰 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓.

This book was so good, I could forgive the author for it not being the next installment of the Meredith Somerset series!

With almost zero exposition, the reader is thrown into Mark and Amy's world where he is a stay-at-home dad to teen daughter Tatum and she is a brilliant part of the fast-paced financial world. When Mark drops Amy off t the airport for yet another business trip, he notices that she seems a little quieter, but he chalks that up to stress; after all, these trips have become more and more frequent. They part with their signature phrase, "It was always you," and all is well until Amy is late returning. Mark's world implodes when he finds out Amy's firm has no record of the client she was supposedly visiting, and then the worst news of all...Amy has been found, still in town, but dead.

Nothing about Amy's death makes sense, and the more Mark searches for answers, the more he is shut down. Amy has been keeping some deadly secrets, and while Mark works to uncover the truth, some powerful people are making sure that he or Tatum never finds out what Amy has been up to.

A dizzying whirlwind with layer after layer of secrecy that I just couldn't read quickly enough! You will care about this family, you will feel the betrayal, and you will be completely engaged in this precarious house of cards. Many thanks to NetGalley and HQ/HQ Digital for the early copy. This book will publish February 27, 2024.

Wow! Layer upon layer upon layer! This had me hooked from the start. The characters were well written and real their actions made sense and they weren't just making stupid decisions so further plot points could happen. The plot moves forward constantly and there were so many twists. I absolutely loved every second
