"Surely you know by now...all I want is you."

Beautiful quote. I really didn't think the main characters would get to this point. There was so much animosity between them, but gradually over the entire book they changed when they really cared to look at each other. Layers upon layers were discovered and it was just a beautiful experience. I could not recommend this book more.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Dear Megan,

Thank you for writing, again, another perfect novel. I adored this book from beginning to end. It's the love story I want to reread over and over again.

I love historical romance by the sea. Brighton was a gorgeous setting and I enjoyed learning about it along with Anna.

True enemies to lovers. The angst. A story of first impressions gone wrong. The beauty of forced proximity and vulnerability that brings such delightful characters together.

I adored Graham and his determination, generosity and hardworking nature. A man after my own heart. And pair him up with a fun, sweet and salty heroine, you have a match made in heaven. Tabitha gets all the credit! (Psst I love that child!)

The ROMANCE was pure perfection. Have I said perfect too much? Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

Thank you @authormeganwalker for writing one of my top reads this year. I already want to read it again!

Xoxo,
Kira

This quote!!! This is how I feel about this book. I will be clearing a spot on my bookshelves for all future books written by Megan Walker!
Enemies to lovers with forced proximity has always been my favorite, but this book is something special. The enemies to lovers transition is perfectly paced and utterly believable. The sparkling wit, crackling chemistry, and swoon worthy romance are masterfully done. And that kiss...sigh! If you love the historical romance genre, you do not want to miss this book!

I loved this proper romance book! I love a good enemies to lovers romance, and this did not disappoint. I loved the banter between Anna and Graham! I haven’t read many books that take place in Brighton, and it was a nice change from London. Anna hates how Graham takes up so much of her father’s time, time that should be spent with her, especially during this time when Anne really needs him. Graham is so grateful for Mr. Lane’s advice and trust in his business investments, but he can’t stand his friend’s uppity daughter. Graham has a great idea for some property in Brighton, but since Mr. Lane is needed in Bath, he sends Anna ahead to decide if it’s a worthy investment. And Anna is determined it won’t be in the hopes of stopping Graham from coming around so often

This book is perfect for fans of regency romance! It’s got the stress of needing connections and good matches, drama of society, but then also the quaint life of the country and seaside and the epiphany of work ethic appeal 😏😏

I loved everything about the relationship between Graham and Anna’s relationship. The authenticity of their dislike for each other, and the organic way they learned more about each other and truly came to care for one another was absolute perfection! But I also loved how their banter and pranks didn’t end *chef’s kiss*😘

After reading this book, I’m going to have to add Brighton as a destination when I finally travel to England. Megan made it sound so lovely! Though I don’t really want to catch any fish… IYKYK

Definitely pick this one up if regency romance is your thing. And while you’re at it, make sure to read Megan’s other books. They are all in my top favorite regencies!

Thanks Megan and @properromanceseries for the advanced copies and the gifted finished copy. So happy to have this book on my shelf to stare at and reminisce about Brighton and the sea.

Love love LOVE this book!! I knew I would because I loved her others, but it still just made me happy smile and laugh the whole way through. This book was one that will have you thinking about it between each sitting, and will have desperate to pick it up again.
I loved the easy banter between Anna and Graham. The thin line between enemies and love is quickly crossed as they are forced to spend time with one another. They learn to see the good in one another but still give each other a hard time along the way.
There was so much to love but some highlights for me:
🐚 enemies to lovers
🐚forced proximity
🐚goat cheese
🐚poppies
🐚wavy hair
🐚witty banter
🐚Tabs
🐚fishing
🐚family above all
🐚 sacrifice for those we love

I seriously adored this book and will cherish their story! Read it. Seriously, you will love it and I’m here to chat with when you do 💙

Thanks to the author and publisher for an advance copy, all opinions are my own.

I absolutely adored Highcliffe House by Megan Walker! It’s the first novel I’ve read by the author, but it won’t be the last. I’ve already added all of her others to my TBR! If you are a fan of Regency romance with an enemies to lovers trope, you’ve got to read Highcliffe House!

There are so many things to love about this novel. The setting moves from London to Brighton when Anna Lane wants to leave the ton to their gossip about her recent humiliating romance. Unfortunately, her father needs to travel to Bath and can’t take her to their country house. However, he has another plan for Anna. He asks her to accompany his friend and business partner, Graham Everett, to decide whether her father should invest in land in Brighton. You’d think this would be an excellent suggestion, but Anna cannot stand Graham. He’s taken her father’s attention away from her for years, and she can’t see anything worse than spending a week with Graham in Brighton. Yes, the enemies to lovers notion is set in motion.

Graham’s family makes up some of the wonderful characters you’ll find in Highcliffe House. His youngest sister is a precocious child who automatically takes to Anna. Fortunately, Anna takes to her as well. It’s through this instant friendship between Anna and Graham’s sister that Anna and Graham get to know each other’s true personalities. The author is exceptionally talented at bringing these characters to life. I really felt as if I knew them personally.

Highcliffe House is a page-turning romance. I couldn’t stop reading it! I swooned and laughed and even cried a bit. I highly recommend this delightful romance!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Gosh this was an enjoyable read. I've been craving a good regency romance, and this one was just right.

The enemies to lovers trope was well done, and at first I was so frustrated with Anna (not Graham - he was a favourite from the start). I loved Anna's growth, and that the story did not rely on miscommunication tropes to progress. Graham was grounded, kind, and interesting - I loved that he was willing to forgo his pride for the sake of his family. His sisters rounded out the cast wonderfully, particularly Tabby, and the Brighton setting was another featured character.

Most of all, I enjoyed the authenticity and emotional maturity of the characters as they worked through challenges in a relatable and determined way that was truly a joy to read. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Shadow Mountain Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

This was my first time reading a book by Megan Walker, and I loved it. I really enjoy reading historical fictions and this was definitely up there with my favorites. I loved the enemies to lovers trope. Where the FMC is a feisty and force to be reckoned with. The banter was fun and reminded me the wittiness in Pride and Prejudice.

This Regency Romance was a wonderful light read. It was a sweet story where both characters overcame their preconceived notions of each other found room for love.

I can't wait to dive into more books by Megan Walker!

Just the sweetest historical romance with two endearing and loveable characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the evolution of their relationship: from the initial animosity to genuine friendship and finally blossoming into love. Loved their clear communication (after resolving the initial misunderstandings), which were both believable and heartwarming.

Overall, a delightful read that I would recommend to any historical romance lovers!

4.5 STARS

This was exactly what I was in the mood for. Highcliffe House is enemies-to-more done right, with all the romantic regency vibes that make this an amazing comfort read! Loved it!

This was the best kind of enemies to lovers tale. Graham sees Mr. Lane as a business partner and mentor. Mr. Lane’s daughter, Anna, is a beautiful shrew! They enjoy trading insults couched in politeness, but when her father sends her to Graham’s family home to check on a potential investment, they finally start to see each other clearly.

I loved Graham’s family, and the lighthearted moments in Brighton. There were so many sweet, playful scenes. I was laughing out loud!

If you like your regency romance’s full of witty dialogue, adventures, and down to earth characters, you are going to love this book!

I love this book! I can’t wait to read more by this author. The characters are realistic and relatable. The romance is swoony without the spice. The side characters are great too. The enemies to lovers theme is well-done here and the events of the story kept me wanting more. I have no complaints.

An 1800's historical romance with witty banter, fierce rivals to more, a financially poor but love rich family, and a beautiful wealthy young woman -all come together to form an amazing story.

I absolutely loved the development of the relationship between Graham and Anna. It wasn't a quick 'enemies to lovers, but an understanding of the why of the other's actions, and the realization that they knew either well. They grew to appreciate the strengths that were first perceived as arrogance, and the kindness that was initially thought to be manipulation.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves a period romance, a strong FMC, witty banter, overcoming obstacles, or just a genuinely well written story.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my opinion.

My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. Well written and entertaining, I enjoyed this novel. I usually don't read Regency romances, but I felt (as an impulse) to read something different and I'm glad I did.

UTTERLY BESOTTED! This is my new favorite Megan Walker book. I loved absolutely everything about this. I loved the true enemies to lovers start with all the banter and sharp barbs. The chemistry was THERE. But my oh my, the discovery phase is where this book absolutely shines. As Anna and Graham are forced to spend a week together, we see the walls come down as they truly get to know each other and my heart was absolutely giddy over every special moment they shared. This story brings all the FEELS and it’s the sweetest slow burn.

The communication is just so beautiful and heartfelt. Graham is such a swoony hero. Such a man, but also has the most tender heart when it comes to the women in his life. The lengths he will go for them is absolutely darling! And I loved Anna so so much! Her relationship with Tabs - oh my heart!! How she let Tabs in and encouraged her curiosity and how Anna just became a natural part of the Everett family - I adored it all so so much. The romance completely swept me off my feet and gave me all the butterflies. I can’t recommend this enough for historical romance lovers!

“Needed is different than wanted. And you happen to be both.”

* Enemies to lovers is my favorite kind 😏
* If the dummies would only talk to each other, my goodness
* I am loving the slowly coming to know one another
* The teasing and banter is just 🤌

Oh my goodness I devoured this book! I love Megan Walker and everything she writes. 😍 And this one gave me major Pride and Prejudice vibes with the whole way their perspectives on each other changed.

I actually really liked Anna right from the start. Yeah she was maybe being a little stubborn and selfish at the beginning but.. I felt like her feelings were valid! And I loved seeing her grow and change and come to know Graham.

And Graham? Love him. I saw so much of myself in him and how he worries and plans and wants to make sure everything is perfect. And I loved how he came to know and love Anna.

And can we talk about the side characters? LOVE. Especially Tabitha. I so hope to see her again in another book because she is hilarious. 😂

In conclusion read this book and you’ll be happier. Hehe

Anna Lane was a tiny bit autocratic. Born to wealth, the only child of a widowed father she had everything she wanted. Except genuine love from a partner. Having found out the hard way that her suitor was only interested in her wealth and was in fact engaged to another, Anna wanted to escape from London, and the gossip.

Graham Everett was of humble beginnings. Anna’s father was his mentor and guide and Anna hated it that her father gave time and energy to listen to Graham and to guide him. When the offer of going to stay with the Everett family in their modest home in Brighton came up, both Anna and Graham were not happy. Graham’s plans for a huge investment in the Brighton property market became wholly dependent on Anna’s recommendations to her father. Graham knew the situation looked bleak.

Moving to Brighton, the Everett family warmly welcomed Anna and Graham started showing her the best aspects of Brighton. Slowly Anna and Graham both discovered not antipathy but warmer feelings for each other.

The story depicted in both London and Brighton of 1816 was descriptive and provided a background for this family/love story.

Megan Walker delivers once again with this enemy to lovers romance that gave me Pride and Prejudice vibes! This dual POV story set in Brighton follows Anna and Graham as they learn to let go of their preconceived notions of each other and let their walls down to connect. I loved reading and learning about Brighton, a place I’ve heard of a lot in regency romances and did not know a lot about. It was the perfect backdrop to this couple’s story!
