Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoture for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book publishes on 2/19/24!

The basic plot to this book is unique for me and something that I would like to see more often - when a couple wins the lottery, what secrets will be dug up? Throughout the book, we get 2 POVs; personally, one of these characters I found to be irritating and not relatable. There were several twists in this book right up until the end; however, I will say that this book overall fell a little flat for me. Would recommend this book for anyone new to the genre or who likes a roller-coaster type read!

The Wife's Mistake by Lorna Dounaeva is a suspenseful and intriguing story.
A very twisty book which kept me interested all the way through. A clever story full to the brim with twists and turns so much so I didn't want to finish it.
This book is such a page turner. It grips you right from the beginning all the way to the very end with lots of twists and turns.

Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

I have to admit for the first quarter of this book I felt thoroughly confused… The story I was reading, did not match the summary of the book posted online. It took me a while to figure out all of the characters names and how they related to each other.

*Some spoilers below*
Natalie is married woman who is unhappy in her job, and then she wins the lottery for 12million. Just as she is about to tell her husband, she begins to suspect he may be cheating on her. The first 25% of the book is her following him around, and deciding whether or not she should tell him about the winning ticket. Also, the sister Liz made me super nervous during the first portion of the book… I was worried she was going to try to steal the ticket!

Then we get to Chapter 23… and just another crazy twist… Heather. By the way, there’s no mention of the affair with Vivienne anymore. I guess we’re on a different journey now?!

Oh and don’t forget about Lexi. And Amy. And Robin. Phillip (who has access to the dark web). Mason. Damon (who isn’t who he seems). And Oliver. And Daisy. Gail. Marian. My gawd….

It’s just a rollercoaster. People jumping from hotel balconies and almost landing on other main characters. Blackmail. Cheating. Break-ins. Vandalism. Secret adoptions. Stabbing themselves. Doing jail time.

In the end… it was a twisty thriller with many parts that were entertaining, but it fell a little short of the mark for me. I think there were too many characters, too many villains, and too many twists.

*A sincere thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing the advance copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.*

Literally still in shock from reading this! The amount of twists oh my gosh! I swear I was hooked on this book. I was up until the wee hours reading this as I could not put it down until I finished it.

The characters where so perfect for this book you find yourself unsure of who to trust and the whole concept of the story I just loved. The whole winning the lottery part I was so excited I could just imagine it, but then you have the horrors that come with that and how life will never be the same again!

This book is absolutely phenomenal! If you read one book this year make sure it is this as it is definitely sure to be a bestseller!

Thank you to @NetGalley and @bookouture for another thrilling read! I read the ebook and listened to the audiobook. Absolutely LOVED this suspenseful thriller!

Wining the lottery isn’t always for the best…it may just be your demise.

Natalie and Hayden are struggling, middle-aged, newlyweds that win 12.5 million pounds. At first, Natalie keeps her win secret from Hayden, worried that he may or may not be cheating with his Megan Fox look-alike co-worker. Upon winning the lottery, unbeknownst to her husband, Natalie quits her job, starts looking for coffee shop venues and splurging on small purchases and uber rides.

All the while, as Natalie concealed her secret lottery win, I was a complete anxiety ridden mess! I kept waiting for someone to steal her hidden winning ticket or it to be lost. The author did a great job in building tension, making you feel like the story was headed in that direction! It was seriously AGONIZING and had me at the edge of my seat!

Natalie and Hayden claim their wining ticket and start to build the life of their dreams as true colors are shown, buried secrets discovered and a whole lot of deceit takes place. Natalie starts getting threatening messages and a long lost daughter comes out of the woodwork.

This book had me glued from the fist sentence to the last! A definite dramatic and suspenseful thriller that did not dissapoint!

Thank you to the publisher and author for gifting me an ARC.

This was a quick and enjoyable read. While I enjoyed the storyline, some of the twists seemed a bit unbelievable and overall I had no one to root for, which made the ending a bit hard to feel satisfied with.

This novel has attracted a lot of mixed reviews, so I was intrigued to read a copy, too. I would like to thank the publishers and NetGalley who gifted me a free ARC in exchange for the following honest, unbiased review. The novel’s starting point is familiar: an unhappy female, trapped in an unloved job, finds herself in an extraordinary situation when she discovers she has won several million dollars in the lottery. This should be the start of a comfortable and stable life, and an improvement to the strained relationship with her husband Hayden, but things do not turn out like this for Natalie: as more and more secrets are exposed, and her life becomes steadily more fragile and vulnerable. Someone in her past or Hayden’s past is determined not to let things rest ….
Whilst a little far-fetched and contrived in places, this was nevertheless an enjoyable read and the novel represents a good addition to the domestic thriller stable. I will be interested to see what its author produces next.

I would say this was more 2.5 star for me. For being a thriller it wasn’t thrilling. The storyline was interesting and I did want to see how it all turned out. However the timeline was confusing it kept jumping back to other points like flashbacks and then back to the current story. The twists lacked something. They weren’t as exciting and didn’t necessarily leave me to want to continue to see what would happen. Overall just doesn’t flow. Just not the type of thriller I’m used to in my opinion and not interested to read anything else from this author.

I have to say right off that I loved reading this book! Natalie and Hayden live an ordinary life. Natalie works in a cafe and dreams of owning her own coffee shop. One day everything seems to go wrong. Natalie makes a mistake at work and is chided for it then misses her bus home. She goes to a nearby newsstand and buys a bar of chocolate and a lottery ticket. And wins more money than she could imagine!

What follows is one of the most suspenseful tales I've read. This story has more twists and turns than a mountain road. Some very good for Natalie and Hayden, others very complicated. I think most of us have dreamed of winning the lottery and how wonderful things would be but unfortunately there are dark sides to being rich and as I followed Natalie and Hayden's lives I began to wonder if wealth like that really makes life easier after all. If you're a fan of twisty tales with surprises along the way, The Wife's Mistake is for you!

This book was unexpected. My perspectives of the various characters change so frequently throughout as they make decisions and the past is revealed. There were plenty of twists to keep me interested and I didn’t see the ending coming! I listened to the audiobook and read the digital book as well. I enjoyed the narrator 🎧

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #TheWifesMistake by #LornaDounaeva. The book is a wild ride from the start to the end. Winning the lottery is a dream come true. Or is it? Such emotion, drama, lies and murder encompassed this book until the final twist ending.

Lots of twists and turns with this novel! Unfortunately, the pace was slow throughout the book and some of the characters actions are some I don't agree with! Our main character has won the lottery but quickly after finding out about this amazing opportunity, she realizes her husband is cheating on her. In my opinion, I would of kicked him out and enjoyed the lottery prize with myself and loved ones! With this in mind, it was interesting enough to find out how she was going to confront them but with the story being slow, I became a bit disinterested. Overall, I believe the last few chapters were the best part of this novel!

The Wife's Mistake by Lorna Dounaeva

Great twist and gripping storyplot.

The story has a slow start, but it then get into the pace. It first started with Natalie won the lottery, she decided not to tell her husband because her husband had an affair.

But then they were having their dream life - a life that they didn’t have to worry about money. Then more secrets were found…things were getting more unpredictable.

What will you do if you win the lottery? Will you tell your loved one…?

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and the author for my copy.

After a bit of a slow start and time to get to grips with the different characters and storyline it really turned out to be a rollercoaster listen with many a twist and turn with the listener being suspicious of everyone! Really well developed storyline and characters and superb narration that was both engaging and added to the experience. Told more so from Hannah’s point of view but also Hayden’s was thrown in and sometimes it became a little repetitive as same instances but a different point of view. This was a great listen with lots going on you didn’t know which way to turn. Was different in the way of storylines which is always a good thing as some can be overdone. I couldn’t stop listening until I had it all put to bed. Definitely recommend…

Thanks to Netgalley for my ARC

I'm ultimately disappointed with The Wife's Mistake. While there were a few interesting twists and turns, this just felt too slow for the first half and too twisty towards the end. I spent most of the book asking myself "what's the point here?" and "where is she going with these people?" Also this deals heavily with money. Money is not a topic I enjoy reading about in general. I wouldn't have been interested in reading this if I had known about the heavy money related plotlines.

This may work for people that love tons of twists throughout the story, but it was definitely not my type of thriller.

This was an entertaining, twisty thriller, which kept me engaged form start to finish. I did guess a couple twists, but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment. Recommended!

This one was frustrating. There were a lot of twists and turns, which I normally love. But I just really didn’t connect with any of the characters. They were pretty much all unlikable. I felt like the miscommunication, or lack of communication, was the root of most of the issues in this book, and that’s just not my favorite trope. I also didn’t like how abrupt the ending was.

This is now where near as thrilling as the novel I thought I was requesting. It started off quite pedestrian and slowly dragged on. It just did not feel realistic or believable.

The Wife’s Mistake has a slow start but when the plot stars to unravel it piques up speed. It’s a twisty read, full of suspense and so many turns it made it impossible to stop reading. There’re so many secrets coming to light and the mistrust in relationships.

Both our main characters – Natalie and Hayden - have secrets of their own that the other has no knowledge of. But then Natalie wins a lottery ticket and wonder what she’ll do and if she’s willing to share the news with Hayden. I was shocked to say the least with the way the book ended. I didn’t saw it coming and it was so good.

Overall, I felt like the book captured well enough how people tend to hide their true selves because they’re afraid of how others will react to it. Also, it portrait perfectly how people can change when money is involved in the equation. I really enjoyed this book and did not see the end coming.

Thank you, Bookouture & NetGalley, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.
