This is a great book for explaining to young children how math is important every day. A great addition to any elementary classroom.

I especially liked how this book has a focus on real world experience and scenarios. It gives the steps of how to cook/bake. Vaguely it gives ways to use math, could have been more detailed or precise. I thought the photographs were beautiful. I especially appreciated the multicultural representation.

I was excited to read a math-based non-fiction cooking book, but I felt that the pictures didn't align with the content, and it wouldn't hold a young child's attention. I would have preferred more visuals of the measuring tools, and more visual examples of some of the word problems that were proposed.

Since word problems can be challenging in math, this book missed a real opportunity to help children truly visualize the subject matter.

This book is a great reminder of how much you can actually learn just by doing simple tasks. This book can be read by a child or for someone like me who has a child under reading age I can still apply these questions and skills while doing things like introducing cooking at the same time!

As a mom I am always looking for creative ways to teach my children. This book combined cooking with math and used it as a great opportunity to teach little ones all about simple math. The bright real life pictures were perfect so that even my 4 year old could understand what was going on. It was a great way to teach him how we use math everyday. And making cookies was a perfect introduction to follow along and see something completed using simple math skills. We really enjoy this book. I highly recommend to any families who are homeschooling and looking for a great kick start to math. Both fun and educational. I also recommend it to be used in the early childhood and elementary classrooms.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ I had a little side gig as a math tutor for kids for several years. Most of my students were middle grade, so I was primarily teaching basic math, algebra, and some geometry. There was always one consistent statement I heard from my students. I’LL NEVER USE THIS IN REAL LIFE! When they said that I always gave them real life examples of when they would have to β€œsolve for x” and cooking and baking examples were always the first ones I mentioned.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ This book doesn’t get into algebra or geometry, but it does talk about recipes, counting ingredients, doubling quantities for bigger batches and so on. It takes you through the various steps of making chocolate chip cookies and points out all the times when items are counted or math is used.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ I love real life examples like this book provides, because while we may not use calculus in everyday life, we will use percentages, fractions, ratios, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and more to calculate things like areas, lengths, times, weights, discounts, volumes, interest rates, and more.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ Fundamentals are important. This book is a great starting point to demonstrate to kids that math is definitely used in real life.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ This book is 24 pages long and targeted at children 6 to 9 years old.

This is a book designed to help teach children math in baking. It is well explained and the color photos make the book fun to read.

The recipe is broken down by showing how to double a recipe, remove ingredients, and add the bake time and cooling time to see the length of time before the cookies can be eaten.

I was excited to get my kids into the kitchen and show them all these little tricks.

This is a perfect book for early elementary students to teach them about a recipe, mixing ingredient amounts , adding and subtracting and doubling ingredient amounts.Perfect for the emerging baker(1st-2nd grade).

This book will be a useful resource for youngsters who may find mathematics challenging. Even more so, if they struggle to relate what they hear in the classroom to everyday life.

Cooking in general - and baking, in particular - require a clear understanding of measurements. By following a recipe, and learning how to make adjustments based on preferences or allergies etc, children can practice their maths skills without feeling stressed.

Kids will have fun with this book - and they may learn something useful about cooking as well as mathematics in the process. A real win-win! It gets 3.5 stars.
