Interesting read about a story that starts off with a couple celebrating their anniversary when the wife gets a strange text of pictures of her husband with another woman. The story goes through their split and what factors get in the way of them potentially getting back together.

The Split by S.E. Lynes is original and an amazing page turner. Highly recommend and will purchase several physical and digital copies for library collections.

Twist upon twist upon twist!
I could not put it down once I reached the second half of this book.
I highly recommend it as a twisty thriller!

The Split by S E Lynes is a psychological thriller will twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.

When Jessica wakes up the morning after her anniversary, she is happy because she had such a wonderful night with her husband, until her phone lights up with pictures from an unknown number. The pictures show her husband with another woman, and after she confronts him, he refuses to confess to an affair. Angry and hurt she throws him out.

Will refuses to explain the pictures and thinks that listening to his wife and going to stay at a hotel will give her time to cool off. Over the years, he has cared more about the children than things like his appearance. He doesn’t realize that small things like wearing socks with holes in them make Jessica feel like he doesn’t care about appearances and maybe he doesn’t care about her. That maybe he has become apathetic.

When Will refuses to explain why he is at a hotel with another woman, miscommunication and deception causes a chain of events that have both Jessica and Will rethinking their relationship.

I liked the different twists. The writing style switched between his and her perspectives, giving you both points of view and they way each viewed the situation. At times the story seemed to drag, but when it picked up speed, it was full throttle . I definitely enjoyed the story and will check out other books by S E Lynes. The Split will keep you guessing.

The night after celebrating their seventh anniversary, Jessica discovers husband, Will, has been cheating when ‘a friend’ messages her a whole series of photos of him with another woman. The marriage is over as far as she’s concerned, and she asks him to leave. There’s no coming back, especially as her father was a cheat too.

Will swears that things aren’t what they seem and it appears that this isn’t your average affair but Jessica is adamant that she’s not giving him a second chance.

The couple have been together for 15 years and have two young children, Cassie (6) and Charlie (4). Will is a house husband and also works part time as a life coach, while Jessica works full time in London, doing 12-hour days, attending meetings and going out for drinks after work.

After their split, Will is staying at a local Travelodge in Brentford when he meets a man called Ian Robbins, who offers him a place to stay, but right from the start I was rather suspicious and wary of him. Things all seemed too good to be true and it felt like Robbins was grooming him for something!

The novel is told from Will and Jessica’s points of view and alternates between the two and, as the story progresses, things just seem to get worse and worse for them both! Jessica spots someone watching their house and struggles to do her demanding job and look after the children, even with help from her mum and best friend, Lena.

Lena acts like she is supportive but I had my doubts at times and wondered if she had feelings for Will. Also, several of the mums from school keep appearing throughout and I was curious if they were involved somehow. It all made for fascinating reading!

Will and Jessica make some awful decisions. Will is naive and far too trusting. They’re both really stubborn and don’t communicate properly at all. If they’d sat down and talked properly about things, they could have avoided a lot of the heartache that followed, but the novel would have been a lot shorter!

Overall, this was a gripping and well-plotted read, with multiple twists and turns! It’s fast paced, tense and intense and kept my interest throughout as I was trying to second guess what on earth was going on with all the characters. I was suspicious of everyone and kept thinking of lots of different scenarios but could never quite figure out what was going on – the author was always one step ahead!

I was genuinely quite scared for several characters at various points and was wondering how everything was going to be resolved in this intriguing tale. The story was a little far-fetched at times but I liked that – I’m always happy to suspend disbelief while reading!

I’ve read four of the author’s books now and they’re always entertaining and engaging reads that have me turning the pages quickly and I don’t want to put them down!

Another great story for. S E Lynes. Really enjoyed this book and didn’t want it to finish. Characters that you could relate to, flawed and human. Would recommend this book.

I love S.E.Lynes books and was looking forward to this one, however it fell flat for me. I just didnt gel with any of the characters and felt it was a little to far fetched and drawn out.

This was a decent thriller, i was slightly underwhelmed but all in all a twisty read and one that i'm sure loads would enjoy!

The Split kept me on my toes, turning the pages at warp speed wanting to know what was going to happen next in this riveting page turner! The secrets in this book are practically jumping off the pages.

There are many pictures of her husband, Will in increasing alarming pictures with another woman. In tears, her heart broken, she confronts her husband who offers no explanation beyond that it is not what it looks like. Angry, hurt, confused, and heartbroken, Jessica throws him out of their home.

That is only the beginning of this shocking, brimming with secrets, and twist filled book. There is a lot going on in this book. S.E. Lynes threw in quite a few well-placed twists to not only keep readers invested but to keep the pace moving at a nice speed. I could feel the characters hurt, their pain, their anger, their shock, and their confusion. I enjoyed how S.E. Lynes showed how people grappling with hurt and heartbreak do not always make the best decisions or at least well thought out ones. That they are operating on pure emotion which sometimes gets in the way of making better judgement calls. I found myself chanting "communicate, Communicate, COMMUNICATE" throughout the book.

Gripping, shocking, tense and well written.

I look forward to reading what S.E. Lynes writes next!

A tense read, sometimes a bit slow paced but with a satisfying albeit sad end.
The characters were definitely flawed, sometimes I liked them but other times I didn’t, however the plot was gripping and frustrating at times when Will couldn’t see what was happening right in front of his eyes!
Overall I enjoyed this novel.

The Split is a roller coaster, full of twists and turns! Jessica and Will are celebrating their anniversary when Jessica receives photos of Will with another woman from an unknown sender. I enjoyed that this book could have been a typical read about a marital affair, however it brought so many unexpected surprises! I was on the edge of my seat seeing what would happen and was rooting for a happy ending for Jessica! The plot was original and had so much going on through the entire book. Thank you to S.E. I really enjoy S.E Lyon’s work typically. Unfortunately this book just didn’t grab me like the rest. I wasn’t invested in the characters and it felt like they weren’t fully fleshed out. It was also a predictable ending.

There is a lot going on in this book and it wasn't quite what I was expecting but I enjoyed it. For starters, it's written in my favourite 'his & hers' format. I'm always fascinated how easily two people can misinterpret each others actions and see the same things so differently. I also love tales where one bad or rash decision can set off an extraordinary chain of events or in main character Will's words: "He just never thought things would escalate the way they have." And, escalate they did, to the point where you have to pretty much suspend disbelief. But do that and enjoy this intricately woven web of lies, manipulation and misdemeanor for what it is - a crazy, twisty tale where nothing is as it appears.

After a perfect evening to celebrate their wedding anniversary Jessica is devastated when, the following morning, she receives photographs on her phone which show her husband Will with another woman. Refusing to accept that there could be a plausible explanation for the photographs Jessica insists that Will leaves their home and two children and refuses to listen to any of his explanations. Will is devastated by the mess which has been created and when he is offered a lifeline by a kind stranger, he soon discovers, to his cost, that there are many facets to kindness and not all of them are good ones.

Cleverly written, in a story which grips from the very beginning this is a salutary story of what happens when you get drawn into a world which you cannot control and of the terrible consequences which follow deadly mistakes. Filled with secrets and lies The Split is another intricately crafted psychological suspense story from a talented writer who, with each successive story, just gets better and better.

Let me start with this is not the most realistic book I’ve ever read, but wow it was entertaining. I was drawn into it from the start and knew something was off, but it took a long time for me to figure it out.

What starts out as a huge family drama turns into a twisty psychological adrenaline filled page turner. That last 25%. I could not put it down.

Jess and Will celebrate their wedding anniversary. Jess and Will are loved up and to anyone outside, they appear the perfect pair. However, that is until Jess receives photos from someone of Will with another woman!!

Wow just Wow! This is @selynesauthor best book yet (and I’ve read most of them so can judge). I have no idea how a written review will do this book any justice because it’s just brilliant.

Lynes has hooked me very quickly with this one. Once I was pulled in I became very unwilling to put this down. This is a book, I devoured in one sitting, staying up far too late.

The Split is perfectly paced. I was transported by the writing and felt as though I was watching this play out. That is a real talent of this author, you feel everything and everyone is familiar.

I love how unpredictable this has been. This is a book that has been completely gripping and unputdownable. I definitely couldn’t predict where this was going. I love how the tension has ramped up as you read further.

Lynes is a brilliant author and this is a must for the TBR. The Split will cause your pulse to race and on times, I’ve literally felt my heart pounding.

S.E. Lynes does a great job in writing a psychological thriller that is interesting and worked with the genre. I enjoyed the concept of the story and how everything worked with what I wanted from a thriller novel. The characters felt like they were supposed to and enjoyed how well they were written. This left me wanting to read more and glad I got to read this.

When Jessica was a young girl, her father would bring other women home while her mother worked nights. This affected her deeply.

Now, Jessica is married to Will and they are the parents of Cassie and Charlie. Will never did well with his jobs so he is a stay at home Dad while Jessica has a demanding job which sometimes requires her to work late. With the children in school, Will has started working as a life coach. When he is approached by a woman asking him to help her and her children and it must be kept secret, his compassion revolves to the point someone has taken pictures of them in compromising situations. When Jessica receives the pictures from someone, she is devastated and kicks Will out of the house. When he wanders into a bar, he is approached by a well-dressed man named Ian Robbins who offers him a place to stay for as long as he needs it. He agrees and the two of them end up spending a lot of time together. Meanwhile, Jessica’s heart is breaking. While she doesn’t want a divorce, she tells Will that she has contacted a solicitor. That’s when Ian starts to groom Will with how he can be the winner in the divorce and gain full custody of the children.

As this story plays along, it becomes more and more tense with Will getting literally sucked into Ian Robbins’ life. The fight for dominance over the split between Jessica and Will becomes truly ugly. It’s the ending that is so powerful that makes this book. Very well crafted with compelling characters. Enjoy!
