Murder at the Lake had me from the first page! Madison is about to walk down the aisle to marry Troy, when he is arrested for murder in the middle of their wedding. Madison puts on her detective pants and gets to work to save the one she loves. But can she save him in time? This book was great, I enjoyed every minute of it. The plot was original and I appreciated the twists along the way. I will be adding more Carolyn Arnold books to my reading list. Thanks to Carolyn Arnold, Hibbert & Stiles Publishing Inc. and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book prior to publishing.

Another great Detective Madison Knight book that starts out with a bang. Madison is in her wedding dress ready to be married when her fiancé is arrested. Grabbed me from the start and I couldn’t put it down.

Detective Madison Knight has finally found someone she trusts enough to marry. She and Troy are both part of the police department and understand what the job requires. It is their wedding day, a small gathering at their home with the trappings of a "traditional wedding." Madison is wearing a white wedding gown! However, before the service is completed, officers from a neighboring county arrest Troy for the murder of a high school friend. At first glance, the evidence at the scene (Troy's gun and the deceased's journal claiming Troy raped and murdered a girl in high school) seems all that's needed for an open and shut case; however, Madison and his sister (the Police Chief) know that he is innocent. It is up to them to find the evidence to clear his name because the detectives of the other department have decided he's guilty and are not doing a thorough investigation. When the newly released convicted felon for the high school rape and murder is found dead, again the evidence points to Troy. Now Madison and her partner, Terry, must not only find the evidence to clear Troy but also stop the murderer before it's too late. It's an exciting read. My only wish is that it would have been longer because I didn't want it to end!

Lucky number 13. About time I discovered this series. An engaging and convoluted murder mystery. It kept me turning the pages. Obviously, I have 12 books to read now. This is easily read as a standalone, but since I enjoyed getting to know Detective Madison Knight I want to read more of her adventures. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Thanks to Carolyn and NetGalley for allowing me to read Murder at the Lake before the publication date.
In the series, Det Madison Knight has experienced heartbreak and trauma.
Now her life is on track again. She recently bought the house which had belonged to her grandmother and holds good memories for Madison.
Today, she will be marrying her fiancé, Troy Matthews, in that house in front of friends and family.
Even Hershey, Madison’s labrador, has a part to play in the ceremony.

But there are two uninvited attendees when Braybury P.D. Detectives Snow and Friedman gate crash the event and arrest Troy on a charge of murder.

Excluded from the official investigation, Madison has to walk a tight rope as she works to unravel a story that started 25 years earlier, when a teenage girl was raped and murdered at an end of term beach party.

Unfortunately Troy is not helping himself when he refuses to talk about what happened.

Lots of secrets will be revealed and there are plenty of red herrings along the way to keep the reader engaged.
