This book covers all of the important topics for improving individual and workplace effectiveness and performance. Each chapter defines the topic, explains the topic with examples, has a chapter summary, chapter review questions, further reading and references. I really liked this format to help me cement the learning. The chapters cover everything from personality to motivation to power and politics. It also covers organizational structure, culture and change. What I like best about this book, is the author builds the bridge from theory to practice. This is critical for me in my role as an organizational development practitioner within a large organization. A really nice addition is a table (Table 1.2) which lays out different competencies/professional skills with the related chapters and descriptions. Skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, influencing, etc. which is helpful for non OD practitioners such as managers and leaders who are seeking additional skill knowledge and development. One of my favorite exercises was watching a favorite film and using a checklist to observe organizational behavior. A comprehensive and practical guide to individual, leadership and organizational effectiveness.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kogan Page LTD. for an ARC and I voluntarily left this review.
