This is an ARC review. Great thriller with an even better storyline. I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been a fan of Keri Beevis’ writing style for a couple years now. With this book, you get a great story woven within a psychological thriller, which draws you in from the start. TW- domestic abuse

A solid thriller!
Callie faked her death and ran from her abusive partner.
It kept me highly entertained and was a quick read.
For lovers of domestic thrillers pick this one up!

A disturbing dark and twisted psychological thriller set in Devon and Norfolk. We meet Callie Parker as she arrives at Norwich Railway Station. She carries a small bag but otherwise has nothing. At the station she is collected by Nico and driven to his farm. But Parker is not her real name and she is in fact running for her life. A well written and constructed book that was a compelling read.

Briefly, Callie has been dating actor Duncan Stone and thinks she has hit the jackpot. He’s perfect. But soon piece by piece we discover the truth about their relationship and why she is running. As desperation deepens for both Callie and her tormentor, the lives of her friends, her dogs and indeed herself are under threat.

A shocking tale of obsession, bullying and coercive behaviour, quite descriptive so be aware. A tense read where I was on the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen! A fabulous twist at the end was a complete shock. Great read.

This book felt very reminiscent to Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. but still a very different and unique book. You know a book is well written when you get angry and upset over what is happening to a character and I definitely felt that with this book. I've read multiple works by Keri Beevis and am consistently surprised by how each one delivers what I am looking for when reading a thriller.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication.

If you want a book that hooks you from the first chapter, that's full of twists, turns and complex characters then this is your author. I have read many of Keri's books and they are all excellent.

In this book we have Callie who believes she has met the man of her dreams with the charming celebrity Duncan. However her dream quickly turns in to a nightmare when his true colours are revealed. She needs to leave him, but his threats to find her and kill her make her too scared to leave until an old friend makes a sudden appearance in her life.

Can she finally leave her nightmare and live the life she deserves?

This book was difficult to read in places due to the abuse Callie suffered, but as a reader you wanted to read on with the hope she could finally be rid of Duncan and be happy. My 'one more chapter' turned in to me unable to put the book down until I finished it.

Excellent book and another well deserved 5*

A great book that has suspense and tension by the bucket load. A truly horrible man who is just vile. The story is believable with authentic characters. Fast paced and engaging throughout.

I predict that this will be one of the most read books this year.

Callie Parker cannot believe her luck when Duncan Stone, a famous celebrity, actually asks her out on a date. When he asks her to move in with him after a short space of time, she is on Cloud 9.

Duncan has a very dark side which he has kept hidden from Callie, and whilst she thought she would be living the dream, she is in fact going to be entering a nightmare world of domestic abuse. She needs to escape, but how? Duncan has her every move watched and isolated her from all her friends,

This book deserves every accolade out there. It is so well written, every move planned to perfection. How Callie escapes is a testament to this author’s imagination. The tension never slows down, her terror and dread of being found is chillingly portrayed. Not only that, I felt every emotion that she went through. My heart seemed to slow down and then stop as I feared for our heroine’s safety.

I cannot recommend this novel highly enough. It may keep you up all night, but it is worth every hour of lost sleep!

Callie Parker cannot believe her luck when former movie star Duncan Stone asks her on a date. After a whirlwind romance, he asks her to move in with him and without a second thought she agrees. Unfortunately, hindsight is 20/20. Isolated from her friends and family, she discovers that Duncan is no Prince Charming and realizes that she needs to escape him.

While this book did not necessarily bring anything new to the psychological/domestic thriller genre, I can easily say it was a page-turner that engaged me from start to finish. I could feel the tension ramping up as the book progressed, often making me uneasy, waiting for something bad to happen. The gaslighting and cruelty Callie endured made me so angry. Keri Beevis did a great job writing Callie’s wavering emotions making it easy for me understand her mindset.

There is another mystery within the story that I thought I had figured out, but as it turns out, I had it all wrong. Keri Beevis is a new-to-me author, but I will definitely be checking out her backlog of books after enjoying this one.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Pub date: 4/2/24.

I thought I had read books by Keri Beevis before but when I looked at my Goodreads profile, I have not so I look forward to reading more by her. This was a suspenseful page turner that I could not put down and kept me way up too late reading into the night. Duncan Stone drove me crazy because of his narcissistic ways. I see I am in the minority with my 3 stars but I didn’t find it over the top like I do when I rate 4-5 star books. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published April 2, 2024.

**Alert** There is quite a bit of both physical and mental abuse mentioned in this story.

A classic tale of coercion and bullying in the story with a murder too which is well written and very descriptive and although this may not be to everyone's taste, highlights what happens to many women and men who are in an abusive relationship - reality is at times harsher than fiction. There is a great twist towards the end which I didn't see coming and added an extra layer to the plot. Really enjoyed reading this book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for the ARC to review.

This is the 22 book I have read this year and it’s the best one I have read so far.

It highlights domestic abuse which could be a trigger for a lot of people but it also highlights the fact that “well known, nice people” can be monsters in disguise.

Super tense and chilling! Callie’s friends and family are really impressed and a bit in awe when she bags herself a celebrity boyfriend and on the surface, her life with Duncan looks idyllic. The reality couldn’t be more different and Duncan’s controlling behaviour gave me chills. Callie knows that she needs to escape, but Duncan is always one step ahead of her and she can’t see a way out.

A tense and thrilling, fast-paced game of cat and mouse ensues, and Callie has to really question who she can trust, hoping that she isn’t about to put her faith in the wrong person.

Absolutely brilliant and a fabulous conclusion - I love a good dose of karma.

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Keri Beevis and Boldwood for an ARC in return for an honest review.

A domestic thriller full of twists. I love these type of books but always feel so frightened for the FMC's stuck in these types of situations. This one is especially frightening considering Duncan is a very handsome, charismatic celebrity. Like who would believe her that he is not like that at home? I was completely engrossed in this story and I am happy with the ending. I did get some "Sleeping With The Enemy" vibes from this book. but that was great since I love that movie.

Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Keri Beevis for a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
