I was not familiar with classic American tales so this book got me curious. Not bad at all, but maybe not my cup of tea.

I got this because I love Sleepy Hollow
this book is and isn't what I expected/wanted out of the description
its not the book, it's me

The book as a meal: Stale and chewy jerky
The book left me: Sleepy

Why did this call out to me?
It looked interesting from the title and the description, so I thought I should give it a go

Pick-up-able? Put-down-able?
Put-down-able. The writing style is like a slow walk. There is basically nothing happening, but it just keeps on going

Issues:
Barely anything happens in the plot
Could not vibe with the writing style

Good things:
Had an interesting concept

How did it feel to read?
It felt like a slow walk, or like looking at paint dry and expecting a new color to pop up. It was very simply put, boring.

Where does this fall in my tier list ranking?
This goes down into D tier, it is not for me, and sadly I did not enjoy it

Favorite story:
A Purloined Tale

I really enjoyed the original legend of sleepy hollow so I was excited to read this collection of stories. Each one tied in perfectly with the original tale. I enjoyed how good everything was and that it had what I was looking for. I enjoyed the way Susan Lohafer wrote this and it left me wanting to read more like this.

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow is one of my all time favorite legends. I've been obsessed with the story ever since I was a child and saw Disney's interpretation of it with Ichabod Crane. I really enjoyed these short stories and other stories I had not heard of before. If you are at all interested in colonial history or legends I would highly recommend this book.

This is fun because it takes some classic stories I really like and then creates totally different stories in the same world. Each starts with an introduction, followed by a brand new adaptation. Is adaptation even the right word? Because the stories are written in such a way that they could really have happened in that world. I love classics, and this was a fun collection. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

THE BELLE OF SLEEPY HOLLOW by Susan Lohafer is a collection of nine classic stories, but considerately rewritten and reimagined, expanding on the original story and in most cases, enhancing it

Eadh story is prefaced with an overview of the original author and story, which frames the new tale beautifully. This is a delightful read if you enjoy classic literature

Thank you to Netgalley, Aubade Publishing, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles and the author Susan Lohafer for this fascinating ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own
