This was a decent and fast paced thriller. It was a little too young adult for me I tbh n J would've loved the relationships better if it was an adult fiction. Love that I didn't guess the killer

First audio book I could actually follow so far.

Love this murder mystery novel and I’d say it’s a YA murder mystery.

All the High school drama with murder!!

Absolutely amazing story narrated to perfection. Full of twists and turns, Red herrings and surprises. There were some repetitive phrases that I guess is probably just something the writer relies on, but it can be a bit inducing when you raise the same phrase more than a handful of times. All in all, I absolutely adored the story I adored the pacing. I would make sure it was placed somewhere that this book is definitely for a high school level library or section. It is not something I would buy for middle schoolers.

For readers who liked A Good Girl's Guide to Murder or One of Us is Lying, this was such a pretty good YA murder mystery, revolving around a group of friends from a small town. Heard the audiobook and it was great, narrators were awesome, and I liked that the FMC came in with her own dark past hanging over her head as she navigated through all her new friend’s murdered friends mystery, all while dating the suspected murder suspect. This story had so many twists and reveals and it worked well because the plot twist was epic. I highly recommend

Really 2.25 - 2.5 stars. The audio editing of this book is very bad, I almost DNFed this because it was so confusing. I think there were supposed to be breaks in some chapters to switch scenes, but half the time the audio would jarringly start the second the last sentence ended, and we would be in a different place with different people with no pause? I don't know how best to describe it, but it made me want to quit very early on. I'd rather not give a star rating for that reason, but also I just didn't vibe with this story. These kids kept jumping to conclusions so fast that by the time the actual murderer was revealed, it was like "Well, who else was left for them to wrongly accuse anyway?"

It was a good listen, but average. Nothing in the book that made me feel like I need to tell people about it. It's a book that if someone ask about it I will say, yeah it was good, but I won't be screaming praises.

This was a quick and enjoyable read for those that like YA mystery and suspense novels! Although the ending was predictable, the story line and characters kept me interested throughout the whole book!

4.5 stars.

I was a very, very good kid. My parents have no idea how lucky they are. This was a wild story. The fact that these kids were doing this stuff when they were 14/15 blows my mind. Also, I kind of guessed who the bad guy was; there's just no way they were THAT nice. I'm also very glad the reason they moved wasn't left open in the end, but I wasn't expecting the cause of the fire to be what it was.

I was initially attracted to this book because the FMC was a soccer player and that was my high school experience so it sounded like a good fit. It was a typical YA Mystery Thriller that I enjoyed from start to finish. The twist though absolutely blew me away. I did not see that coming at all. Definitely a well done mystery story.

Well, I think it's safe to say that I don't really enjoy YA mystery/thrillers. I don't think it's just this one, I think they're just not my cuppa.

This book started out engaging enough but somewhere around the middle I started to lose interest and my mind drifted off. I then just started speeding through to get to the conclusion.

I didn't like any of these characters at all and had a hard time believing that they were actually teenagers.

The book isn't necessarily bad but it really left no impression on me either.

I'm really starting to like YA thrillers even more after listening to this one. It had me suspecting that just about everyone in the story was guilty of murder up until the end. It was especially great with the once again excellent narration by Helen Laser. This would be a great summer read/listen for anyone who's looking for a good mystery.

Mundy's writing style is competent, but the story fails to break new ground or offer fresh insights into the genre. For readers seeking a standard teen mystery fix, "The One That Got Away with Murder" may suffice, but those craving innovation or originality may find it lacking.

The One that Got Away with Murder was a truly twisty ya mystery thriller that kept me guessing right up until the very end. I had my suspicions but still ended up surprised with the final reveal. Lauren was a complex and overall relatable teenager with some trauma in her recent past, who quickly found herself right in the middle of a murder mystery after moving to her new home with her mother.

Given her recent trauma, and the fact that teens were winding up dead, I was repeatedly frustrated by some of Lauren’s mother’s decisions, but for a variety of reasons that just made Lauren all the more relatable.

If you’re in the mood for a gripping murder mystery with a side of high school dynamics, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Helen Laser and Joshua Quinn did an excellent job narrating the audiobook.

What a wild debut! I binged this one in less than 24 hours! It was great on audio, so I recommend if you are an audio lover like me! The narrators did a great job bringing the characters and story to life! I couldn’t stop listening, I had to know what was going to happen! I was messaging @trishlundy while reading about my suspicions and ended up being right! I love engaging with authors and readers on bookstagram! It makes reading the books even more fun! Fans of Jessica Goodman and Holly Jackson will really enjoy this one! TOTGAWM is a great bingeable YA thriller and I think a lot of people will love it! The cover and title are amazing too!

Lauren and her mother moved away from California to start a new life in Pennsylvania, only to find themselves in more danger. Lauren doesn’t care for the man her mother is engaged to, and she likes his daughter even less. At school, Lauren befriends the Crestmont brothers,Robbie and Trevor. The brothers are social pariahs at school because both of their girlfriends died under suspicious circumstances. Lauren is in a relationship with Robbie and soon she starts questioning whether he is innocent, especially after she finds something from the night his ex-girlfriend died. Soon Lauren will look into what happened to the two girls and discover that danger is closer than she thought.
This was an entertaining story. The twist was done well and several people who could have been the killer were introduced and it did keep you guessing who was the killer throughout the story. I liked the was Lauren reconciled her past at the end of her story so she could have forgiveness and heal. The audio book was well read and enjoyable.

Quite possibly the first audiobook this year that kept me guessing the up until a good 60-75% and seriously surprised me in the end!!

Lauren O'Brian has moved across the country from California to Happy Valley, Pennsylvania for her senior year. Because, she's had problems in California. Her mother thinks it's best and besides, her mom has met someone online she's falling for. Lauren volunteers at the facility where her mother is a nurse and meets Robbie Crestmont, local bad boy, whose family has more than one connection to murders in town. Murders of teenage girls.

Lauren and Robbie hit it off, and then Lauren learns of Robbie's dead girlfriend, and his brother's dead girlfriend. Visiting their lake house, Lauren finds evidence that may incriminate someone in the Crestmont family. She's frightened but determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. She, Robbie, and another friend or two work together, putting themselves in danger along the way.

The book had some interesting twists but the 'big reveal' of the killer didn't seem to fit well with the rest of the story. Still, teens who enjoy books by Holly Jackson or April Henry will enjoy this one. Narrated by actors Helen Laser and the new-to-narrating Joshua Quinn, young adults will enjoy the drama of this debut novel by Lundy.

This book was crazy good! It was twist after twist and every time I thought I had it figured out, I realized I didn't!

This book was… meh. I just couldn’t connect with the characters and the story wasn’t anything memorable and I got so bored.
The way the book was written definitely made me wanna keep reading because Lauren’s (fmc) past kept being mentioned without really giving answers until the end and I was too curious to dnf this (and I would’ve). There were lots of twist and turn and creepy mysteries.

“I will never forget the sounds of Clint’s screams. I’ve never heard him sound like that. I’ve never heard a human being sound like that. I will never forget that sound”

Lauren was a very fun mc to read about. She’s so sassy and isn’t scared to insult people when necessary. I love that Lauren is solving a mystery while we, the readers, are uncovering hers (and I loved the little investigation gang that was formed 😆)

I love the sabatoge hehe. It added more to the story.
Mara’s speech made me tear up and her character development was so good.
The characters are honestly very confusing. I could never remember who was who, but maybe that was my fault 😅

Honestly I guessed the ending and all the theories mentioned in the book, I had. And the ending kinda underwhelming…

Overall this was an ok book. The ending was kinda underwhelming, but the build up was investing. I’m probably gonna forget about it but it was a fun read while I was biking to school.
