Goth Moth is a cool representation of the "Goth" subculture for kids, and I loved how it incorporated the Jitterbug character. Highly recommend!

I went into this knowing very little but as I mentioned in my last review, I'm wanting to get into more Children's Fiction and this cover caught my eye, it's about a Goth Moth who wants to be a drummer and I think it's fun to go in knowing very little else about this one. I loved it, the art style was adorable and the story was really sweet, about not needing to fit in to be accepted, how it's okay to be different.

I was sent this e-Arc on Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Absolutely adorable with fantastic illustrations. A story that shows you it’s good to be unique and march to the beat of your drum.

Thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for allowing me to read this arc.

3.5 stars. I picked this up because I work with underappreciated pollinators, so I was excited to see a story about a moth! This book is not about moths, it’s instead about a moth who loves playing drums but has no one around him who shares or values his passion. The book’s rhyming is okay, some rhymes are stronger than others, but it is catchy enough for a young learner. I’m really curious about how you translate rhymes from one language to another, I think you can tell there’s some awkwardness there. The message or lesson is the hardest part to wrap my head around. I *think* the author is trying to make a point about being brave when things are scary can garner great reward like new friends and rewarding experiences, but I wish there was some explicit closing of this, especially because the moth is still alone at the end. Beautiful illustrations though.

Rock music, especially metal, is not as popular in the US the way it used to be so I wasn’t surprised to see the authors of this book are European. I loved the cute story about a rocking little moth who loves to drum. The artwork was beautiful. This was a fun book I’d buy for a kid who loves music.

I loved Goth Moth! The illustrations are so cute and it's very poetic! The messages include doing things even if they scare you and being yourself even if others don't approve. I think teaching kids that they are allowed to have passions even if not everyone gets it is so important.

Hmmm not sure I understand this one. Good for the moth that he was able to face his fears but the overall vibe of the story feels very lonely. He doesn’t have friends and then he’s famous and suddenly does? Or is he still alone? I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

4.5*

Goth Moth is adorable! The illustrations are beautiful and the story is really sweet. The rhyming of the words aren't perfect, but it's still really well written. The message teaches kids about being yourself and not letting others influence what you're passionate about.

As soon as j saw the cover to this book I knew I had to read it. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous! Although the German newspaper background was a little distracting and I could see young readers asking about what it says. The copy of the story is decently written, some parts the author loses the beat of the poem they have written, but usually can easily be fixed with shortening words or using contractions.

I ADORED this title. The illustrations were divine. The story is precious and I can't wait to purchase it. There's something special to be said for being yourself and kiddos need to learn that young. I loved it!

Sweet, fun story. Love the illustrations. Kids and their grown ups will enjoy. Acts as a sequel to Jitterbug but can read alone - provides context!

Goth Moth is wonderfully engaging.. Children will love the rhyming of this book. Goth Moth is just as enjoyable for adults as for children. Rock on Goth Moth!

In this amusing picture book, Kai Lüftner, German children’s author, musician and director, has penned the story of Walter, a bug who envisions himself as Goth Moth, a hip rock-and-roll drummer who pines after Jitterbug, a famous rock-and-roller. When he goes to see her in concert in the daytime (how daring!), Walter has a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Loved it!

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and North South Books in exchange for an honest review.

The illustrations in this book are beyond amazing. The story is about a moth who wants to be a drummer and has an idol rocker. In the end, he ends up playing with her, and even though it wasn't the best the moth was still so proud. This book is very short and sometimes I feel it doesn't flow perfectly but as a whole, it is a cute book.

A darling and very sweet children's book about being afraid to step into the limelight and try something new. The story follows Walter, a shy goth moth who usually hides away and dreams about being a drummer. Can he find the courage to seize his dreams and play with his idol, Jitterbug? This was so cute and sweet. The artwork is cute and I had fun reading this.

5 stars!!

I'm a teacher and I see so much potential for this book. Poetry is something that is so difficult for students to grasp (plus they think it's boring), but this would be such an amazing book for a lesson. The illustrations were so calming and adorable too. I fell in love with Goth Moth from the cover, and I know 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders (even moody 6th graders) would find this book such a delight! They LOVE throwing out words like "goth" and "emo" on a daily basis, so this book would 100% resonate with them. I will 100% be buying this for my classroom library!!!

This was so cute. I loved the hairstyles on all of the insects and how Goth Moth made his dream happen despite everyone around him trying to make him feel bad. He went for it and got what he wanted! He wasn’t shy to get up on that stage and do what he loved, which is a great lesson for children.

Walter Moth is my new favorite insect!
A drummer, a rocker, an original who thinks outside of the box (nighttime) to follow his dreams.
I can't wait to share this with every misfit kid, everyone "different" or "weird" who needs to find their fellow bugs.

I was very excited for the idea of this book (as I have a lot of goth friends with kids and would love more books that I can gift them). Overall this was cute but the flow of the plot felt like it was missing something. could've been a bit longer to have a better flow.
