My favorite book by A.R. Torre!
I love all her books that I've read so far, but The Last Party was just brilliant.
It is full of twists and dark lies that will have you invested. I ate this book up and highly recommend you go read it. You will not be disappointed.
I loved how it had multiple POVs, short chapters, and so much juicy drama!

What a wild ride.

Affluent housewife Perla is obsessed with the Folcrom Party murders, a birthday party massacre that occurred a few decades prior. She has a wild obsession with the convicted killer. And she has a plan.

This was crazy all the way through. I haven’t completely torn through a thriller the way I did this one in a long time. I was hooked reading Perla’s narration and learning about her psyche. Lee was just as interesting to hear from and I didn’t see a lot of things coming.

The ending was slightly anticlimactic for me, but still really satisfying.

The book is pretty gruesome but had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. 4.5 stars from me, highly recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I was sooo excited to see an A. R. Torre book on NetGalley so I obviously had to snatch it up immediately, and boy did it deliver!!

What we know:

One man sits in prison for the last 2 decades for going on a murder spree during his daughter’s 12th birthday sleepover. He claims innocence and yet there were no signs of an intruder and all evidence points to him.

One woman sits pretty in her lavish home of the rich an elite, with her doting “can do no wrong husband” and her “mature for her years” intelligent teenage daughter. Under the surface she has a secret obsession with the aforementioned murderer.

Someone’s telling lies but their motives are unclear! This one had me gripped to the pages I couldn’t believe what I was reading, I was completely raptured into the plot waiting to see the fallout when it all blew to pieces.

Fast paced, addictive, interesting, and that ending! highly recommend!

Thank you to A. R. Torre, Thomas and Mercer and NetGalley for the EARC!

Damn this book was good. In the beginning I was like I don’t know about this , it seemed like it was going in a weird direction but my gosh I’m so glad I stuck through it because it was not at all what I thought it was going to be about. The twists were perfect , I had suspected something would tie in with the past timeline but it was a good reveal. Love the ending too, the last chapter of Sophie’s POV. Highly recommended! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

This could be an episode of who TF did I marry :D

I skipped sleep to finish this psychological thriller cause it was just impossible to put it down and I have NO regrets.

I loved, loved, loved this book, it had everything and I mean EVERYTHING I love in a thriller and Perla, dear Perla, I had a blast being in your twisted mind so thank you for the wild ride xoxo.

This book gave me “gone girl” vibes in the best way possible, l just couldn’t help but imagine that, in some alternate reality, Perla and Amy could be related and will most definitely end up plotting each other’s demise.

If you love thrillers, this one is for YOU!

Another crazy, twisted, psychological thriller from this Author!
This book was definitely very DARK and went into the mind of a narcissistic sociopath. It made the book extremely hard to put down. This character might be one of the most sinister evil characters I’ve encountered in a long time!
We start out by hearing about the brutal murder of young girls at a child’s birthday party and the killer , Leewood Folcrom, who is serving a life sentence.

We are following the family of Perla (Mom, wife), Grant (Husband, Father), and their daughter Sophie. They seem to have the modern day family that has it all and we all think lives the perfect life, but come on … is that ever really the case ?? The secrets start popping up, the dark connections come into the light, and when the truth becomes apparent it leaves you shocked and satisfied all at the same time. I will say I guessed some of the twists, but it didn’t stop me from reading on.

This author has done it again and I will continue to read everything she puts out!

Thank you to the Author, Netgalley, and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC !

Wow! This is a wild ride! I don’t want to give a lot away, but right off the bat you know you are dealing with a psychopath. I really like the back and forth narrative, and you think you know what’s going on, but then you realize you really don’t. The story unfolds at a great pace, and it’s a great quick read. I’ve read the author’s other books and look forward to more.

The Last Party was more of a domestic thriller than a twisty thriller. It tells the story from multiple perspectives about an affluent family and a murderer who has been behind bars for 23 years. The book surprises you many times while reading and keeps you reading chapter after chapter.

This was one of the best reads of 2024. I was hooked from the first page. Something about this book has me invested until the end. Although I had an idea what was going to happen it did not disappoint. Leewood, Perla and Grant were amazing characters and the storyline was *chefs kiss*

I absolutely loved this book. It’s twisted and depraved. I thought I knew what was going to happen, and I was mind blown with the twists and turns 🤯 if I didn’t have kids or responsibilities, I would have read this in one sitting. This is one of my favorite reads of this year so far. Couldn’t recommend more 🙌🏻

Well, this was quite a read! Perla is married to Grant, and they have an 11-year-old daughter, Sophie. Perla inherited quite a bit of money from her parents, and they live a charmed life in Pasadena. But behind Perla’s perfect façade lies a devious mind. She dreams about starting over, but not in the usual way. Pearla thinks about how much notoriety murder might bring her. Perhaps a scenario eerily similar to The Folcrum Murders that happened so many years ago. She seems rather obsessed with the man, Leewood Folcrum, the man convicted of the heinous crime. He spends his days now slowly rotting away in prison. Why would he have killed these girls, and will he ever share his reasons? Grant seems obsessed with this old crime too. What is he hiding? What is Perla hiding? Heck, how much is Sophie hiding?
This book just kept me flipping pages to see how the plot lines would come together. Perla was some character, not someone I’d want for a neighbor.

I was hooked immediately by Perla Wultz and her unhinged personality. I found her to be such a fascinating character. Her daughter was also quite fascinating and I wish there had been more of her. I devoured this book in two days, which is not typical for me. I loved how fast paced and clever it was. The plot twists were somewhat easy to guess but that didn't affect my enjoyment of the story at all.

Another 5 star read by A.R. Torre! This might be her best thriller yet. Torre's characters are so thought out and so twisted. You're sucked into the story within the first pages. I appreciate the chance to read and review this ARC and look forward to reading even more of Torre's work in the future.

This was fun, I've had a hit or miss time with A.R. Torre in the past. I loved the Good Lie, but nothing really met that for me. This is definitely a close runner up. Twisty and turny without being too deep.

What a warped and fascinating novel! Perla Wultz lives with her husband, Grant, and daughter, Sophie. They are well off, living in an affluent community, but that wasn't how Perla grew up. She continues to hide the dark secrets from her past.

As the story goes on, we see Perla obsessed with a crime spanning over two decades ago, where Leewood Folcrum confessed to murdering two young girls during a birthday party. He has been condemned to life but is now opening up more to an interviewer about the crimes. As the past and present intersect, the author weaves a clever, twisted story that had me flying through the pages.
Such an addictive read and another one I recommend.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for this gifted review copy.

Many thanks to @thrillerbookloversthepulse for having me on this tour!

WOW! My girl is back! A.R. Torre never disappoints with her thrillers—and 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 is absolutely no exception!

This was insanely good; diabolical and chilling in all the right ways! Unlikeable characters, dual first-person POVs, ominous interview excerpts, and obsessive fan mail to a killer. What more could you ask for?

Torre is at the top of her game with this dark and sinister masterpiece! It’s so binge-worthy you won’t be able to put it down once you start—and the character development…absolutely brilliant. 👌🏼This one’s going on my best of 2024 list!

Additional thanks to @netgalley and Thomas & Mercer!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

All I have to say is wow: what tightly woven plot with twists and turns all throughout. No one is trustworthy; they're all hiding secrets, and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the novel. I also really appreciate a mystery/thriller where I didn't see what the reveal was until the author wanted me to, but then thinking back I could see the breadcrumbs that were dropped that made the reveal inevitable while still surprising.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Chef's Kiss

This is my first A.R. Torre novel and you my dear just gained a new fan .

I've said it before , but it's books like this that ignite my reading passion.

The Last Party is a cleverly well written addictive psychological thriller .

I loved how Torre patiently planted little breadcrumbs through out the story for us to munch on to keeping you satisfied every turning page.

"Maybe we're all just psychopaths waiting for our trigger. Or maybe you killed earlier in life and no one ever caught you."

"Sometimes it's not the people that change. It's the mask that falls off"

A loving mother. A notorious murderer . They both have reasons to hide their secrets.

Without giving too much away The Last Party, is edgy , dark, suspenseful , gripping , dark humor, and shocking! It's everything you want and expect in a thriller novel!

Set with multiple POV's we follow the life of Perla Wultz and her family Grant and brilliant daughter Sophie . While Grant rarely talks of his past of his sisters death many years ago, Perla also does not disclose much of her past before her adoption.

When we are not reading about the Wultz family we are following Leewood Folcrum Inmate 82145 and Leewood doesn't have much to say about what happened to those 3 teenage girls 23 years ago , but it was a blood massacre and didn't end well for many.

If you love unhinged psychopathic characters , crazy plot twists and fast paced thrillers then is is a book for you and I promise you , you will be gasping multiple times . This unputdownable book will be in my top 10 for 2024 , at one point my husband said to me " that book must be really good you haven't moved a muscle in 2 hours "!!

I thank you Netgalley , Thomas & Mercer and A.R. Torre for this riveting digital ARC I feel honored I was gifted this advanced copy !!

The Last Party shows once again why A.R. Torre is one of my favorite thriller authors. This book was addictive. I wish life wouldn't have gotten in the way and I could have read it in one day because I didn't want to put it down.

Perla was unhinged. The more I got to know her, the more disturbed I was. Her relationship with her husband and daughter fascinated me. As things started to happen and the drama played out, I felt like I was driving by a car wreck: I wanted to cover my eyes but couldn't look away. Everything was so messy. And just when I thought I knew everything that was going to happen, Torre managed to surprise me. I should have known she would do that; she always does.

If you enjoy fast paced, unhinged thrillers with short chapters, multiple POV, and twisty plots, The Last Party is for you.
