Pearl having joined the WAAF to do ‘her bit’ finds herself running a newspaper which is helping morale at the bases as well as planning her own wedding. With some help from her maid of honour, Jenny and Pear’s sister Thea, they are going to make this the best wedding in wartime.

However it seems that it isn’t just the war against them, a figure from Thea’s past returns and makes trouble. Her friendship with Fitz seems to be a problem for some and all of this combined is going to threaten her sisters wedding. Surely Thea can make amends and make sure everything goes to plan.

This book really took me into the Bomber Command on the ground as well as in the air, of course the book is dominated by strong female characters, but there support to the men that risked their lives is clear amongst the pages.

I look forward to reading the next in the series and will certainly recommend this author for fans of historical sagas.

Another wonderful read and so atmospheric, the story and the girls bring this book alive for the reader and I loved it Vicki Beeby has had me hooked from start to finish.

Fantastic story with well developed characters. The family bonds are well written and believable and over all a very enjoyable book to read.

The time period was researched and the difficulties faced by the characters were put across in a way that felt credible

I nice, quick read, easily finished in an hour.

I really enjoy getting glimpses into life during WW2, the hardships and trials that people, women especially, had to face in order to survive day to day.

This story showcases the fact that life does indeed go on, even during a war.

When Pearl Cooper and Greg Tallis are arranging their wedding, Pearl decides to have Jenny Hazleton as her maid of honour instead of her sister Thea. This is due to Thea having been sent to Coventry by her fellow WAAF’s as they have believed stories put about by someone on campus! Thea is upset about it but can see the reasoning behind it.
Thea works as an instrument repairer on c-Charlie and d-Douglas and has built up a good working relationship with the men, this respite helps her through the dark times. So why was she surprised when one of the men decides to keep her company?
Thea decides to go of camp to help lift her spirits, this has a negative effect when she spots someone from her past! Mr Haywood, what could he possibly want, that’s for Thea to worry about.
It’s a mark of the person when Thea can put her worries aside to help Jack Knight when he announces that he say he’s going to go LMF, which is effectively put down to cowardice. It was this fact that really hit home how poor the treatment for the men was back then.
DeeDee sounds a right character. I loved some of the names Honeycroft, Piebald Pony.
My favourite character was Fitz and least favourite has to be Mr Haywood.
It was great to see how the story developed and can’t wait for the next instalment.

I relished being back with Vicki Beeby’s Bomber Girls. Reading this book was like re-joining old friends and I loved the ups and downs and ins and outs of the story.

Pearl, Thea and Jenny definitely go through the emotional ringer in this book and it brought home some realities about what life must have actually been like in the war, even planning a wedding or getting a wedding dress was not straightforward. The bomber crews must have had terrible anxieties and flashbacks and felt such relief when they had completed the required number of missions.

Vicki Beeby has such a lovely way of writing that reading is effortless and flowing. I will admit to not wanting to stop at the end of the chapters and to often sneaking off to read when I should have been doing other things. Can’t wait for the next one.

This story really got my imagination going. I got glimpses into what it could have been like on an RAF base. Family stories never got me as interested in what it was like during WW2 as A Wedding for the Bomber Girls.

I finished the story feeling giddy. The story is filled with tragedy and drama. The author put many of the characters through the wringer. I couldn't wait to see what they would get into next. The story got my imagination going.

When I started reading the story everything that I read in The Girls of Bomber Command came rushing back. I became invested in the characters lives. I was hoping Pearl would make it to the alter. I would have never imagined what she would have to accomplish to be able to say "I do." It was fun tagging along with her, Jenny and Thea while they went in search of a dress. After all rationing made getting a dress almost impossible.

Pearl and Thea are still having issues. You gotta love family dynamics. Thea is maturing but there are those that just won't let it happen. Thea's issues with the other girls made for interesting reading. I could only hope things would calm down. I felt so sorry for Thea but at the same time she could be so irritating. It was her dedication to her job that completely won me over.

Thea's romance with Fitz didn't hurt either. Experiencing young love left me all warm and fuzzy. Thea may not have got along with the girls, but she was well respected along the pilots and crews. Thea had a lot going on, creating some suspense.

I wasn't sure how it would all end up. It was war, not everyone could have a happily ever after. Bomber missions had me on edge. No wonder those that flew were stressed. The danger felt so real. I would have been kissing the ground every time I could disembark.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Having enjoyed the first in this series, I was pleased my request for its sequel was granted. This was an enjoyable and engaging read and it was good learning more about Thea, while still seeing the cast from the first book. I'm looking forward to reading subsequent installments and am now working through Beeby's back catalogue.

Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion

I had read the first book in the series and while it would be possible to read this one as a stand-alone one would get better context by reading the other book.

This one centres around Thea - Pearl's sister. I won't provide spoilers by revealing their true given names = but I bet it was fun thinking them up
It explains why she joined the WAAF when she did and why she tries to ruin every relationship she ever had by her actions.
The character you love to hate is an integral part of this story and you wait for his comeuppance.

Its a well written and researched book about the lives of the Bomber Girls and the jobs that they undertook keeping the Air bases working as best they could.
Its also a tale of one overbearing sister learning about her sibling while considering her own happiness. It also outlines how terribly stressful it was for the Bomber crews nearing the end of their missions and how badly some were treated when they were found 'lacking moral fibre' due to the sights, sounds and experiences they had been through.

I really enjoyed this book and hope that there will be at least one more to round off the three main characters. I think Jenny needs her day too
And maybe we can catch up with Thea and Pearl as well?

Another great catch up with the bomber girls. Thea Pearl and Jenny. Pearl is to be married and Thea want to show her sister she is responsible but after the thief being caught stealing the dead men’s possessions many of the WAAF’S still believe her to be the one who stole.
When a figure from Thea’s past shows up this spooks her and it has a lasting impact on her newly found relationship with Fitz a member of a bomber crew.
Great read and very well written and looking forward to catching up with the girls soon.

4.5 stars for this charming follow-up in the Bomber Girls series. It was fun to get Thea's perspective after having read Pearl's. While the novel has its implausible and frustrating moments, it is a feel-good novel that is well-written and well-researched. I especially enjoyed seeing Thea's growth as a character - and Pearl's! - as they grew closer as sisters. Beeby also draws attention to the mental health of WAAFers and bomber pilots. This was a thoughtful and enjoyable read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the free eARC. I post this review with my honest opinions. This review is cross-posted on Goodreads, and will be posted on Amazon and Instagram upon the book's publication.

The second in this series and yes it is as good as the first one. We come back to the sisters and friends as they plan a wedding plus their lives as they work as Bomber girls. Great to be back with them all and can't wait for the next book to arrive. 5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for this ARC

I fell in love with the first book, The Girls of Bomber Command and rapidly grew to like Thea, Pearl and Jenny. They are a fab little trio and seeing them develop from the first book was great.

You can hop straight into this one without reading the prior but I would recommend it to get a better feel for the characters. I love these girls and was rooting for them from the get go.

This one, focusing on Thea, is finding her own feet away from Pearl, her older sister’s overbearing but loving nature. The two are beginning to reconcile their differences however Thea remains with a stubborn streak and battles asking for the help and advice she really needs. She meets Fitz, a rather dashing RAF but as she navigates uncertain waters, old faces from her past rears an ugly head..

It was a great and compelling story and one that had me flicking through the pages in frustration and excitement. It really was an excruciatingly amazing read and I can’t wait for the next one. I think Jenny has more to her story to come!

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I enjoyed reading book.

The story is mainly about Thea, and it felt like catching up with old friends.

The story gives you an insight of what the Bromber crew did affected their life, and what they did in order to finish their assignments.

I felt Jack’s story portrayed how some pilots still carry the experiences of what they saw whilst on “tour”.

I also felt that reading about Thea and her past helped understand her reasons for joining the Forces.

I recommend this book.
