I loved Scarlest character and spirit. Her obsession with Della was a bit over the top, but the author explained why very well. I can't imagine what Scarlett went through and how it changed her. but she always had her painting. I wasn't fond of Dawson the cop he carried slot of baggage which kinda explained how he acted. I enjoyed how she told the story from different viewpoints. This book was a great murder mystery but a bit predictable. But overall it was a good story. I appreciate Netgalley and Montana publishing company.

Ten years ago, Scarlett was abducted and kept in a basement for 88 days alongside another girl, Della, who was never found. Scarlett has rebuilt her life but has kept her secrets hidden, including what she had to do in order to survive the ordeal.

Nobody except Scarlett believes that Della ever existed - including Detective Kevin Dawson, who killed her captor and rescued her initially. But Scarlett still feels as if Della is around every corner, and, since the discovery of a girl's body tied to her captor, she starts seeing Della everywhere. Is Della real? Why has everything started surfacing again after ten years? And will Scarlett ever be able to move on?

Burton writes a fast-paced thriller with generally well-written characters who are complex people and this tale is dark, be warned. But it's gripping and engaging right to the end.

Trigger warning: sexual assault

Scarlett was kidnapped and held captive for 88 days, where she suffered unspeakable abuse. Now 10 years have passed since her rescue and Scarlett is still working to get her life back on track. Though no evidence was ever found, Scarlett is convinced that there was another girl with her in captivity - & she has been seeing her on the street, in coffee shops & now as a police officer. No one seems to believe her and we are left to consider - is it just Scarlett’s broken mind, or does this woman truly exist?

I went into this one a bit blind, having never read anything by this author before. I definitely advise you check the triggers before reading, however that being said, the author weaves an intensely gripping story surrounding it all. I was so deeply immersed into the story - the twists, turns and final reveal had me on the edge of my seat!

If suspenseful thrillers are your thing, I definitely recommend this one!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book first! All thoughts are my own.

Burton broke my heart into a million pieces and then slowly put the pieces back together again as I followed Scarlett and Dawson’s journey. And, with Another Girl Lost, Mary Burton has cemented her status as an auto-buy author for me.

This is a dark, twisted and deceiving thriller. The characters were intriguing but not trustworthy or likeable. I like the Author’s books. This book was a little predictable maybe because of the synopsis. But the book has strange manipulative/deceiving psychological truth that makes it hard to trust anyone.

Scarlett Crosby was deceived by Della and then Della abducted her. So many unthinkable and horrendous things happened with her. All she was trying to do is escape from the dark place that held her captive but the truth was so dark, twisted and deadly. She escaped but the past memories are not letting her move forward and the mysteries from the past grips her. She became the victim and predator is dead but what about the person who got her into this messy world. As more girls became victim in the past, the investigation is going on but Scarlett has no evidence to prove everything that has happened with her.

Thanks to the Author and Publisher.

A fascinating and dark premise makes for a clever plot line. Different perspectives and time lines make for gripping reading, while the descriptions of the crimes themselves will leave you terrified.

A decade after a traumatic experience which involved her ordeal alongside another girl at the hands of a predator, Scarlett has rebuilt her life to become a sought after artist. But what she had to do to survive and to escape him remains a shameful secret, known only to the other two people who witnessed it - one of them the girl who initially lured her into the monster's clutches.

Having never found proof of Scarlett's claims about the other girl, Della, no one - including the police detective, Kevin Dawson - is entirely sure that she even exists.

And with their captor dead, perhaps it is time for Scarlett to leave all this in the past. Except that unlike Detective Dawson, Scarlett feels that she sees Della lurking in her immediate surroundings too often for comfort.

And now, on top of everything else, the discovery of another girl's body in a place associated with Scarlett's captor means that the whole can of worms is being opened up again...

This is a dark and gripping read, not for the faint hearted. It comes with a trigger warning for sexual abuse and violence. Burton's characters are well drawn and she quickly pulls you into her narrative. It gets 3.5 stars.

I have been in a book slump lately. This book grabbed me by the seat of pants and did not let go.

This book does have many trigger warnings. I do think the author handled them as sensitively as she could. I was very intrigued by the characters in this book. I also appreciated that the focus was on the survivors Scarlett and Della. If you are looking for a book to sink your teeth into I highly recommend Another Girl Lost. Thank you to Mary Burton, Montlake, and Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

A dark premise, we follow Scarlett both in the past when held captive and ten years later as well as Det Dawson who was part of the initial investigation and a new one based on a newly found body. A well told story woven between two times and two characters, this was a satisfying afternoon read.

Trigger warning - sexual violence

Scarlett Crosby was kidnapped and held for eighty-eight days, she was not the only girl being held.
Now 10 years have passed since her rescue by the police and Scarlett continues to put her life back together.
She is an artist and obsessed with the girl that lured her into the hands of the monster. Now she thinks she’s seeing her on the street, in coffee shops and she has identified her as a police officer. But is it really her, just her imagination or did this girl ever really exist?
These questions drive her just as a body is found wrapped inside a wall where her kidnapper lived.
This is a well written story about a difficult subject but Ms. Burton handled it with ease.

Thank you #NetGalley #Montlake #AnotherGirlLost for this ARC
