Charlotte has been having a difficult time in life, but her luck is changing. She sees Zach, her ex-fiance's brother, and sparks begin to fly.

I thought this was a cutesy book that was enjoyable to read.

Many thanks to Net Galley and RB Media for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first Christian romance!! I was nervous to review this book because my relationship with religion is very specific. I’ll preface by saying that I believe in God and usually keep my relationship with religion private. I do not identify with aspects of Christianity that use the Bible to spread hate.

I was so so so relieved to see that this book had one main character who was religious, but that religiousness was based around having faith, believing in miracles, and just a general loving relationship with a higher power (in this case it was God). The other main character doesn’t have a relationship with God, but is respectful towards religion. No spice whatsoever in this book, but I expected that, so that doesn’t hurt the review. :) They both struggle with their faith in some capacity. I think this was the perfect blend of what I expected a Christian romance to be. Based around religion, but the book itself wasn’t religious and had its own plot!! And no hateful bigotry! The first mention of God wasn’t until about 40% in.

Alright, plot things! As a school psych, this book had quite the intro that I think would make anyone in education chuckle. My job at the AEA is currently on the chopping block, so I understand the need to try to figure it all out. This book came to me at the perfect time. Someone find me a tandem bike!! The humor in this book is very reminiscent of sitcom humor. Cheesy, but not cringey.

As an Iowa transplant from Illinois, this was so fun to read! They mention the quad cities and Whities ice cream! Their adventure seems like a spin-off of Ragbrai which was so fun to read about.

This plot is juicy from the summary. Two brothers who end up each other’s exes?! Wild. Personally could never see this happening between my sisters and I, but more power to this family!

The last thing I have to say is, Melba Clarke is a gem and the mini storyline about her actually had me laughing out loud. The ending was unlike anything I could have predicted, so don’t think that you’ll guess the ending!

I received an Advanced Reader copy of this book in Audio format. Thought this book is told from three point of views, the main character, the other main character, and a sister, the voice actor is the same throughout. I personally like when the voice actor changes, but I still think the voice actor did a good job distinguishing who was talking. Definitely would recommend in either audiobook or ebook format. :) The narrator had a nice flow. Thank you, NetGalley!

Title: Love in Tandem By Becca Kinzer

Release Date: April,2nd 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

"Love in Tandem" by Becca Kinzer is a delightful Christian romcom that had me grinning from ear to ear. With its humor, wit, and adorable moments, this book is a heartwarming journey that left me smiling throughout.

Charlotte Carter, content with her quiet life, finds herself facing unexpected challenges when her dream job teaching music is threatened by the imminent closure of the school's music program. Determined to save it, she embarks on a 500-mile road trip on a tandem bicycle with Zach Bryant, her brother's ex-fiancé. Despite their differences, they team up to raise funds for the program. Along the way, they confront their assumptions about each other and discover unexpected connections, leading them on a journey that goes beyond just winning a cash prize.

With its quirky characters and endearing romance, this story captivated me from the opening page. Kinzer's witty prose and captivating storytelling create a feel-good experience that kept me smiling through out.

Thank you to RB Media, Becca Kinzer & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.

Kinzer's writing is a welcome breeze of sweet fresh air from start to finish in Love in Tandem! You will be hooked from the first sentence, and want to stick around for relatable Charlotte and swoon-worthy Zach. Their laugh-out-loud predicaments leading up to their tandem bike ride (and slow-burn will they won't they relationship) will leave you smiling, and you'll find yourself cheering for the side characters as well! Add in cheesecake, hometown and small-town goodness, discovering yourself while adventuring (and did I mention a huge cash prize?), and you've got yourself a feel-good romance that will leave your heart fluttering!

I picked up this book because I liked the cover, I like romcoms and Christian fiction. Audiobooks are my jam, too. The story line is really cute. The pacing is a bit slow for the first half of the book. The narrator has a nice voice and can do many parts.

Charlotte and Zack team up for a ten day random bike ride for prize money that will provide funding for her school music program. There's history there between the two and lots of comical banter. I listened to the audio of this book, and there were parts where I genuinely did crack up laughing. Now often in rom coms, people say it's laugh out loud funny, I legit thought this was. The hijinks escalating is pretty dang funny. I did find the book was a bit too long and dragged after the 80% mark and the comedy sort of fizzled. There was a side plot with the sister that I could have forgone and a character shows up at the 94% point that I had forgotten about. I just felt the story could have been tighter. Okay, so I'm not a Christian fiction reader, I just prefer not to get hammered over the head with it, so I ask myself, how Christian fiction is this? I felt this was a pretty light touch. There's mention of faith, and praying, but I didn't think it was too overboard. Maybe a very secularly oriented person might be put off, but for me, it was well balanced. Overall, a fun listen. I received an advanced copy of the audio for an honest review.

Love in Tandem is a clean light romance with likeable characters who go on a 500 mile tandem bicycle ride to raise money. This book has some charming moments, some fun moments and some moments that put a smile on my face.

Charlotte was devastated when she learned the music program at the school where she teaches music was ending. She is determined to raise money to save it. She never thought that ex-fiancé, Ben's brother, Zach would be the one to help her out on the ride. Zach is back in town to be the best man at his brother's wedding to Zach's ex-girlfriend. UGH! Talk about messy. He never thought he would run into his brother's ex-finance, Charlotte, let alone agree to go on a 500-mile tandem bicycle ride to raise money. He could use some money as well.

Romance is all about the journey for me and Charlotte and Zach go on quit the journey in this book. Both believe they know each other one, but along the way, they learn that there is more to each other than they originally thought. I enjoyed their banter, the funny situations they found themselves in, and the way they realized their assumptions about the other was wrong.

I enjoyed the writing, the humor, the characters, and the fun in this book. I had no idea that this book is considered Christian fiction/Christian Romance when I requested it. I can say that this book is not preachy or overly religious. There is one small section where there are mentions of finding faith and losing faith. Otherwise, I would classify this as a light, entertaining, fun romance book.

Romance is a journey and who doesn't love a journey when it involves a bike!

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration.

I loved this witty banter from the beginning. Becca, again has me literally laughing out loud.

The strong start of this book made me want to keep reading. I do think there could have been more talk of Jesus, if it’s going to be marketed as Christian fiction. While there are mentions of faith, it’s very broad.

I enjoyed meeting all of the characters, I didn’t really connect with them but they were a whoot.

The multiple POVs were a plus in bringing this story together.

The narrator did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life.

Loved it .

Love in Tandem is a sweet, Christian romance with a fun premise, an endearing cast of characters, and wholesome vibes. The story felt like a slow start for me, but the ending was satisfying and worth sticking with it. The audiobook narrator did a nice job expressing the characters and emotions, but I pretty much always would prefer two different narrators for a dual POV novel. I thought this book read like Kathleen Fuller, Jill Shalvis, and Debbie Macomber, so if you enjoy those authors, I think this will be right up your alley!

Thank you to RB Media for gifting me with an ALC to review! All opinions are my own.

I loved Love in Tandem so much!!! I read the book in one day! Charlotte and Zach’s story was just too cute and exciting with the perfect amount of attraction. Charlotte is a music teacher who needs money to keep her music program afloat. Zach is her ex fiancé’s brother. After some misunderstandings, they pretend to be a couple and embark on a tandem bicycle race to raise money. This book was so entertaining and hilarious! I can’t wait to read more by this author!

This was a really cute forced proximity, dual POV, kissing only Christian romance (light on the God talk), full of family drama, hijinks and great chemistry between the two MCs (two exs of their mutual siblings). Teamed up to compete in a 500 mile tandem bike ride competition for $250,000 that Charlotte hopes will save her school's music program, she and almost brother in law, Zach, have to overcome a number of obstacles in order to make it to the end of the course, finding love along the way. I enjoyed this book a lot, especially on audio. Recommended for fans of authors like Pepper Basham. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
