Read the first couple of chapters but found it very repetitive and didn't finish it, unfortunately.
It is a subject I am very interested in but this book wasn't to my taste.

For someone who doesn’t know a lot about women and gut health, I thought this was a good book for a starting point. It provides introductory information on the gut health of women and some things you can do that may improve it. I enjoyed the simplicity of the writing style throughout this book. It did not overload me with too much bulky information. I do, however, wish that it went a little bit more in depth towards the end of the book with the information they talked about. Starting the book out slow and basic was great, especially for those who don’t have a lot of background knowledge on this topic, but I do think it should have picked up the pace a little and provided more detail as the book went on.

A moderately interesting treatise on the causes of gut health, and what women can do to ameliorate gut issues and further prevent gut issues. However, this book could have used more editing— there is so much repeated material that it left me suspicious that the book was a collection of magazine articles regarding gut health.

I might recommend “Women and Gut Health” for some who is looking for an introduction to the topic: two and one half stars.

This would be a good introduction for someone on gut health
I would have liked to hear some more relevant or detailed case studies and some examples of diets or nutrition plans to alleviate the symptoms mentioned

Overall, this book was informative. It was generally easy to follow and well written. I was hoping for a little bit more resources and research, but it was great overall.

This book didn't tell me anything I don't already know. I have read many books and articles on the subject over the past five years; I have regular appointments with a gastroenterologist, and I've met with a functional medicine doctor. My husband and I both have gastro issues that we deal with. So maybe I've just overdone it with research. The thing that bothered me about this book was there was so much repetition, like the author was trying really hard to get a required word count. And adding in sentences such as listing all the different words for "poop" was just ridiculous. I get it, she was trying to make the subject more appealing, or whatever, but if you are reading a book like this, you don't want silliness.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing this epublication.

I thought this book had good introductory information about gut health. I do not think it was diverse in information. The formatting made it read like a blog style internet search then a medical book which makes it feel not trustworthy.

This book could be a good basic introduction to digestive health and awareness. However, I found it difficult to believe much of what the author stated as facts because there were no cited studies to back up the claims. Some of the advice in this book regarding IBS to be contradictory to the advice I have been given by a qualified gastroenterologist.

Given this is an entry level guide, the simple language and explanations are fitting however there was a great deal of repetition and the author even contradicted themselves.

This book is a great resource for women searching to find balance in their gut biome. It gives clear and simple explanations of bodily processes, as well as components that work for or against women's bodies. The discussion of the brain-gut connection was highly fascinating, and provides evidence of the old saying, "trust your gut'. I will recommend this book for our collection. Thank you for the good read!

Women and Gut Health by J Johnson explores the gut and it's impact on women's health. The book was informative regarding how the gut works. I would recommend it to those who are at the beginning of their journey to better understand their gut. Unfortunately, the book doesn't provide to much information on how to improve one's gut health. It's as if the author was afraid to give an medical advice. I won't find myself using this book as a resource as I continue on my own journey.

For so many women issues around gut health can be very embarassing. So too often people don't have the information about how much the gut impacts overall wellbeing. This book provides an overviw of the digestive system and the things that can impact its functioning. Myths and questions for reflection are included to help aid in understanding of your own personal gut health and the changes that you could make to maximize your health. Overall, this is a handy guide that someone could refer to anytime they begin experiencing changes.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Women and Gut Health is a short primer on digestion. I was intrigued by the title, wanting to get a unique perspective on women's health. This book has a lot of basic information and also a lot of misinformation. I would not recommend this book to anyone. It is well known that PCOS is caused by insulin resistance, not gut health. The author also contradicts herself by saying cleanses wipe out good bacteria and harm intestinal balance then goes on to share multiple success stories of women who did cleanses and then felt better.

I would skip this good and see if you can get a referral to a gastroenterologist to get some reliable information. I cannot recommend this book.
