I’m left with an assortment of emotions after finishing this book. I think the book and I are suffering from the second book slump. It just doesn’t hit the same way the first book does. Red Flags had the mystical and unique feeling of the circus that added to the overall atmosphere. White Lies was really lacking in this department. There was a lot of repetitiveness in this book and some filler scenes that weren’t necessarily needed.

Sienna acted more selfish in parts of this book than she did in the last book. But she actually has something to be selfish with – Logan. That being said, she was really willing to let all the people of the circus suffer, along with Logan, just because she was upset with how things went down. I don’t blame her for being upset, but a lot of people helped make it right. And once she found out the mastermind of the whole thing, I feel like she should’ve been more understanding of the others.

Logan was… I don’t know. He didn’t do much groveling after not believing Sienna. You could tell he was sincere and ended up protecting her the best he could, but his personality seemed off compared to Red Flags. Minus a handful of scenes, he was decidedly softer.

I liked both Maisie and Wolfgang in this book. And Cat wasn’t the worst. Alessandra though…

I did think it was a little weird how quickly Logan found Sienna in a town he knew nothing about. How did he know that’s where she’d go? She didn’t even know she was going there. And it was never explained. Sienna just falls asleep because she’s so tired. Also, we were never told how Alessandra and Kyle connected. That’s a big detail to leave out.

I came into this book expecting a duet and came out realizing it’s a trilogy. That cliffhanger was not nice. Not nice at all.

TW – kidnapping, violence, murder, death, and SA.

White Lies (Smoke and Mirrors #2) was another great read by Skye Warren. Logan Whitmere runs Cirque des Miroirs circus with intense focus. He risks everything due to his attraction to the rebellious Sienna Cole. This risks everything he cares about and it threatens her life. Logan finds himself having to choose between Sienna or the circus. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to rad more by the author.

A lot of this just felt like we didn’t get enough backstory. Most of it didn’t feel real enough for me to get really into it and then bouncing between present and past a bit felt like too much. I like that in the end he had to make the best decision for her, regardless of what that looked like for him and for everyone else.

This one was just as good as the first book! I’m loving this world the author has created! This book has it all and I’m here for it! Suspense. Surprises. So much emotion! I enjoyed the narrator! I can’t wait for the next one! Huge thanks to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book!

I recently finished book number 2 and it was just as awesome as the first one! I can't wait to dive into book 3 and hopefully it's just as gripping. I absolutely loved the mix of thriller and crime in this one - it's one of my all-time favorite tropes. When Logan finally realizes he's the perfect fit for her and Sienna is the perfect fit for the circus, things got even more exciting! 📚🎪

The narrators did a fantastic job it felt like I was watching or living the story.

Logan Whitmere runs the Circus, and lives what he does. But then Sienna Cole comes in the picture and he has to make a hard decision. Does he love the Circus or Sienna more??

This is a good romance that keeps your interest.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC of this book for an honest review.

I'm not too sure where this one got away from us like this. I really enjoyed book one and was quite bummed over how book two played out. The narration was decent enough but didn't really have a chance to wow me when the story itself really dropped off compared to the first. I am worried about how book three is going to go? Probably could have been condensed into a duet and worked better.

I'm not entirely sure where this went awry. I'm not saying it was a bad book but I just didn't feel it. It felts like 3 things happened in the span of 20 or so chapters. Nothing much came of it even the cliffhanger was just thrown into it. Maybe this shouldn't be a trilogy? It would have been better as a duet.

I DNF this at 22%. The narrator was hard to listen to. The story was confusing as well, and I found myself lost, and confused.

White Lies by Skye Warren and narrated by Leanne Woodward is book 2 in the Smoke and Mirrors series and as such, I was a bit on the back foot familiarising myself. This is a good thing though as the writing flow and storyline was interesting enough that I would want to listen to the first

It is more than a mystery, and a romance, it is spicy toasty and ends on a belter of a cliffhanger so I would highly recommend staring from book one and preparing for a fantastic trilogy

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, the author Skye Warren and the narrator Leanne Woodward for this ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

It was a short and quick read for me. Plus it was quite fast paced plotline too so I was able to read n finish it quickly this an extra star for it 🤭. The characters were well drafted and the author has given all the characters sufficient scope to grow and contribute to the book which makes it more interesting.

full of mystery and danger for the FMC, I was very much invested in the outcome of the story when we hit another cliffhanger. Why?! no worries, we get more of these wonderful characters and more story to be told.

Felt a little lost not having read read book 1. I feel like I missed important facts from the back story. I would recommend reading this series in order since it's more of a serial than a series. Even though I'm a bit confused with the storyline I was still invested. I may go back to read book one so everything falls into place for me. Maybe then I'll enjoy this more. Right now this is an OK read. The narrator did a good job voicing the characters and keeping me engaged.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a while to catch up with this book. It was like jumping into the middle of the story and having the background revealed a little at a time. I've never been a fan of the circus, but seeing what goes on behind the scenes was pretty interesting. Lots of great chemistry and spice. Would be interested in more in this series.

The circus is not all cotton candy and fun, sometimes it is dark, twisted and cruel. Sienna has learned this the hard way, but then her whole life has been hard. This book picks up exactly where the first leaves off. The first book was a major cliffhanger and this book will also end on a cliffhanger that will have you pulling your hair out and scrambling to find the next book. The narration of this audio book as well as the first really brings the characters, their emotions, the events and the dark underbelly truly to light and makes the book all that more intense. I have to say that I am quite enjoying the series and can't wait to see where it goes next. When people say they want to run away with the circus, well now they can! Just grab these books and you'll feel like you are there in the big top with the rest of the cast and crew!

This was my first book by this author, and I was very excited to get started with it. I know it is the second book in the series, but decided to give it a try anyway, hoping that it could be read as a standalone. I found myself trying to understand what was going on in this book A LOT. I think you really need to read the first book in this series in order to truly get the most out of this book. I don't think it can be read as a standalone. I also found that while it seemed the main problem in the book was resolved (Sienna was rescued) even though this was a very short book, it felt like the book dragged along. It was longer than it needed to be. Then I realized that the author was setting us up for a cliffhanger and leading us into the third book in this series. That is something that I am not used to seeing in the books I usually read, so it threw me off with this book. Im not saying that it was bad or wrong, just not what I am used to. I think if you are a fan of this author, and you read the first book in this series, then definitely pick up White Lies. If you haven't read Red Flags, then definitely pick that one up first. #WhiteLies #NetGalley

I felt like this was a typical middle novel of a trilogy, Logan and Sienna spent so much time apart and we had a lot of filler space between the two bookends... However, it was still an exciting story with a bit of action, a bit of spice and a cliffhanger I didn't see coming. I actually started to wonder if it was a duet the way things were wrapping up and then BAM we got hit with a wild twist. I can't wait for Black Sheep to see how this one ends.

The audio was really good, I loved Leanne Woodward as Sienna and the rest of the cast. She did a great job and I can't wait to listen again before the finale comes out.

Picking up from the events of Red Flags, we follow our leads, in separate POVs this time, as they overcome, rally and recover. Super quick read with some important revelations, but something fell a little short for me - forgiveness came a little too quickly. Personally would have loved a little more emotion/angst during the reunion. But I digress. Overall, it progresses the story and gets us in an optimistic direction….until…..cliffy.
