Evie and Jonah are both single parents, with their own struggles, who come together in a mutually beneficial fake relationship. Though the relationship started off as fake, the attraction is very real and it’s a matter of time before the lines between fake and real get blurred. But juggling all the chaos in their lives and managing a relationship, albeit a fake one is not easy. So what will happen when something falls ?
You’ve got Male was an entertaining read. I really liked how the author has balanced the heavy moments with some light romcom. The romantic moments though spicy were integrated very well into the story. Overall an enjoyable read.

Evie Granger's life is a whirlwind of chaos, juggling the demands of single-parenting a teenage daughter, caring for her lively mother and ailing father, and struggling to keep her family's coffee shop afloat. When a video of her describing her ideal man goes viral, Evie becomes an overnight social media sensation, attracting attention from men near and far. However, overwhelmed and uncertain about letting anyone new into her life, she strikes a deal with her equally overwhelmed neighbour to pretend they're in a relationship to fend off potential suitors.

The book's dual perspective allowed for a deeper dive into the main characters' lives, adding richness to the narrative. While it skilfully blends romcom with more profound themes like grief and loss, some readers may find the multitude of storylines a tad overwhelming. I did. Although the spice elements were seamlessly integrated, and this was a cute cosy read.

I really enjoyed this light hearted easy to read book. It was a fun mix of contemporary romance and rom/com. Told from 2 different characters POV with a lot of interesting side characters. It was a great in-between book to cleanse the pallet.

Evie is a single mom of a teenage girl with a lot on her plate, everyone in her life is wanting her to date. She’s bombarded with ‘suitors’ and thrown into an almost game show reality thanks to her mother and best friend posting her on social media. To escape the spotlight and random men showing up she makes a deal with her hot widowed neighbor. (Who she’s currently at odds with) to fake date.

Jonah the widowed father of a toddler and adopted father to a teenage boy (son to his passed wife) has a lot going on too, he is trying to be to move forward in the world that has stood still for so long. Jonah is juggling being a father alone and grieving his dead wife.

Being contemporary there isn’t any world building you have to deal with, set in Denver Colorado you can just imagine it as any city. Evie gay father owns the family coffee shop and which is first lgbtq owned coffee shop in Denver. It’s just a the perfect comfort read.

*This book touches on a lot of subjects which include grief, suicide, single parenting, money troubles. *
Does also contain sexual scenes.

You’ve Got Male was part light hearted romcom, part contemporary fiction. Evie and Jonah both show different sides and flavors to a single parent experience when the two come together for their faux-mance turned more.

I really enjoyed both our mains, and appreciated that this was a dual pov book so we could get a bit more from each of them. I liked that the story had both a lighter, romcom side but also delved into deeper issues grief, loss, disappointment and abandonment. The real issues were touched on in an authentic way that felt relatable, but still managed to flow and allow for the lighter parts of the story too.

There was a lot going on the story, which for me had a twofold impact. On the one hand it did lend itself to the chaotic feel for both mains and their struggles. On the other hand from a reader perspective it felt like a lot to juggle and might have been simpler with one or two less side issues. There simply wasn’t enough time to wrap up all the different bits, which is true of life of course, but I was left with some questions and wonderings.

My one wish would have maybe been for a bit less of the spice / spice coverage. There isn’t a ton and you can skip around it but for me personally, it didn’t fit with the feel and flow of the story.

Overall, I felt it was a good story and one I enjoyed. I look forward to more from the author in the future 😊

Evie and Jonah pulled on the heart strings. They both had so much going on and so much hurt, that it broke my heart. But seeing how these two worked together to fake a relationship was so sweet. Evie needing Jonah to be her fake boyfriend to get all the other suitors off her back after her friend went to social media trying to find Evie love. And well Jonah needed help everywhere. He defiantly needed organization in his life. Evie a single parent and Jonah also a single parent due to his wife passing. Jonah had a teenager and a little one. They both did have strong feelings for each other but made it seem like they hated each other. Once they establish this fake relationship, we know they are headed for love. But they both has so much chaos happening in there lives, can they make room for another person?
This story does talk a lot about grief, but the author has a great way to touching on it. You will experience tears, laughter, and lots of love.
