Anime lovers would definitely love this. This is more of a beginners friendly guide to drawing so if you starting out this would be more helpful to you. I thought the graphics was pretty cool too. Even the poses, it just gave anime lol. Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Walter Foster for this eArc.

honestly i really wanted to find this useful, but this wasn't the case for me. what you see on the cover is pretty much what you get inside, which is nice.

the art feels like it was done by a beginner - or at the very least done by someone with a lower skill level than me. the poses are strangely stiff, which doesn't show off the outfit like the author intended to. i think it's a cute art style, but the author seems to need more practice before giving tips to others.

not for me but others - especially beginners - might like it more.

* thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the copy!

Really love these art books. They have a great amount of info and are easy to understand for a beginner. This one focuses on fashion and its so neat to see how each other comes to life and the different styles.

I found this book to be really useful, but the clothes can be a bit tricky for beginners.

The style may not be for everybody but I really liked how the book is organized. It starts with drawing faces, then it has step by step tutorials for different types like school outfits, fantasy outfits and others. It also has inspirational drawings and pages where the author started the drawing and you have to finish it.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give my honest opinion about this book

So cute and genuinely helpful. I wouldn't really consider my own drawing style manga, but it works. I appreciated that there were so many styles included, including punk and Harajuku, and that there was both male and female clothing. Overall, a fun book for aspiring fashion artists of all ages.

It really has a variety of different kawaii fashions, from different school uniforms, to more fantasy outfits. A great base of you want to learn how to draw these things. The little exercises where part of the drawing is done for you is also a great way to get started and not feel overwhelmed.

Honestly I don’t think this book keeps up to any sort of standard when it comes to drawing. Almost all tips will only slow the progress of people who want to learn how to properly draw manga. The style is very 2000s esque in a bad way and the text isn’t especially helpful or fun either.

My real issue is with the fashion. As someone greatly interested in J fashion this book don’t get names nor styles right. Most of it look like what someone who got no clue about fashion would find cool.

A brief but very cute tutorial for basic tips to draw clothing in the manga style. The book is short and colorful. Has a satisfactory variety of suggestions for clothes for girls and unfortunately fewer options for boys. Two elements I found lacking and always struggled with when learning to draw, is how to draw realistic wrinkles rather than "just add some" and how to draw patterns distorted by said wrinkles. Manga has a tradition of overlay patterns that looks 2d instead of 3d pasted over the clothes (imagine flower pattern or tartan pattern that doesn't "bend" around the clothing and wrinkles), so maybe in the end nobody cares and that's simply the convention everyone accepts.

I'd recommend this books for children age 8-14 who are interested in learning to draw in the manga style.

My daughter absolutely loved this book. She was able to follow the instructions easily and create some beautiful illustrations. It really captured the anime feel in the book.

A cute and well planned drawing book!

There are so many step by steps along with even some “I started the drawing you finish this.”

What I really loved was the fashion option tutorials. Thats not something that is done often in these books.

My only note is that some of this book could be difficult for beginners. The step by steps are great, but there isn’t a lot of simple step by steps. The clothing in places could be pretty difficult and there would need to be a knowledge of drawing people semi-well for beginners, especially since this one is geared towards tweens.

Otherwise a cute book!

Adorable book for children, young adults and adults - for all audiences who are into manga, anime and/or fashion.
It offers step by step instructions, a variety of designs and characters and the use of language is lovely.
I hope there will be more of these books.

This book is a good way to learn to draw Kawaii and Manga. The focus is on fashion, but I found that it was a bit limited in this regard. The introduction gives some instructions on how to draw figures and then it jumps into drawing the fashion, but in reality, you are still drawing the figures because it's just examples of characters in different clothing. I was looking for something that was more focused on how to draw the clothing and how to mold it to the characters.

I also think that you would want to have the first book by Misako on how to draw the actual characters, because this one feels limited.

That being said, the instructions are clear, there are some cute options, and the overall approach is good. Not a bad drawing book or how to for someone who can take the information and apply it outside the mold. Probably not the best book for someone who is still new to the art form and looking to learn to expand their skills in a more free flowing way. For me, this really wasn't what I was expecting or wanting to get from a drawing book that is focused on fashion. And maybe that's on me for not reading the description better, but It think that many would simply pick this up and run with it based on the title alone.

Thank you, NetGalley, Publisher and Author, for providing me with an e-arc copy to review!

I like how the QR codes are used throughout the book so readers or beginners like me can see the drawing tutorials in video format. There was also a practical exercise (guidelines) in the book that made the book more interactive, which I really liked. It was cute and informative.

An excellent resource for the target demographic, but as an adult I also found it very helpful for outfit inspiration, particularly the fantasy and Harajuku-style sections :)

I really like how Misako added extra instructions on how to draw hands and shoes. They can be particularly tricky to get right!

Thank you for the ARC!
