Such a hilarious rhyming book with so much to look at on each page, that I just adore looking through it. Following the mosnters as they go to school.

This was so hilarious the illustrations on each page were amazing and had so much going on. You could get so engrossed into looking at all the monsters, all the details within each page. I also loved spotting the monster dog throughout each page, even before the end where it tells you to spot him I noticed him everywhere. I loved the illustrations in this picture book, they were perfection.

The story itself was really fun, each page had a different area of school and classes within it. The rhyming was really creatively made and was really funny and very fun to read. I really enjoyed this whimsical hilarious monster book, it’s the second book in this series that I’ve read and it’s still very so different to most others I’ve read.

This book would be loved by younger children, there is so much going on in it, from how funny it is, how fun the rhymes are, to the amount of crazy happenings going on in the illustrations, to searching for the Monster Dog on each page, I really think this is one that children will just adore they will have so much fun with.

Monsters at school is fun filled, rhyming adventure of the first day of school. It's pure chaos both in the story and the illustrations in a good way. It's exactly what you'd expect if monsters (friendly ones of course) went to school.

The strength of this one is its search and find element. In each page there is something the little readers are supposed to find. Because of the "loud" nature of the illustrations, it's actually a little tricky without being too hard.

My little guy is six and it was just right for him. The story made sense to him as a kindergartener, the illustrations were fun for him and he had to work but not struggle to play along with the search and find element.

Witty and cute, a book about being human, being a child and feelings. The illustrations have amazing bright colours and describe funny situations with creative prose.

Monsters At School by Laura Baker is a funny silly book with some great artwork that my nephew enjoyed reading and laughing at. He also enjoyed the game of finding specific characters and has requested this for is birthday which makes me a very happy and proud aunt as that is another nibling that I have turned into a reader.

My little one (3yo) really enjoyed the graphics of the book. The characters are lively, silly and funny that really capture the mood in a school day.

The artwork personalities of Little Miss/Mr. Men’s meets the discovery experience of I-Spy.

This story presents the reader with a colorful display of silly looking monsters and rhyming words while teaching school lessons. As the monsters go about their the school day, the story shows important social skills like sharing, paying attention in class, waiting your turn, etc. It’s all very subtle, and keeps the story fun and goofy rather than serious.

I loved that that this story introduces so many unique monsters with equally as unique personalities. It shows a child that people have many different characters traits, and gives words to describe those characters traits.

Overall, the lyrical rhythm of the writing offers a fun and exciting experience for any kid who is just starting school, or who is in early elementary school. I had fun spotting all of the different monsters, and I can imagine a child would enjoy spotting them out as well!

This a super fun book with really wonderful illustrations. Best of all, it teaches children that monsters may not be so scary after all. This is a great book to read with your children, and even adults might find themselves enjoying it as well!

My daughter loved this book. I will definitely purchase when available. The pages were super colorful. I loved how busy there were, perfect for seek and find games with a toddler.

Similarly to the previous book in the series, "Monsters at Christmas", there is no real story to it. It's cluttered with monsters and colours. Kids can make a game out of it, like the one suggested at the end (basically searching for specific characters like Waldo). It would appeal to a very young audience with the bright images and the clusters of monsters everywhere. Entertaining visually, but no real substance.

This book is just plain fun! I loved the illustrations and the plot was cute, simple, and easy to follow. I would definitely purchase this for the little ones in my life.

This is a really cute book of monsters at a school (well duh). I really like the art style and how there is so much on every page with so many bright colours that a kid would enjoy looking at. I also like that the writing rhymes. Finally I really liked the variety of the monsters within the story and how this could teach a child about people's individual differences before they start going to school.

A fun rhyming book to introduce children to the idea of starting school. Great, vibration artwork that children will love.

This children’s book is such a vibrant explosion of color along the lines of Todd Parr. I read this book with my 3yo and 6yo and feel it’s great for a kid getting ready to head to preschool for the first time. The book introduces different monsters in playful rhymes that makes for an easy read aloud. At first I thought the pictures were a bit too busy for my taste, but they provided conversation with my young readers as we pointed out different elements. I appreciate how interactive this book was when we went back through and looked for the dog on each page.

This clever, rhyming picture book full of bright colours and engaging detail on every double page spread is perfect for school starters getting ready for September.

With energy bouncing off each page, each depicts a familiar school scene, from drop off all the way to home time in a child friendly way. It is inclusive, every monster looks unique and responds differently to attending school and the activities within the school day.

A great introduction to school life for little ones age 2-5.

In this rhyming story, a variety of monsters enjoy the first day of school: “Fluffy monsters, scruffy monsters, monsters on their way, rucksack monsters, turn-back monsters, off to school today!” The bright, saturated colors of the cartoon artwork are the dominant feature of the book, and appear to be achieved using gouache with black outlines. The monsters wear human clothing and appear in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. The school environment features the usual activities including art, music, lunch, restroom, lessons, and riding the bus. Good for a class visit read-aloud, readers are encouraged to look for the orange Dog Monster in every spread.

Perfect for kids who love to look at every detail in a picture book. There are so many monsters and details in the background, and the book even hides the same character in every scene for the kids to find. Super cute.

I initially liked the look of this one, lovely bright, fun cover which will really appeal to children. However I was disappointed that there wasn’t really any story to it at all.
The pages are all very bright with lots of lovely illustrations, however I felt it quite overwhelming. So much to look at, so much going on, on every page.
I would probably say aimed at quite young children as there is no story to keep a slightly older child entertained.

This was a delightful read about the first day of school that would be great for a PreK audience. The illustrator uses bright colors and the scenes are reminiscent of a Richard Scarry book. Children will love pouring over the illustrations and commenting on what each monster is doing. It was clever to hide the dog monster in each page and will make rereads fun and just as engaging. This story should be purchased if you have a child nervous for the first day of school.

Great rhythm, fab illustrations, and a whacky tale for young readers about monsters at school. Can you find the dog monster on every page? Such fun!

"Monsters at School" by Laura Baker did not really grab me. While I enjoyed the cute and fun illustrations, there was not much of a storyline. I do think younger children may enjoy this book, especially looking for the dog monster on each page. For kids looking for more of a story, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
