I am a fan of teaching children proper grammar. The illustrative examples are fun and make it clear which sentences are incorrect. I was a little worried during the first two pages about how wordy it was, and that it might lose some kids there (especially with some of the vocabulary used), but after that, it was basically a picture book.

A cute book, with adorable entertaining graphics will keep children engaged.

Shows a poorly written sentence, which contains a dangling participle, followed by sentence where the issue is corrected.

What would have made this a 5 star book? More information! Highlight the dangling participle (which you could do merely by using a different color for the offending words. Add a page of a quiz where the child attempts to correct the problematic issue: make the book more interactive to truly TEACH children to recognize the problem in other writing, including their own.

Frankly, although examples and corrections are given, I doubt this book as it is will do more than highly entertain the reader, not a bad thing, but I assume this is not the writer's entire purpose.

This book gives a humorous approach to proper grammar and I think because of how funny it is, it will keep children entertained. I really liked the monkey drawings. This is a perfect book for teachers to add to their classroom. I really enjoyed this book.

This book is so adorable. I liked that it started out with a clear explanation of participles and then added so many good examples. The pictures are sure to make kids laugh and really drive home the importance of not dangling your participles. It was clever and the illustrations were so fun!

I couldn't access this; therefore, I can't give it a fair review and I had to put a star rating otherwise this won't get published, so the star rating wouldn't be accurate as well.

Sadly, I was unable to read this book because it only came in one format which wasn't compatible for any of my devices, nor did it show up in the NetGalley app, and no one from NetGalley or the publisher responded to my requests for help.

The one star is not related to the book, but to the service provided since I can't access the book.

Okay, the real reason I asked to preview this book through NetGalley is because I was curious as to whether a children's book could do justice to this actually kind of complicated topic. I do some copywriting and recently noticed that I was using my participles incorrectly.
There are a couple of pages of explanation at the beginning, and then the book has some hilarious and appropriate examples of the wrong and right ways to use participles in speech. Bravo to this author for handling this topic well. It was a lot of fun.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well. Like another reviewer, I was unable to open the file for this book. I tried downloading multiple times and opening with various applications, but never could access it. I was very disappointed since I love grammar! Rating is not for the book.

This book is a lesson an important one taught in simplest way possible. Ajay in a funny and cute way giving example of animals.

So what's participle? It is a verb that acts like a adjective. But Sentences are made of more than just verbs and participles. They have, nouns, pronouns, adverbs,
adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections to make the complete sentences.
When you add in all these other parts of a sentence it is easy for young children
participle, lets say growling, to get lost from the noun, lion and end up in the
wrong part of your sentence. And this book teaches those young kids how to use it properly in a sentence so it doesn't dangle.

Fun way and definitely enjoyable, it would make a great read for kids. And with these good illustrations it will definitely get big Yes from parents and teachers.

I've never been very good at schoolwork, not going to lie.

The words and pictures in this book show us what exactly a dangling participle is. The readers are shown an incorrect sentence. Then taught how to make the sentence read correctly. It is done in a cute and humorous way.
I can't believe I read this and understood it, I'm not very good at learning, even being a writer I've never had lessons on how to write my stories I just do it in a way I enjoy each and every time.

This was short but sweet, Cute but well learned and I would use this in a classroom.

When a participle, a verb that has taken over the role of an adjective, is poorly placed in a sentence, it can end up “dangling” and describing the wrong noun. When this happens, a sentence can end up confusing to the reader or unintentionally amusing. This is not an easy concept for students to grasp until they are given concrete examples. Don't Dangle Your Participle another great educational book by the same author of Birds of a Feather: A Book of Idioms and Silly Pictures does just that. The book begins with a two-page grammar lesson that explains the concept in plain language. It could be used word for word by a teacher. It is then followed by several examples. Each of those examples is illustrated with a humorous picture by artist Mike Desantis. The following page presents the sentence in a corrected form along with a picture of the intended meaning of that sentence. These pictures provide a solid lesson to drive home the concept. I only have one minor complaint with this book. Writers and students often find that in avoiding a dangling participle, the grammatically correct sentence seems awkward, and the sentence flows much better if completely rewritten. This happened in Oelschlager’s book, and the author would have been better served to pick out different examples that weren’t so awkward.

Picture books are usually aimed at little kids, but most parents are hardly going to sit down to a bedtime story with a grammar lesson. That said, kids will enjoy the funny pictures and with a little explanation from an adult, they can understand the before and after pages. Although the target for this book is probably middle-grade, older students could also benefit from this humorous approach. I recommend this book to teachers, school librarians and parents like me who like to stress proper grammar. This is a must have for all school libraries!

I just love anything that presents educational material in a fun way. This books is such a nice way to introduce a grammar lesson involving participles. Even the illustrations did great in adding to the explanations on placement.

Don't Dangle Your Participle is a hilarious way to teach young readers about the tricky grammar of the oft-misplaced participle. The first page gives a little easy-to-understand instruction, then the rest of the book is full of humorous illustrated examples.

As an English teacher, I thought this was so funny. This definitely deserves to be in the classroom to help kids understand! ❤️❤️

This was such a fun way to learn more about grammar structure, the explanations were so well done and easy to understand and the illustrations really helped create a better understanding of the text, I’m sure the kids are going to be very entertained with this book.

I mean, this would be a fun book for teachers to use in the classroom when teaching participles, but I'm not sure it has a wider appeal. Sitting down a bedtime with my two children, I'm not looking to have to explain some in-depth grammar rules :-P But, the examples were funny and the illustrations were cute.

This was really cute, and I actually understand what a dangling participle is now! The book explains everything in a way that's easy to understand and gives examples (with fun illustrations) showing both incorrect and correct usage of a participle. Granted, without reading this, *I* would've known the incorrect examples were wrong, but I wouldn't have known it was because of a dangling participle, and I think this will help kids who are just learning about grammar how to identify the correct usage of participles.

Very cute book. I think kids would get a kick out of the illustrations and silly situations caused by dangling participles. There's also a detailed (but brief) overview of participles at the beginning, which may be helpful for the adult who needs a refresher. At the end of the book, there is also a page that shows how the artwork was done (sketched, traced, watercolored, touched up), which was interesting!

I’ve tried for 3 days to download this book and it always gives me a blank file. I contacted help with no results as well. I’ll stick to books I can get on the app from now on. I was really looking forward to reading this too. It looks very cute!
