This is a solid book on traditional publishing told from an editor's perspective, which I think is both a strength, and a weakness. On one hand, they author has a very unique take on everything. On the other hand, huge important chunks are left out because they are an editor who seemed to have not talked to agents or authors on many of these topics, and doing so would have given readers a broader view of different parts of publishing and how they work. This is not a book I'd recommend for most authors--Jane Friedman's book, for example, has most of this info but it's written FOR authors. But I do think this book has its place in the market and value.

Really helpful for someone like me who is unfamiliar with most of this process! I will keep many of these things in mind for my personal hope to be traditionally published

I really liked this. Leigh broke down the complicated and intense publishing process in a way that is easy to understand and follow for an aspiring author. The publishing process has so many moving parts, and Leigh helps to understand, and as someone who wants to traditionally publishing, I found this book to be very helpful.

I have been in the publishing business for more than 40 years. There isn't a lot about this business that I don't know. This book, however, taught me things I either didn't know or couldn't confirm. This was an easy read that was very valuable.
