I loved the message behind this book. It was easily digestible for little readers. The illustrations are beautiful and will really draw in children to look closely.
Would have been 5* if the ending wasn't about drinking cider!

I received an electronic ARC from Gnome Road Publishing through NetGalley.
The rhyming text is charming and helps readers feel Emily's roller coaster of emotions as she loves to cook and then enters a cooking competition where things go wrong. I appreciate the quiet presence of her grandfather encouraging her throughout. His messages to believe in herself come through clearly and she finds the inner strength to finish the competition. It was obvious that she would win from the start but still worked well to finish the story. This one is designed for younger readers who will appreciate the way the text flows and the colorful illustrations.

Such a beautiful message within this book! One for any child who feels small or shy amongst their peers - the representation of different cultures and the idea of going for your dreams are universal.

A gorgeous gift.

Such a heartwarming little story about putting your fears aside and chasing your dreams, no matter what might be stacked against you. In this case, it was Emily's small size, but she didn't let that stand in her way. The illustrations are colorful and vibrant, and I know my littlest library patrons would LOVE cheering Emily on as she competes in the cooking contest. Highly recommended.

Being a retired preschool teacher, I've read so many children's books and some just stand out. This one, about a little girl who is really little, teaches what determination and perseverance can do - even when you are the smallest of them all. With adorable illustrations and rhyming text, this story would be perfect for a parent or grandparent to read to a child of any age.

Emily is robust. She perseveres. She cares about her process and her loved ones and does her best.
She is a whizz. The illustrations and the text complement each other.

Pjs, cuddling, and story-time before bed is a favorite at our house! The last couple weeks the kids had so much fun reading some new material I was given advanced copies of. It’s cute how now they ask what new books I have to read. As soon as I’m finished they will tell me what they loved about the book. My great little reviewers! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📚📖 @netgalley #netgalley

What a fun book about perseverance and believing in oneself, even when things aren't going right. I love that her grandpa is her support person throughout the story. I'm always a fan of stories that are inclusive of different types of families. My kids enjoyed listening to this book!

This book was beautifully illustrated and written. The author made careful word choices and I like how they were staggered throughout the book to make it more engaging for young readers. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.

What an absolutely adorable child’s book. I love how it encourages little I do in the world of food and culture, Snook is a family name so that makes it even more special. Beautiful illustrations as well.
