This graphic novel adaptation of Sense & Sensibility was a delight to read. Having struggled to read Jane Austen's original, I found this a more accessible way to enjoy one of the classics of British literature. The adaptation is faithful to Austen's Sense & Sensibility, while adding illustrations to great effect.
My only issue was that sometime I was confused about who was speaking, because Elinor, Marianne & Mrs Dashwood look quite similar in the illustrations. Having read the original fairly recently I was able to work it out fairly quickly, but a reader who has never read the text may struggle at times.
Overall, a wonderful adaptation.

Solid translation but I could not overlook the alien hands and extreme expressions. Not as polished as others in the manga classics collection.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was an enjoyable adaptation! The artwork added to the pain the Dashwood sisters encounter in romance and the importance of class to the era. At times, though, it felt like there were jumps in the plot where some of the original was left out. Overall, this is a great supplementary book to solidify the original piece of work.

The ARC of this book was provided by UDON Entertainment via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I will admit that Sense and Sensibility is not my favorite novel by Jane Austen, but I still found this to be a delightful adaptation and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Kudos to the team who is able to condense so much story into a single manga volume that is easily understandable and still does justice to the original work.

This book would be perfect for both younger readers to be introduced to classic literature in a format that is more easily digestible. It is also a great gateway to introduce readers of Austen to manga as they may not typically pick up a series casually. I highly recommend not just this book, but the UDON team does great work with their adaptations. I have never been disappointed.

This is another book I wasn't able to download. It also said I wasn't approved for this one so I'm not sure why it's on my shelf. I would have liked to read this one also.

Super delightful! Same as with the other Manga Classics, this is a great addition for people who already read the book and those ones, who just do not want to read the whole classic. Amazing!

I found this to be one of the more melodramatic depictions of Sense and Sensibility. My major issue with it was how often Marianne cried! Even Elinor cries way too much. It felt like in every other scene, Marianne was crying. I know that it is difficult to show nuanced emotion in a visual way, so I understand why they had to do it this way, but it just kept taking me out of the story. It is, however, an easy thing to overcome and the actual story telling is well done and nuanced.

One thing I really liked in terms of the visual story telling was how Willoughby's face is half covered, and at the end of the story, it shows why in a practical sense, but it gives him a very untrustworthy feeling, which I thought was a very good visual cue.

A wonderful adaptation to one of Jane Austen's classics. I like that this may attract a younger audience to her works.

Honestly Sense & Sensibility is one of my least favorite Jane Austen books, but I enjoyed it more on this form. The drawing is great and they did a good job adapting the story. I look forward to trying out the other Jane Austen titles in the future.

This is a manga adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. I found this story fun to read in the different format. I thought the art style was intriguing throughout my read. There's something about reading Austen's books in manga format that makes the story seem so new and refreshed, especially this particular book.

I loved this book. It took me a few minutes to get used to reading it from back to front but I did really enjoy it. It was obviously very condensed but the author did a good job hitting all the important parts. This would be a great book for someone who doesn’t want to commit to the original book by Jane Austen. You still get the story but it took a lot less time to read. My kids love these and can read them in a day. The art work was ok. Some of the people on the pages were not as detailed as others but it didnt really affect the storyline.

5 stars for this. I love manga and enjoyed the Jane Eyre manga classic this one was just as good if not better. Front cover was fantastic definitely a book to buy.

The Dashwood sisters couldn’t be more different. The eldest, Elinor, is prim and proper, while Marianne is a little more reckless. In a time when marriages were sometimes made out of the convenience of wealth, these two sisters manage to find love despite them not being from a well-to-do family.

I love reading manga adaptations of classical literature, especially Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. It is well suited to this art style because of its romantic prose. The pictures are expressive and lovely. I love the depictions of the characters inner thoughts by the use of thought bubbles. This was a beautiful retelling of the romances of Elinor and Marianne Dashwood.

There are so many different classics that I want to read but probably won’t because they are just too much! It is such a great find to be able to get these stories in manga form. I love the artwork and how great these flow. These are so helpful to so many people. I love reading these! The only reason I gave this a 3 stars because I wasn’t too fond of the actual story itself. I just like stories with a little more umph in it!

I haven't written the original book but I enjoyed this manga version. Once I get used to reading manga, it was super fun to read.
For people who don't want to read classics but also want to know what happens can go for this version. I really enjoyed the illustrations and the story of course.

Amazing artwork and the original story still is intact even though it's in Manga style.

Highly recommend it, even if you don't like classics, but you love artwork.

Thank you, UDON, for a complimentary copy of this manga! The review reflects my honest personal opinion!

I can't get enough of Manga Classics. This was my 6th book in the series and I can't wait to read more! My favorites are still Huckleberry Finn and Les Miserable, but this one is another great addition to the collection. The illustrations were amazing, character-building was fantastic, and the author and illustrator were able to turn this classic into a brilliant book in manga format. I'm one of those who just can't make it through Jane Austen due to the language (and no action lol). But this manga was a wonderful read to get an idea of what Sense and Sensibility is about. A reluctant reader will definitely enjoy this format of a classic.

Sense & Sensibility is one of my favorite classics, and it was intriguing to see it put in Manga. I feel like it really helped with the 'insta-love' that that book perpetrates. I didn't love how it made Fanny so much more of a villain than the original, or that it didn't really convey how much of a villain Lucy Steele was, but overall it was a charming thing to read on a lazy weekend.

It took me a while to get back into the rhythm of manga as it has been years since I had last read one. I found this to be an enjoyable read but I felt that it did miss a lot of the original book. which is, of course, to be expected since it is in a different form and conveying most of the storey through pictures and dialogue. It did capture the essence of the book whilst also making it hugely dramatic (which I was all for) and I would definitely recommend to those who are wanting to start reading some of Austen's books but cannot seem to get into it due to the language or just might find it a boring read. even though I did love Sense ad Sensibility I too agree that sometimes it can be tedious. Being an avid Austen lover this just didn't do it for me but I did enjoy reading it this way.
