Description

The #1 New York Times-bestselling author's terrifying new thriller about one man's ice-cold malice, and one woman's fight to reclaim her life.

Former Army brat Morgan Albright has finally planted roots in a friendly neighborhood near Baltimore. Her friend and roommate Nina helps her make the mortgage payments, as does Morgan's job as a bartender. But after she and Nina host their first dinner party—attended by Luke, the flirtatious IT guy who'd been chatting her up at the bar—her carefully built world is shattered. The back door glass is broken, cash and jewelry are missing, her car is gone, and Nina lies dead on the floor.

Soon, a horrific truth emerges: It was Morgan who let the monster in. "Luke" is actually a cold-hearted con artist named Gavin who targets a particular type of woman, steals her assets and identity, and then commits his ultimate goal: murder.

What the FBI tells Morgan is beyond chilling. Nina wasn't his type. Morgan is. Nina was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. And Morgan's nightmare is just beginning. Soon she has no choice but to flee to her mother's home in Vermont. While she struggles to build something new, she meets another man, Miles Jameson. He isn't flashy or flirtatious, and his family business has deep roots in town. But Gavin is still out there hunting new victims, and he hasn't forgotten the one who got away.

I had not read many novels by Nora Roberts before I read Nightwork and I enjoyed it so much I decided to read Identity. I really enjoy the mystery mixed with romance. I love how the wonderful characters especially the strong women were developed..

When Morgan's identity is stolen she loses everything and we see how she rebuilds her life and becomes stronger.

The dynamic between Morgan and Miles was so entertaining.

I look forward to reading other Nora Roberts books in the future. I have become a fan.

Thank you Net Galley for letting me read it before publication

What an absolutely captivating and at times bone chilling psychological thriller by the bestselling Nora Roberts.
A story about a person’s identity and what can happen when that is stolen away. The characters in this book are unforgettable and the relationships between them are both complicated and at the same time simple. I could not stop reading this book once I started. The roller coaster of emotions and this could happen to anyone realization was all brought together in a great book. A story of trust, betrayal and learning to love and trust again. Thank you to the publisher for my requested copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Nora Roberts stand alone novels are always the highlight of my spring & this book doesn’t disappoint.

I really enjoyed how we were reading from both the protagonist & antagonist view points, within their thoughts as one grows emotionally & the other crumbles.

Although you know who the love interest will be from the moment he is introduced, I enjoyed the development of their relationship.

This is one I will be re-reading.

Identity by Nora Roberts is an absolutely phenomenal book, with multiple layers to it that take you from chilling to heartwarming and everything in between.
On the surface, Identity is the story of an identity thief who turns out to be far more evil than a normal person can imagine, and of his victim who has lost everything at his hands, and has to start over. The grief, anger, and fear that Morgan experiences is raw and emotional, and so aptly portrayed by Roberts that you cannot help but feel everything with her. The ego, hatred, and narcissism of the villain is visceral and uncomfortable, portrayed with a skill that makes you squirm.
It isn't just the identity of the victims and the villain that are on display here, however. Throughout her healing process, Morgan confronts her identity as she sees herself, as her family sees her, and as her friends and coworkers see her. And identity isn't just an issue for her - we see other characters pondering their own identities within their own relationships, as they grow throughout the novel.
As a person who has watched a loved one endure the theft of their identity, and rise to the challenge of dealing with the violation and its effects, this book hit home. And that was before it became clear just how evil the identity thief in this book truly was.
This book is not just a non-stop thrill ride. It is a portrait of strength, of the importance of family and friends, and even a romance.
I highly recommend it, and am grateful to have received an ARC of #Identity from #NetGalley.

Morgan is ready to take on the world. She is set on a path to a new business and a home of her own with a great friend /roommate. While working 2 jobs to make her dreams a reality, along comes a transient fellow who checks all the boxes for nice guy. Until one day he doesn't. He takes her friend, her home, her dreams and her money and disappears. The debts he runs up in her name send her packing back home to mom and grandma and that is where she learns just how strong she can be.

Your heart breaks for Morgan and you cheer for her wins as she grows stronger thanks to family and to her new relationship with the Jameson family. I loved the character of her grandma. She is all spirit and spunk and stole the show for me in this one.

This novel has plenty of suspense. It is chilling that what happened to Morgan could happen to any woman out there. I liked the characters of Morgan and Miles and their developing relationship. They helped each other and were a great balance to each other's personalities.

I am a big fan of Nora's romances. Reading this thriller was a nice change and kept my interest throughout. One thing is for sure. Regardless of whether Nora is writing a romance, a fantasy or a thriller, she delivers an amazing and engrossing story. She is one of my all time favorite authors for this very reason.

I started reading Nora Robert's when I was 16 in the 80s. She is who got me started with the Suspense and Psychological Thriller genre.
This is the first one of her that I've read in years and I was not disappointed!
This gem has romance, suspense and an engaging story line of a woman who has her identity stolen.
Her roommate is murdered and the story continues with her moving, starting over and the whirlwind romance that comes her way.
I could not put it down and had to give it five stars for the unique character development and gripping story line.

I have received a free copy of this book and my opinion is strictly mine.
This has got to be the best Nora Robert's book I've read. She had a great amount of thrill and smarts balanced through the story.
Morgan Albright is living her best life, she works 2 jobs that she loves, owns her own home that she's fixing g up and has a dependable car. Along comes Mr. Charming and all is lost. He steals her identity and everything she has and leaves her roommate and nest friend murdered in her home.
Morgan goes home to.her Mom and grandmother where she stats to heal and rebuild her life. Not so for the hacker, he has lost his MOJO because Morgan is the only woman that he didn't get to kill after taking all they had.
I couldn't put this book down, it was so captivating

Absolutely gripping, I loved this book. Morgan grows so much during the books and becomes such a strong character not just because she has to but also because of the other characters in the book. Miles is the perfect blend of broody and sweet he is perfect for her. I truly enjoyed the storyline and all the twists and turns in it as well as the humor, and the drama it is definitely worth the read.

Nora had done it again! This book is amazing! It's the kind that sticks with you long after you finish reading it.
Our heroine is living a normal life. She has modest plans for her future and is working hard to accomplish them. Then one day a guy walks into the bar where she works and everything changes.
Soon her best friend is dead, and her own identity has been stolen. She loses her home, her job, her car, and her credit rating is gone.
But the FBI sees this as the first break in their case to find a guy they have been chasing for years.
Our heroine moves back home with her mother and grandmother. Her life changes again, but our villain has given up on the one that got away.
A great big thankyou to #netgalley and #St.Martin'sPress and #macmillan publishers!

There’s a reason why Nora Roberts is as famous as she is. She writes a story that is full of emotion, grabs you from the beginning and won’t let you go. She twists your emotions, letting you think everything will be okay—then it’s not. Yes, as many will say, her POV is all over the place, and yet, the writing is so intense that you don’t notice it most of the time. You just keep reading.

In this book, we are taken on a rollercoaster ride with Morgan Albright. She’s an army brat who never really put down roots, until now. She has a house in a nice neighborhood near Baltimore and she and her best friend/roommate Nina work hard to make their place one that works for them. She’s never had a serious relationship—she’s never had time. But when handsome IT guy Luke chats her up, she makes time.

Then everything goes wrong. It turns out Luke isn’t what he says he is. He’s a con artist named Gavin and serial killer. But he missed with Morgan, killing Nina instead. Morgan becomes the one who got away, and he can’t have that.

Meanwhile, Morgan has lost everything—her savings, her car, her home, her best friend and is forced to move in with her mother and grandmother in a small town in Vermont. She gets a new job and settles into life…but the specter of Luke/Gavin hangs over her. Even when she falls for a new guy, Miles, Gavin is still out there. Still after her.

This is an intense story. The author gives us plenty of breaks to show us how Morgan’s new life is shaping up—then brings Gavin in again just to let us know he’s still on the hunt and things aren’t as rosy as we want to believe.
But this is a romance so you know it all works out in the end…but getting there isn’t easy!

Recommendation: Definitely pick this book up! You won’t be disappointed. There’s romance, there’s suspense, there’s a HEA that satisfies. Nora Roberts does it again. And we love her for what she does so well.

I have read every book that Ms Roberts has written (this includes books by J. D. Robb) and this is probably one of the best. It includes suspense, romance, and family ties. Morgan and Miles were one of my favorite couples. They weren’t your typical sappy lovers but both had their heads on straight and handled any problems with a straight, forthright manner. The secondary characters were just as enthralling and the family dynamics in both the Nash and the Jameson families were something to strive for. This was one of the best individual books that Ms Robert’s has written, as we know that any of her series can’t be beat!

This was so good! I absolutely love Morgan’s character. Strong, smart woman who doesn’t take sh** from anyone and doesn’t let a serial killer take everything. I want to stay at that resort and dine in that restaurant and then drink at that bar! Sounds so lovely.

Loved it!!!! Just enough suspense to keep you wondering when the next thing would happen but enough breathing space for the characters and story to develop. I think what I loved the most is the shift from the man being the only support and hero. She found a whole village to lean on to get her through and then was her own hero through the lessons and power she gained from the entire support system she had.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me a copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

Nora Roberts is always on my list of must be read books. She is one of my favorites and her books are always a pleasure to read

Identity did not disappoint. Full of suspense and romance and perfectly crafted.

Her characters are ones we grow to love, hate or love to hate. The characters, of the grumpy Miles, Morgan and Gavin are my favorites.

The plot is developed at a great pace and the story if identity theft is one we can relate to in this day and age.

Highly recommend. Add it to the top of your must be read list!

Not having read an abundance of Nora Roberts romances but having read all of the JD Robb series, this book feels more like Robb than Roberts to me. Phrasing and cadence are familiar, and our shero, Morgan Albright, has a lot of Eve Dallas pluck in her, so I felt right at home with this one.

Morgan was raised in a military family, always moving from place to place. She wants nothing more than to settle somewhere, put down roots, and eventually open her own neighborhood bar. She works two jobs and has a roommate who's like a sister sharing expenses, but then everything falls apart. Her roommate is dead, her identity stolen, and her life destroyed. With no other choice, she goes to live with her mother and grandmother in Vermont.

For Gavin Rozwell, Morgan is the one who got away. She's the only woman he's targeted who didn’t end up dead by his hand. He'll bide his time, but he's keeping tabs on Morgan and he's determined to finish the job.

Despite the periodic updates from the FBI, Morgan is slowly rebuilding her life. She has a terrific job as the bar manager at the Jameson family's world-class resort, she's contributing to her family with home improvements and updates, and she finds herself in a romantic relationship she never expected with Miles Jameson. It looks like the perfect life, a Phoenix having risen from the ashes, except for the fact that a serial killer has her in his sites.

The perfect mix of romance and riveting suspense, I was held spellbound by this one and resented any interruptions that pulled me away from this compelling story. Any fan of romantic suspense will want to get her hands on this masterful, addictive, hypnotic read right away!

I'm a fan Nora Roberts but admit I have never read her suspense books and I will correct that error. This book broke my heart, it scared me, it devastated me and then it gave me hope. The characters are wonderful. Even the antagonist is so well thought out and descriptive. Morgan has the kind of resilience that you don't see much anymore. She picks herself up and starts again. And again. I highly recommend this book and all of this author's work! I read this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

*ARC review*

4.5 stars

This was my first Nora Roberts novel and I really enjoyed it! It was the perfect mixture of romance and thriller for me. I was engaged the whole time.

Identity starts in Baltimore where Morgan Albright is a master bartender. She meets a charming man named Luke and begins to date him. Before we know it, Morgan's roommate is found dead in their house and Luke has disappeared. Luke is determined to be a conman named Gavin who is out for women just like Morgan.

Morgan restarts her life with her mother and grandmother in Vermont. She lost everything after Gavin scammed her out of all of her money. She begins to start over when she starts working at a resort run by the Jameson family. The Jameson's take care of their own, and they protect her immediately. She and the oldest son Miles have chemistry from the beginning. We get to see the blossoming relationship all while we track Gavin's every move. It all worked very nicely together.

While I am a rom com girl through and through, I will say I wish the climax scene was a bit longer! I really enjoyed the tension and drama.

I would definitely read more thrillers and Nora Roberts books!!

This book had me on the edge of my seat and turning pages. I could not read fast enough. Great characters, great plot, and loved the entire story. Great read!!!!

As a faithful reader of Nora Roberts' books, this is my favorite "stand-alone" in years. I simply could not put it down. The title, "Identity", truly reflects what takes place in this novel both in terms of the thriller part and the main character's arc. Morgan finds her identity after Gavin ruins the life she is building The Nash Ladies, Jamesons, and Howl add so much to the family dynamic NR creates in her books. With the Jamesons, I could easily see at least two more romances that would make this a beloved NR trilogy.

If you were a NR reader and had ceased to look forward to her May thriller romances, come back for 'Identity'. You will be so glad you did.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press..
