Description

They took her leg.

They killed her partner.

Now the fuze is lit, and Lexi Mills is ready to explode.

ATF agent Lexi Mills isn’t afraid of breaking the rules. But when an impulsive decision during a bomb disposal operation takes half her leg—and her partner’s life—Lexi handles her guilt the only way she knows: by vowing to take down the man responsible for the blast.

When Lexi is sent to a border town to investigate a tragic explosion, something seems off, and it’s not just the mysterious local detective on the case, Noah Black. The deeper Lexi and Noah dig, the more they uncover a conspiracy reminiscent of the same bomb blast that changed her life.

Lexi thought the worst was behind her. But as the investigation widens, she’s torn between following orders and chasing revenge…

The first novel in the highly-anticipated new series from thriller writer and US Air Force veteran Stacy Lynn Miller, collaborating with former detective and WSJ Best Selling author Brian Shea. FUZE is a propulsive action thriller with a fearless heroine, perfect for fans of Lee Child and David Baldacci.

Fuze is a story about “otherness”, not the same as, different, imperfect individuals who don’t fit a “perfect” mold. Thoughtful portrayals of how it feels not to live up to what others think you should be, how you look, who you love, what you believe. It’s also a high octane thriller with a brave heroine in ATF Special Agent Lexi Mills.
Following the death of her partner, Darby, and the loss of a leg on a failed mission, Lexi is thrown into a harrowing operation to stop home grown terrorists. She logs lots of miles traveling from Kansas City to her new base with the Dallas Feds then to Nogales.
An extremist group at the border crossing has blown up a tunnel. Lexi is teamed up with an indispensable colleague in Detective Noah Black. Together they will face bombings, explosions, a church burning, gunfire attacks, nearly being blown up, and cheat death repeatedly. Lexi has a very personal score to settle with the radical group’s leader. Multiple hate factions are plotting with joined efforts to destroy the government. Lexi and Noah epitomize a very tactical, concise exercise in apprehending and preventing threats. It’s intense, fast paced, nonstop action.
I have read several of Brian Shea’s books, but Stacy Lynn Miller was new to me. Both brought authenticity to the plot. The characters distinctive personalities were thought provoking and memorable. As the first in a new series it has an epic ending, sets up perfectly for additional missions but it didn’t leave me hanging, just waiting for more.
I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read a digital advance reader copy of “Fuze A Lexi Mills Book” by Brian Shea and Stacy Lynn Miller and Severn River Publishing. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.
