Description

Love-cynical Lucy Bernard delights in her independence--baking, all things Instagram, the occasional fling, and most of all, hanging out with best friends Phoebe Karis and Deon Goldbloom. But when Deon kisses Lucy at the beach on a chilly afternoon, the two friends secretly jump into a lust-filled romantic weekend. So what’s with slotting her into "ignore" status afterward? Too embarrassed to confide in Phoebe, she silently buries the humiliation.

Deon is a widower who can’t move on after his wife's death. Is he a little crazy spending a sexy few days with Lucy and calling it the best time he’s had in four years? Yeah. Except blue Monday comes calling, and Deon isn’t ready for the guilt.

Lucy wonders how a smoochy weekend turns into a friends-with-benefits disaster. And Deon wonders if he’s made the biggest mistake of his life. Using all his nerdy charms, he launches a campaign to bring Lucy around. Maybe they can chart a course back to one another if she will only forgive him.

Love-cynical Lucy Bernard delights in her independence--baking, all things Instagram, the occasional fling, and most of all, hanging out with best friends Phoebe Karis and Deon Goldbloom. But when...

Wow the ignore thing was really hit hard, Lucy and Deon journey bitter sweet, i enjoy reading this second chance romance. I love the receips at the end!

I ended up reading the first two books because when I jumped into this one it was hard to navigate (personally). But, throughout the book I found it was hard to connect with the characters until about 75% of the way in. I did finish it and thought the writing pattern was great, the plot was good and I would recommend it.

A story about a second chance at love. yet it begins for both many after each has been single. he is a widow she was single when her boyfriend from years past left when she became pregnant. Now spending time with a group of friends and getting together at times for dancing when a new person shows interest in Lucy, Deon decides now is the time to make his feelings known to her yet even that takes some time. Lucy of course is surprised when the next day he tells her he would like to date her and then begins to wonder if she really wants to change their relationship. Here is my only issue or the beginning with issues, I would have hoped Deon would have made his intentions known before another guy started asking her to dance and then asking if she is single. Lucy being close to 50 I think would have been a little more assertive if she really wanted to be with Deon. Remember Sally told Harry she wanted more than being friends to make him sh*t or get off the pot. Liked the dancing part and the music at times felt slow.

This was a good friends to lovers read. The characters were good and this was a quick read for me. This was a first read for me by Shirley Goldberg and I will be reading more of her books. I am going back and reading the first two books of this series since I didn't realize this was a series when I received the arc. I would recommend this book if you like the friends to lovers trope.

Thanks NetGalley and The Wild Rose Press Inc. for allowing me to read this ARC.
